Imagine if the AI voice for the titans were like Prez. The fanart would be absolutely fuckin wild
real and pilotpilled
I love it when Titans fall. It's very satisfying.
Nothing was more terrifying than getting to the drop ship to escape and seeing it blow up, then seeing an enemy titan come towards you with malicious intent.
Who would win?
Dropship 0.27 seconds from jumping out
Vs
One Arc Cannon boi
@@derptomistic Not even just Arc Cannon, i remember people would just nuke eject at the drop ship one at a time. No way to really extract
And What if the titan fell on the drop ship was coming for you?
@@unwise_TW the game readability you've had to have to drop a titan like this wasn't exactly easy
@@cherryrook8684yeah that was removed for obvious reasons
Then it had to again be removed after the tf2 technical test
def the most underrated part of Titanfall was the art style. Great military sci-fi aesthetic, it’s all functional and tacticool
It sucks they largely ruined it in the second game
@@HalTheBot 2 went more of that sci fi sleek but atleast it still holds more of that millitary style than apex does
@@kingpatatochip3357 TF2 still has TF1 gritty art in terms of pilot designs and Titan Chassis.
@@speedyazi5029 pilot designs maybe, but definitely not the Titan chassis. There's a huge difference in detail and _overall_ aesthetic between the two-in the sequel, the Titans are a lot more sleeker and "modern", whereas the Titans in 1 follow the harsh and grounded designs that look like somewhat feasible machinery
@@HalTheBot I think TF2 is just colourful. The Legion and Scorch chassis are bigger and more military looking than TF1 Ogres. They have huge backpacks and thrusters. The only Chassis that looked super modern was the Stryder Chassis.
One thing I think that was so much better titanfall 1 than in 2 was the immersion. Until you died, you STAYED in first person. Even when entering your titan or getting ripped out of it by an enemy titan. Everything just felt so visceral and intense, that I would often have to remind myself to breathe after a match.
Absolutely this. I missed so many of these things in TF2, like the first person embarks and executions - it was a real shame to see it go, though having the option for both would've been the best
@@alexscholz3438 Yeah, TF2 wasnt as immersive, it was a bit more cartoony fair enough. But they could have kept it first person
@@alexscholz3438unfortunately iirc Respawn's limited development time for TF2 meant that embarking and executions had to be third-person.
@@travelingspartan2035 I don't think this is great reasoning, pretty sure Northstar has a mod that just puts you in first person for the existing animations
@@famulanrevengeance3044 it's not reasoning, it's just factual. Northstar has that mod because someone put the time into making it. Respawn didn't get that time.
The best part about the Battle of Demeter is that when you're on the Militia side where one of the 2 dropships get shot and collides with the other dropship. There were 3 actual players in each dropship with 3 different perspectives. So you either got to see the dropship that got shot flying towards you or you were inside of the shot dropship flying towards the other. Also the whole gameplay and cutscenes entirely taking place in the 1st person view also made the game super immersive.
I also liked the IMC opening on that level where you could be in the drop pod with 2 other players and Blisk.
I do love both TF 1 and 2 multi-player intros,is easily one of the best multi-player games intros from a sci-fi videogame. Not even Battlefield 2042's has come close to it.
Yes, it made every multiplayer match so much more immersive, instead of just spawning in and out, you get dropped down etc
Exactly. Hell, it's for that reason I would say TF2's executions are infinitely inferior because they're so slow, awkward and clunky. It's so much less of a shock compared to seeing your view involuntarily turn 180 before fading to black.
@@cplmajbox7629 Demeter.
I think an underrated feature has to be the titan voices, the alert system and how it gives you suggestions on how to respond. Really helps sell the Titans and Pilots as fucken Pilots of Titans
I missed that feature (and really the entirety of the Titan aspect from TF1) in Titanfall 2. Having Vanessa welcome you back when you enter your titan and telling you to stay safe when you left was really an underrated experience. Not because of a "GFE" but it also made it feel like the Titan was something it is suppose to be, the extension and capabilities of the Pilot.
