You don't see it in the statline, but Eli's performance against the Niners in the NFCCG remains one of the best QB performances I've ever seen. Eli spent the entire 2nd half buried underneath Justin Smith. The 2008 season was the heartbreaking one. They had the #1 overall seed behind a rushing attack that gained 2,500 yards, a ferocious defense led by Justin Tuck's breakout season, and then... it all came apart. you also left out the very low ranked defense of that team as well. Eli carried that team that year, and the fact the Giants never seemed to put the talent around him after that alone should show that the Giants weren't successful again due to bad management. His numbers in the ladder half of his career was actually better then the first half but the lack of team success gets blamed on him by many. If he comes out early, we should move up to take him. These guys are rare, you know.” Indeed it was magic.
My favorite Victor Cruz/Manning moment was there first ever touchdown pass against the Eagles where Manning hit Victor Cruz on a route and then Cruz pulled a "three stooges" on multiple eagles defenders he faked into crashing into each other... Giving Cruz a clear path to the end zone. It's the kind of highlight that's much more entertaining with the Benny Hill Theme song playing in the background
He carried the team to the title that year. The defense wasn't nearly as good as people remember. They played well in the Super Bowl but they were ranked in the bottom third. Eli fell 70 yards short of 5,000 for the season. He was just incredible as was that trio of WRs
My main regrets about Eli Manning’s career is Plexico shooting himself in 2008 bc we could’ve gone back to back Giants were 11 and 1 before that and the fact that after 2011 he never even had an average o line again
Literally dragged that team kicking and screaming into the playoffs with 1 of the worst defenses and worst rushing attack in the league during the season. The D finally stepped up in the playoffs but the only reason the Giants were even there was because of Eli. Also there arent many QBs that could take the beating he did in SF and still walk away with a W.
This is quite interesting IMO. In the 2 years that Eli had playoff Championship games ('07 and ''11) he played good enough to help his team go 8-0 and 5 of those were away games including 2 away Conf. Champ. games. How did Eli play---he had 15 TD's and only 2 INT's. He had 5 games with a Rating OVER 100, Let's compare and contrast that with Dan Marino for example.
Marino had 3 years ('84, '85, and '92) with playoff Championship games. How did Dan play---he also had 15 TD's BUT he had 10 INT's and 2 fumbles, he only played good enough to help his team go 4-3, and 2 of those losses were AT HOME Conf. Champ. games. I will gladly take Eli if my team has a Champ. game coming up based on the way each guy played in those BIG GAMES !!
How did each guys team stack up ?? Statistically speaking it was no contest. If you add up the 4 major team Rankings the Dolphins added up to 28 in 1984, 45 in '85, and 34 in '92. But the Giants added up to 54 in '07 and 69 in '11. Obviously the lower the total number the better the team.
For some reason this season gets overlooked this guy pretty much threw for 5,000 yards and 31 TDS and like 12 4th Q TDS. That’s an MVP year any other time it’s just Rodgers, Brady and Brees had monster seasons that year
This season had me experiencing some of the lowest lows and the highest highs. I remember texting my friend when the Giants were getting blown out by the Saints and he said "who cares, Packers are winning the Stupid Bowl anyway."
2011 literally started with that famous “do you consider yourself an elite QB?” and ended with “do you think you’ve already done enough to make the hall of fame?”
for those saying eli wasn't good enough look up what ranks all his olines/rushing attacks and his defenses his entire career. Look it up hes only had a top 10 def like 3 times? and his oline has been terrible most of his career even in the vid when they explain the SB run he had the 31st ranked oline. I'm not gonna say Eli aint got his problems cause he did but look whats happened when you put others in his position and they aint do jack(except that one run last year)
Mike, the Giants should draft UM-QB JJ McCarthy, the NattyW & also from Michigan draft, DT/ Kris Jenkins. Like the Dallas Cowboys, TE-Luke Schoolmaker., & DL- Mazie Smith. Mike Eli Manning was great,& should be considered to #HOF, but he is from the past. What you & I are concerned about is the future of not having seasons like the one we had.? Are you talking about how many games the team has to lose to be perpetually in the NFL Lottery.? Happy New Year to you, sir & your family, and always #LETSGOGIANTS-& #GOBLUE-NATTYUP!
Gilbride had a system where every reciever had 3 built in option for every rout they ran. Every qb ever is gonna have inflated int stats in that system just bc ur not always gonna see the same thing as ur wr
I think Eli is underrated primarily because he tried to play for too long. His last 4 or so years in the league were so abysmal, that many fans just remember him for that. Had he retired a few years earlier, I think he’s looked on more favorably by the average fan, and while he’s never going to be approaching top 10 arguments, I don’t think top 20 is too unreasonable.
I felt we could've possibly repeated if Plax ain't Chedder Bob himself! We was clicking and hit our stride. Then BOOM! Shit started happening. Eli stayed having to deal with dumb shit from teammates not being on point. One 🥷shoots himself, another 🥷blows his own fingers off, 🥷🥷🥷 hanging out in the clubs the night before the big game, and other little knickknack tickytac bullshit that effected a season. I'm telling you, there's at least 1 to 2 more Superbowls left on the table. Now, with that said, if Eli did all he did with dumbass teammates and no OL, imagine if he had one!
The best part of this season was Eli outplaying perennially overrated choke artist, Tony Romo, twice for the Division title. Romo only produced when the team around him was loaded. In his PB and PO years ('06,'07, '09,'14) he had 33 Pro Bowlers and 9 All-Pros playing behind him. On the other hand, Eli carried this bad team to the POs and set multiple 4th Q records in the process. Dallas stans, I'll ignore all replies.
