1974 Porsche 911 coupe: Rear glass installation with defrost for coupe [4K] Ep113

I will need to decide which piece of rear glass I am going to install. One has the defrost circuit, and one does not. I chose the hard route and am going to install the glass with all of the wiring in the rubber channels. We will go through two different seals to get one that works, bend two right side pieces of trim to fit and somehow rope in the rear window. It looks great and tightened up my...

Today I will remove and disassemble the 2.7L Magnesium engine from the 1974 Porsche 911. I will quickly find out it has a major issue with a diagnostic camera, and then tear the engine down to reveal more damage and eventually pulled head studs. No guessing anymore what happened to this engine as it will be fully exposed for the damage it had when it stopped running for the previous owner. 0:00...

Okay so l re-watched the video. Great tip on the string. Did you put the string in before placing the window or once you layed it in place? Yes sometimes it pays to use the manufacturer for certain parts. So on the trim, did they send you a left and a right or two of the same? I would say their packaging was not the best way. Cheers

Yes, I didn't get the video clip where I put the rope in the channel of the gasket. I have another video this week that shows this. I got the trim through eeuroparts and they have overstock parts. Not sure why I got two right side pieces of trim. It is possible to bend a right to fit the left side, as I did. They really twist these up to ship them and no matter what you get, you will need to reshape them. Thanks for watching!

Hey buddy! I have been watching your channel, you do lots of interesting cars. This really isn't that difficult, but I'd say the takeaway is the adhesive I am using. This stuff is by far the best contact-type glue you can use for upholstery. You definitely don't want the headliner coming loose, but those clips will help some as well. Thanks for watching!

Update as of 8/12/2024: I parked the car for about a year after putting in OE delco non-LSD fluid and LS additive. Upon driving the car recently, it was clicking in turns. I purchased "ACDelco GM Original Equipment 10-4034 Dexron LS 75W-90 Gear Oil" from Amazon. 2 quarts. This is a premix with LS additive in it. Solved the problem immediately. Not sure why this happened, other than maybe I didn't drive the car enough to distribute the additive. I have also heard some say when they use the OE Delco fluid and additive, they will mix the contents in a bucket first before adding to the differential. Something to think about. But... the LS gear oil I am using now is good.

Just removed an older Pioneer 7" display unit dated 2016 in my 08 GXP that I could only connect to it with bluetooth, when I pulled the unit out it was a rats nest in there, whoever had just whack off the connectors and ran a cable with 16 gauge 10 conductor wire, only 8 were connected for the 4 speakers and no sub, so I cleaned all if it up and connected the new units harness to the 8 wires in the back in to the big 10 conductor cable, I had a hellva time finding the correct SWC wires on the old cut harness to reconnect to the head unit, didn't need the old Axxess SWC unit that was connected and didn't work on the Pioneer. All connected back up and it sounds good even without the sub and the SWC work correctly as the new head unit has connections to connect directly and map the buttons to anything I like. The new ATOTO F7WE unit does Android wireless and it works perfect, that's the whole reason for the change out so I could have Waze and Pandora from my phone and it automatically connects when I get in the car. I'll one day get around to maybe reconnecting the sub.

Thank you for this question. This is very important to use the correct adhesive or it will come apart. I am surprised I didn't show this, I typically always am touting this product. It is called "DAP Landau top adhesive" and it comes in a light blue can. I have tried all the 3M stuff (77, 80, and 90) and nothing works like the DAP product. You will need air, and a glue sprayer to use this unless you plan on brushing everything. I also see that they now have introduced a spray can of this stuff. It is $20-$30 so not cheap considering you can get a gallon for $50. Good luck and thank you so much for commenting and watching!

Yeah you’re right we don’t use salt on the roads in Northwest Oregon. I live in Oregon also, I live in Albany Oregon, and I decided to take the time and spray a little epoxy primer on the outside of my Tail light housings and I resealed them again real good I wanted to make sure I didn’t have to go in and rebuild my lights again. Also, I purchased brand new pigtail wiring from Pelican parts to make sure my lights works good. Hope to see you around sometime, cruising the back roads of Oregon in your Targa. Hey, you had a great video. the idea about putting the solder on the side of the metal part of the bulb housing so it stays in better ground. I’m really surprised when you had the light housing halves taken apart you didn’t use a wire brush and clean off the outside metal and then spray it with protective paint to keep the light housing protected on the outside. I sprayed mine down with epoxy primer and then I added extra. Catalyzed clear coat For extra protection.

I live in northwest Oregon and we don't use any salt on the roads. Corrosion isn't much of an issue. Probably should have done something with the exterior of the housings, I was trying to get this together quickly. Thanks for watching.

A viewer was having trouble with the meaning of "retrofit" in the title. The definition of retrofit is: "an act of adding a component or accessory to something that did not have it when manufactured. " I spent part of the video discussing battery costs and sizes and found the group 86 it called for was almost 2x in cost from a similar group 25. So, I modified the tray to fit a group 25. Much cheaper option to modify the tray to accept a less expensive battery. This was a good retrofit for a group 86.

This is not a 'retrofit. You are simply replacing the battery. it's a re and re. Battery location is ridiculous in these cars. They could have located it in the cavity behind the passenger seat panel, like many other space-restricted vehicles do.

You didn't watch my video, did you? If you had, you would have understood the meaning of "retrofit" in the title. The definition of retrofit is: "an act of adding a component or accessory to something that did not have it when manufactured. " I spent part of the video you didn't watch discussing battery costs and sizes and found the group 86 it called for was almost 2x in cost from a similar group 25. So, I modified the tray to fit a group 25. This battery did NOT come with the car, hence the word "retrofit". No need to change the title, just need to get people to actually watch my videos before commenting. I am all into constructive comments, but when you see a title and get wrapped up in a word because you haven't seen the video is an insult to the person who spent 50+ hours making this video.

Do you still own the Karma and how is it doing? Still drives well and how’s the reliability? I want one sooooooo bad! What should I look out for if I decide to purchase? Which year is the best? Make more Solstice content!! I have a Sky. Thanks!

The Fisker Karma was only made for one year, 2012. They remade them with a new name "Revero" but the rear and front styling was different and I personally don't like the changes. The range was significantly improved for the new Revero. I have a short commute so I would charge the battery on Sunday and it would be ready for another charge Friday evening. One thing to watch for is the appearance of check engine lights. I had one or two that would always come on. The PO told me that was normal and a "hard reset" was necessary. Once the battery pack died completely and the work was done on the cells, the check engine lights remained OFF. So, service lights are not normal no matter what the Fisker CSP's say. Thanks for watching! More Solstice content soon.