@@shadow200343 It's kinda justified by the lore, in TF1 you're a faction soldier (I think ?) with a dedicated personal Titan with an advanced AI core. In TF2 you're basically a mercenary with a budget mass produced chassis. That said, I totally get what you mean, the TF1 titans made you feel at home when you got in the cockpit
@@MrColandrin I get that and the lore-wise it does make sense but it's was also a result of TF2 being a product of it's time.
ive found the voices, while more 'personable' in tf2, are far less useful then in tf1.
i am the biggest slut for titanfall 1 combat, so i'd love to see gameplay return to that in the future.
@@shadow200343 Jeeves for life for me; keep the titan just how I want it, Jeeves! I'll be back for it!
I absolutely LOVED the exfils in Titanfall 1. It really hammered down how unbelievably skilled and valuable the Pilots were. Even though your side was losing, in most other games the match would just end, but in Titanfall the fleet risked delaying the retreat to send down a dropship to actually try to save and exfiltrate the Pilots. That's AMAZING world building by gameplay mechanics.
Never thought about that. That really is cool.
man the marriage of lore and gameplay in titanfall was so fucking good - while there are really good games out now that share that really cool feature, at the time for how good it played and looked it was incredible
hey Doomslayer here pog.
Never actually stopped to think about it, it really shows just how valuable the pilots are
Truly tragic seeing the fall of something so genuinely unique, beloved and actually awesome. Hopefully one day we'll get to see more of what respawn can do when given the creative freedom
Doubt that, almost more then half of the original team that was with 1 and 2 are gone. Just Vince and others now. And the cancelling of a third game DOSENT bold well in the future of anythign more. Just be Apex and Star Wars.
Respawn makes star wars games and live service crap.
god no, the current dev team would screw it up so badly it would go the way of the EA subsidiary
We won't you know we never will and even if we did it would not be a "titanfall" game
The Militia side of Demeter, with the crash landing onto the planet, the rush up the hill, then watching both fleets bail while you're left on the ground is still a goosebump moment for me
Also Spyglass can, in fact, get it
Upon revisiting the game in preparation for the 9 year anniversary, I have deduced 2 things:
The level of fun in a match is inversely related to the number of arc cannons in the lobby
And the hit registration for melee is like "You will receive your kill in 4-6 business days, not includibg holidays"
Always good to see Titanfall appreciation
Okay excuse me while I go boot up titanfall 2
Amen
okay excuse me while I boot up big rigs
@@thonato295fuck over the road, go under it.
Titanfall 1 wasn't without its own flaws, but like the Uncharted series you covered, I feel like Titanfall 1 was a necessary evil which paved the way for Titanfall 2; the masterpiece
I wouldn't even call it "evil." Uncharted 1 felt that way cause I despised it's gameplay. Titanfall 1 is still very good just... flawed.
@@Bricky Yeah, that's true. I only meant evil as in it was a necessary stepping stone which helped Respawn figure out what to do for Titanfall 2
Someone once compared TF1 to a beta version of TF2. It's much more grey in the visuals, and the balance needs polishing, but with a few tweaks it can become great. And it did.
I would akin it more to devil may cry 1. Fun but flawed games that really don't compare to the sequels. But without them, we wouldn't get the sequels
2 could still be improved, and that is the reason we deserve Tf3
No game has giving me the same feeling as Titanfall did.
Pressing nuclear eject and seeing my pilot tapping those buttons and pulling out, while everything crashes around you, for the first time ever.
man...
The art direction of this game is legendary to me, I'm a massive fan of mechs in scifi, but most lean way too hard into the more anime style for my taste. So the designs in things like Battletech and Titanfall are so good for that grittier feel.
You’re right and you should say it more
I love that you mentioned the way that the Titans cameras boot up one at a time and how you can see the lines between the screens. Always made me really feel like a pilot in the cockpit.
10:08 halo odst has made me absolutly love the idea/design of orbital drop pods they are just so sick
I think for me, it was planetside's, trying to land on planes on your way down. Or starhawks
You'd probably love Space Marines from Warhammer 40k then. It is one of their primary methods of battlefield insertion
I like how TF1 is completely 1st person, it doesn't take you out of that P.O.V when performing an Execution/Termination or boarding your Titan like in TF2. I like the unique Executions that each of the Titan types have, Oger ripping off the arm of its enemy and beating them with it is awesome, Strider ripping out a pilot from the cockpit of their Titan and crushing them in it's hand, and the Atlas pulling a pilot out of the cockpit and tossing them aside like trash is pretty funny.