Ther 2011 season my first season betting football. You forgot to mention in the NFC Championship game that the real reason why the Giants won was because of the 49ers muffed punt
Jake Ballard was a beast, lost his career in the super bowl that year. people sht on Jerry Reese but the Giants lost soooooo many really good players to career ending injury's, gun shot wounds and fire works accidents. really need to judge his time with a bit of an asterisk.
It wasnt on the radio with Michael Key. Its was YES Network Center Stage with Michael Key. Thats what made it such a FU when he won the Superbowl. Michael Key on his center stage basically asked him if he was an Elite QB in a platform knowing Eli would not be able to walk away from the question. Michael Key basically forced him to say something that could be controversial. If Eli dodged the question then it would have looked even worse then it eould have been on the radio and it eould be Eli doesnt have any confidence ect. So it forced Eli to say he does believe he is eliet which caused controversy all over new york radio. Eli is over rated ect.

Call it magic…Peyton had much better talent around him at Tennessee. But I honestly give this guy a chance to be better than his brother. Eli doesn't get much help from the coaching staff. If he comes out early, we should move up to take him. These guys are rare, you know.”
Indeed it was magic.
What Eli did in 2011 with just about as worthless an O-line as you could find... is amazing.
Forever my quarterback
Was GD TIMES BACK THEN. 🏈 🏈 was better back then to. They only played 16games in season.
Great video
Cool video
Thats my qb!! Tough as nails. I hope th giants one day get a qb that can match him
My QB goat. My guy was clutch
Danny Dookie could NEVER
nothing decades ago matters today. especially in sports
The 2nd one really was sweet.
He carried the team to the title that year. The defense wasn't nearly as good as people remember. They played well in the Super Bowl but they were ranked in the bottom third. Eli fell 70 yards short of 5,000 for the season. He was just incredible as was that trio of WRs
the thing with eli is that he is not consistently great like peyton but he has magical moments like 2007 and 2011 so he deserves to be a lock for that
That thumbnail tho 💯
Brees was the MVP in 2011 imo. But 2011 was such an insane year for QB play
My main regrets about Eli Manning’s career is Plexico shooting himself in 2008 bc we could’ve gone back to back Giants were 11 and 1 before that and the fact that after 2011 he never even had an average o line again
David Carr being the backup in that situation is crazy ironic
Literally dragged that team kicking and screaming into the playoffs with 1 of the worst defenses and worst rushing attack in the league during the season. The D finally stepped up in the playoffs but the only reason the Giants were even there was because of Eli. Also there arent many QBs that could take the beating he did in SF and still walk away with a W.
Honestly eli manning had ice water in his veins
This is quite interesting IMO. In the 2 years that Eli had playoff Championship games ('07 and ''11) he played good enough to help his team go 8-0 and 5 of those were away games including 2 away Conf. Champ. games. How did Eli play---he had 15 TD's and only 2 INT's. He had 5 games with a Rating OVER 100, Let's compare and contrast that with Dan Marino for example.
Marino had 3 years ('84, '85, and '92) with playoff Championship games. How did Dan play---he also had 15 TD's
BUT he had 10 INT's and 2 fumbles, he only played good enough to help his team go 4-3, and 2 of those losses were AT HOME Conf. Champ.
Eli 2024!
Eli - Road Warrior
was in county for 08, dallas, favre, brady. going forward rodgers, sf D, brady again. hoist
For some reason this season gets overlooked this guy pretty much threw for 5,000 yards and 31 TDS and like 12 4th Q TDS. That’s an MVP year any other time it’s just Rodgers, Brady and Brees had monster seasons that year
The Goat
This season had me experiencing some of the lowest lows and the highest highs. I remember texting my friend when the Giants were getting blown out by the Saints and he said "who cares, Packers are winning the Stupid Bowl anyway."
2011 literally started with that famous “do you consider yourself an elite QB?”
and ended with “do you think you’ve already done enough to make the hall of fame?”
My goat
I mean New York overlooked him so bad that Eli had to wait for reporters after the game
for those saying eli wasn't good enough look up what ranks all his olines/rushing attacks and his defenses his entire career.
Why anyone arguing Eli win two superbowls and is a top 10 leader in passing yards ..
Also has the record for most passing touchdowns in a postseason
Do a video on where mahomes ranks all time amongst all nfl players regardless of position
Eli was better than Mahomes in super bowls watch football
He was good but I remember he was also an interception machine.
Manningg ....
2 handed jpp!
Now, with that said, if Eli did all he did with dumbass teammates and no OL, imagine if he had one!
still most passing yds in a post season
he beat brady twice… eli is the goat of the goat
The best part of this season was Eli outplaying perennially overrated choke artist, Tony Romo, twice for the Division title. Romo only produced when the team around him was loaded. In his PB and PO years ('06,'07, '09,'14) he had 33 Pro Bowlers and 9 All-Pros playing behind him. On the other hand, Eli carried this bad team to the POs and set multiple 4th Q records in the process. Dallas stans, I'll ignore all replies.
Eli had the flu in the nfc championship game as well
Do this for Kurt cousin
That win they had in GB wasn’t even that close. Should have been 44-13
Yea that was a BEAT down it showed that Eli should’ve been MVP
Victor Cruz was the goat
The Giants become David.
Ther 2011 season my first season betting football. You forgot to mention in the NFC Championship game that the real reason why the Giants won was because of the 49ers muffed punt
It looks like Victo Cruz was CRUCIAL in this season.
Jake Ballard was a beast, lost his career in the super bowl that year. people sht on Jerry Reese but the Giants lost soooooo many really good players to career ending injury's, gun shot wounds and fire works accidents. really need to judge his time with a bit of an asterisk.
we woulda had 8 dam rings if it were for Eli… oh well, still can’t fit all our rings on one hand 🤣