“You are out numbered 3 to 1”
I loved hearing that and subsequently proving both the computer and other players wrong.
I almost canceled my preorder cause of how many times the game was delayed, but it was SO worth the wait. I badly wanted more substance to the game, and was full send into the universe it created
Man just reading that line gave me a hit of nostalgia
It's such a shame that's physically not possible in TF|2, since you get rinsed so fast. I think titan health in TF|1 was really high as in you could keep the same titan going for ages if you were careful/skilled.
I think the fact that the embark animations stayed first person on TF1 also adds to the immersion. Just a nice detail that adds to the realism of the sci-fi military theme of the game.
I swear I also remembered Titanfall 1 having a slide and so did a bunch of my friends. I actually revisited Titanfall 1 somewhat recently so it's funny this video came out after that, and it's funnier that Bricky also thought there was a slide. I'm gonna jus start calling it "The Slide Paradox". Sliding became such an intergral part of the moment in Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends that we just assumed it's always been there.
It is a shame it never had that. Felt like the game to have slide. This is why when Titanfall 3 comes around, I want pretty much all of Titanfall 1's features, with the only aspect from 2 being its movement mechanics.
Used to work for the Australian equivalent of Gamestop, we had an annual convention expo thing that was open to the public, we went in every morning suuuuuuper early before the convention opened and buttered up the devs at the booth to let us play this before the convention opened!
When the game launched, it was staggered and us had live servers before Australia, we hopped on a vpn and spent the day shrieking the national anthem on comms playing a day early! I. Fucking. Love. Titanfall.
I've always preferred the art style of 1 over 2.
My tf|3 wishlist would be:
Maps and style of 1
Movement of 2
Gunplay of apex
I loved the idea of Multiplayer-campaign that was dropped in 2, those intro cutscenes were the coolest
Titanfall 3 wishlist:
-Please
Titanfall movement with apex TTK would be absolutely brutal tbh. You'd need to be a mechanical god to kill anything
@@teejay1646 Precisely; it's also the reason Titanfall 2's maps suck. They have no semblance of the intricate balance the first game had-where every nook and cranny was fine tuned to the game's movement and balance (in regards to Titans and Pilots). Titanfall 2 ruined a lot of its potential by increasing the mobility of Pilots-it's even harder for Titans to track them (especially on console), and Pilot v Pilot gameplay feels more like frantic double jumping and sliding rather than actually using the terrain.
@@HalTheBot they need to remove the red outline on pilots too, and go back go faction models instead of set models for all factions so you can remove the red outlines but also distinguish enemy pilots from yourself and teammates.
@@HalTheBot more mobility is always good, if people could move like that in real life, they would, no need to cover if you can dodge bullet
I miss Titanfall 1. I loved the vibe as it was more grounded in reality than sci-fi like Titanfall 2 and Apex, and I also liked their titan customization in terms of loadouts and ai choices
One of the most tragic franchises in FPS history. Such a great series constantly mistreated.
If it was so great why was no one playing while it was relevant? I liked both the games but it was long ques and empty lobby’s for me so I stopped playing after like the first week, I also wasn’t seeing any vids popping up like it just was never popular in my eyes, just comparing it to something like elden ring where it was almost impossible to not see content being made
Everything from 9:43 onward describes EXACTLY what I love and struggle to explain about Titanfall 1. The first person cutscenes as match intros, where *every player* was actually there and had their own viewpoint in dropships / briefing rooms before the match began. The god damn AESTHETIC of every Pilot, Titan, Weapon and building! The god damn SPECTRES MAN! So damn gritty without dipping too far into drab grey Gears Of War 1 'Unreal Engine 3' style of games (a lot of it was grey & washed out in retrospect, Titanfall 2 bumped up the saturation) and just... augh, everything man.
All jokes aside, Titanfall as a whole really was special, and that's really all there is to it. You can write amazing reviews and retrospectives, but you really had to have played to understand. Now all I can think of when I hear or see Titanfall is how not to cry
If everyone loved it so much why didn’t anyone play it while it was relevant? What I remember from Titan fall 1 and 2 is long ques and empty lobby’s so I stopped playing
@@Monkeyman-qt1sm you do realize that at that time, EA had launched Battlefield 1, right? I'm not saying the game at launch didn't have it's faults, I'm just saying the series is special
@@Monkeyman-qt1sm you don't actually know what happened did you?
Titanfall 2 released, literally sandwiched between Battlefield 1 and COD : IW
Most gamers would spend their money on the big AAA's but have a hard time justifying buying both of them in a short period of time + this random other shooter that received little to no marketing so they had no reason to buy it. Thus, meaning no players
@@TheTapiocaBabe you’re saying the series is special while also saying it’s not as good as battlefield?
@@sidekic1109 okay what’s your point tho? If it was truly so special then players would of bought that over battlefield?( come on we allllll know no one bought infinite ware fare lol.) if it was so great why didn’t it get marketing? If people loved the first one so much then why wouldn’t they return to the second? Why wouldn’t ea push the second game harder? Having a sandwiched release sucks but it’s not the full reason. I mean games that came out in 2015 have 10x the amount of players then Titan fall ever had and came out the same year as bloodborn and witcher 3, why are they still relavant while Titan fall isn’t?
I remember just hacking specters and having just 15ish specters just running around together killing AI and pilots. Still did it in titanfall 2 because you know memes.
Titanfall 1 Walked so not only could Titanfall 2 Run, but Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare could Crawl
I loved that game as a kid.
My usual class was R45 pistol, with car smg, fast reload, icepick.
With my favorite burn cards we’re.
Massive payload, WiFi virus, and amped car smg. Slaughtered everything in the matches.
Glad to see I wasn’t the only one who found the second games rodeo system a little weak compared to the og.
Honestly i could listen to Bricky talk about Titanfall until the end of time.
And yes, PLEASE make another video about all the changes they made from Titanfall 1.
Thank you Bricky
Titanfall 1 still has a very special place in my heart, it really had that atmosphere and immersion nailed, and I really hope someday we get another game like it
Looking back even now seeing how much stuff was in first person regarding the Titans when they're then third person more in Titanfall 2 makes me realize just how much cooler it was here in most cases.
One thing I always liked better about titanfall 1 was the whole game was 1st person, it felt way more immersive than titanfall 2
Seriously, I wish more games had cinematics like the multiplayer campaign for tf1 had. Those cutscenes are some of the most cinematic and immersive things I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing in a video game. The battle of Demeter's intro is literally one of the fucking coolest things I've ever seen in a video game, not just because it's cinematic, but because every player has their own unique pov, interacting with the environment in a different way that other players can see. Ex; in the milita intro for Demeter, one pilot will be holding onto that roof of the dropship, and another will be holding onto another pilot's hand. It's just really cool and immersive, I wish more games did that.
i miss titanfall 1. i loved hunting titans as a pilot. my best game was a 26/0 where i somehow managed to not die once. i miss having all my friends on 360 playing the same game.
360 was peak gaming. At least for fps
Once saw an enemy grunt dragging away a wounded comrade. It was magical
Titanfall to me always felt like the next step IW wanted to go after MW2, like "How do we top this juggernaut of a game?" Gritty scifi with solid gameplay and giant mechs!
Titanfalls custom drop in animations and extractions to start and end a match is one of the bigger reason why I fell in love with the game.
Instead of just going COD style and spawning everyone in with a giant 10 second counter going down on your screen, they decided to actually use the animation to not only give a bit of context of what you are getting into lore wise on top of it just being a good animation, but it disguised loading players in and starting the match.
It just felt more real and felt like you were actually apart of the world and the battle rather than just spawning in magically.
I mean literally I love this series so much my fursona has jack coopers arm tattoo and I even plan on getting that tattoo IRL. This game seriously impacted me growing up.
I absolutely loved the dynamic music in Titanfall 1. Made the game feel like the trailer every match.
I miss how reactive the grunts were to a pilot's presence.
Like when you were a militia pilot that runs into a group of militia grunts, they react in awe like a superhero just dropped out of the sky.
While the IMC grunts react with more professionalism when a friendly pilot comes by, saluting and asking if they have any new orders from the pilot.
The animations too. If you've ever stopped to watch the combat between the AI it's pretty cool. Watching a line grunt take on two foes in hand to hand combat, or watching as a specter holds a grunt up by his neck and watching the grunt try to escape before his throat is crushed.
It's super apparent how much love they put into Titanfall 1, and while it's not to say Titanfall 2 didn't have the love and care put into it, Titanfall 1 had so much world building and so much little bits of care that realistically no one would notice
28:58 The saddest part was that the DDOS attacks have largerly stopped by that point for months, so EA just pulled off shelves a completely fine and working game with no warning
I played Titanfall 1 a lot. Like, a lot alot. My favorite weapon was the dmr rifle, and my favorite titan loadout was the Styrder with the 4 barreled rocket launcher with full auto upgrade. Dashing around and barrel stuffing people with a fully automatic bazooka was so fun.

It’s so refreshing to see a smart pistol defender. Yeah I didn’t really use it against pilots much, but popping off grunts like it’s nobody’s business was awesome
That whole segment about the art style and atmosphere was awesome
adoring the titanfall content, would love to see more
Bricky I will never be able to thank you enough for talking about titanfall 2 when it came out and convincing me to buy it all those years ago. It will forever hold a very special place in my heart and I have you to thank for that. Let’s hope Respawn fights to keep Titanfall as part of their company so we can enjoy it more as the loyal fans of the universe!
I did not get to play the first Titanfall, but I feel that the "My Beloved" for the SMART Pistol was more than earned.
Can confirm as a Titanfall 1 original player (can’t play now sad) and Titanfall 2 active player that frontier defense is extremely extremely extremely (why tf is it so good) mode. Highly recommend a try as it’s so good and personally worth a video
Even if the Campaign really just felt like a normal match, they managed to capture the atmosphere perfectly.
So nice to see someone whos just passionate as you about something like that.
Love all your videos man. started watching your content when you were basically just covering league and gotta say, has been a true joy to see your shift in content and what the channel has become. goes to show, you should always create the content that you really want to create :). also that u started covering wh40k just when i discovered it myself was a blast.
keep doing what you do man :)
I just wanna say, this kind of game-universe analysis video changed my perspective on world entirely; there's details I've never considered before or payed attention to, so I wanted to thank you for shining a light on those aspects of games
Finally someone who actually understands why grunts exist. The amount of people who just don’t get such a simple concept always bugged me
Woolie had the right idea, I think. The last twinklings of hope for Titanfall are finally gone. We can't be hurt any more.
I remember my first time playing the Demeter mission. This game made me appreciate great game design more than I was capable of before. I also remember this map that had massive fauna roaming around outside that kinda gave off a sense of dread that eclipsed the weird pterodactyl things in the desert. Freaking great game.
I thought he might've mentioned titan off hand weapons actually being offhand weapons in tf1. You could fire them while reloading or while firing your main weapon. also the first person titan embarking was so cool, especially entering an Atlas' top-side hatch.
I remember when titanfall 1 got announced and then released, I fell in love with it, thank you for covering this game ❤
Big fat yes to having a replica of that kit, that would be AWESOME!
This brought back a lot of memories and nostalgia, miss this game
Titanfall 2 will always hold a special place in my heart as the first true FPS game little 9 year old me got on Christmas day.
Also thank you for touching on the milsim aspect of this. I'm a huge nerd for stuff like arma and gunner heat, so when a universe is so advanced that you can have wild shit like in titanfall fit, it sort of becomes a fictional milsim, albeit far different than something like ground branch. I love the fact that all of the weapons, gear, titans, guns, everything looks like function is vital and it was built to be used in combat, as opposed to universes like Halo where the primary transportation on ground is an open top pickup truck because cool space truck.
Man I feel like the aesthetic of titsnfall 1 was sooo unmatched I still will randomly play a match just because it’s so visually amazing… AND THE MAPS
I love how it was still in the era where competitive gaming wasnt grasped by every company, and the maps reflected that. Tf1 maps arnt competitively useable BUT they are super fantastic for titans and pilots to both use, which is way more enjoyable. I dont like the 3 lane maps of tf|2, it feels empty compared to the original maps.
@@ratlosmappy 3-lane map design in general has been beaten to death for a long, long time now, mostly thanks to Treyarch. Despite the divisiveness of MW2019's maps, I still loved them for just how differently they felt and played, same with TF1.
Everything you say is so spot on! I pre-order the $250 edition the second it was on sale and got there at midnight to get it and it was better than I could have even wished. I love this game series so much. Seriously the world building is fantastic. Titanfall 2 is damn near perfect but I miss rodeoing Titans, the grunts that were actually decently smart because of azure cloud and customizing your Titan AI voice. I thought with the explosion and cash cow that Apex is was that EA would let Respawn do what ever they want. I guess EA just wants more Star Wars money.
My best Titanfall moment came from the multiplayer match where, completely uncoordinated, me and five teammates dropped our Titans within about 20 feet and 5 seconds of each other and we all jumped in simultaneously. I half expected a genuine Titan to drop outside my flat in that moment.
Something I actually really liked that the sequel didn't do was staying in first person when entering and exiting the titan. It just felt more immersive to me. Other thing I liked more were the rodeoing and the titan voices, as mentioned in the video.
BT 7274 OUR beloved. This is not an option this is a command!
But hot damn I played TF since release and gahtdamn does it hurt to see what happened to this series
Personally, gameplay wise, Titanfall 2 feels more like a spin-off sequel to Apex more than Apex to Titanfall 2, mainly cause everything feels better on TF2 (for me at least).
Apex movement system is a heavily neutered/shackled version of TF|2 movement system so you are not wrong in feeling that way
I'm just dying for more stuff in the Titanfall universe, in general. The potential for fantastic games, maybe even books and movies, is staggering.
YES! Thank you so much for making this video bricky! I played the titanfall series from the very beginning and always loved the first entry despite its flaws
Don’t think I’ve seen Bricky this emotional in a while. Sending positive vibes for enjoying nostalgia and building new experiences.
I need more titanfall , i need it
I remember getting it a few days after release and blowing people's minds with it's insanity but years later coming back and still loving it and arguably even more with the additional content they added while I was gone, Sid warning other titans that I'd destroy them still gives me goose bumps.
Calling in your first Titan is just one of those “gaming moments” where your jaw just dropped.
I love seeing support for the northstar client. Even if it is not strictly necessary anymore they have added so many quality of life changes that are fantastic for the lifespan of this game. See you out on the frontier pilots !
The Titanfall community, while insane and schizophrenic, is some of the best experiences I've had. Even through the ddos situation of 2021and 2022, the homies just got closer and closer. Hit shots pilots in honor of the burning man
22:11
I loved Rodeo'ing in TF1... it was always just me, my two satchels, my Deadman's Trigger, and my R-101.
I just love how this video is bricky gushing over something he loves, such a well structured video 😂
Titanfall 2 remains possibly the best pvp fps ever made
I agree with everything in this vid
Always love the Titanfall 1 appreciation ❤️
Yeah, Bricky yet again showing us that you get can your point across and have fun at the same time. I love these videos :)
Talking about the intro to the match and exit of the match sequence the word you were looking for is diegetic. Entering and leaving a match through in world context is very cool, and in my opinion only improves gameplay.
I miss Titanfall 1. The armor was my personal favorite and the titans and maps, just ooh boy it was all good.
The IMC assault pilot armor is my favorite by far.
Something that I missed so much from TF1 was everything being in first person. Felt so much more grounded and immersive
Titanfall 1's battle for Demeter was so iconic
this video unlocked some forgotten memories in my brain, i just now remembered my favourite map from tf1, it was that forest map i miss it in tf2
I remember buying Titanfall 1 when I was younger and I had no idea what I was in store for. I enjoy Apex but its a shame we aren't gonna get a titanfall 3 any time soon
I like that you mentioned frontier defense and it's fans. I love it so much and wish it got more love
