Explorers! You need to review and get your hands on a ESP MX-250, MX-II or the holy grail MX-220. I have a few and finally found the holy grail MX-220. Coming soon! :)
MESA SEAN!?
Oh god, plz make this happen Trogly
I wish I had a 250!!!
they are going for 30 40 k if i remember correctly
The classic Hetfield
Hell yeah. Just got done with a jam session playing my 1984 epi explorer. Rock on!
An awesome '80s Gibson, very cool.
Also if you want too you should totally get your hands on the ESP MX-250 or 220 explorers, they are the king of the explorer world. ESP completely stopped making them last year.
Trogly's in the HOUSE!!!
Greg’s in the HOUSE!!!
Greg in the house
Sarge, Nathaniel and Greg, greetings.
My name is Steve and I'm here for my daily dose...............
Woohoo
It's his house
Dirty fingers on the Black out Explorer is fantastic.
Never owned those body shapes, but Gibson explorers are starting to grow on me
I just bought a tobacco burst Firebird on a whim and I have to say that I really like it. It’s definitely turned me on to guitars of that nature and I now stop to look at things like Flying V’s and Explorers.
get one they rock, I have 2!
Let's explore
Get a ken lawrence explorer on the show !
That would be one of the coolest videos he could do.
@@theshotgunscientists 100% man
That mystery explorer was made between 76-1989. It’s got that “in between” body shape. The 58 explorers and todays explorers have different body shapes. The originals, 76-89, 89-present for all 3 different Gibson explorer body shapes. You can tell a 76-89 explorer by the way the left side shoulder of the body is shaped. And by the funky looking pickguard. 58 guards are big and squared off above the pots, 76-89’s are similar but rounded off and slimmer, and modern guards are pointy and slim. The mystery explorer you had was made between 76 and 89 and was just painted with 2 different kinds of black paint.
Austin is in His House 🏠 of Guitars
🏡 🎸
Good evening Randy
Howdy Randy
Don’t forgot the 1984 Epiphone Explorer REISSUE’s they did!! Basically the James Hetfield edition. No pick guards! The ebony one is SO MEAN looking. I gotta say, I think the pick guard ruins them. I think they came out in 2011 or 2012. So much fun to play!!
Had a half a bottle tonight, but here for my daily dose
@@CatBlackGuitars Both !
I like that Blackout Explorer. It makes me think Mathias Jabs of the Scorpions would appreciate that for the name alone.
The blacked out one was my favorite, besides those Epiphone's at the end.
Every day I hope my daily dose of guitar information includes a Jimmy Dean NASCAR guitar.
Me too lol 🌭
Ditto
✌️
Love the Figured Mahogany, the CMEs are pretty nice too as I remember checking them out when they were first released.
I LOOOOOOOVE EXPLORERS! Just got a new one from Gibson and I'm thrilled! Antique natural!
You forgot the Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Explorer Standard Benchmark Edition. These things came with awesome maple tops, body and neck binding, trapeze inlays and Custom Bucker Pickups.
My Explorer I purchased from Reverb last week is coming tomorrow. 2002 '76 reissue black with white pick guard. Ive always wanted one and it's in excellent condition (let's hope) with black case and white felt. I really don't like the brown cases with the pink so I couldnt pass on it.
I took my 2020 epi explorer sanded it down, filled in the cavity with compound, painted it white, put emgs in it. Amazing.
My late best mate John had a 1884 silver burst Flying V , bloody awesome,
If you have a Mexican custom body shop near you, you can have sparkle done for VERY reasonable prices. I had a tele done by my local low-rider paint guys for $100 and a case of Modelo.
AWESOME video Austin! You know how I feel about the Explorer! Keep up the great content!
I always liked the explorer pro models with the inlays. I remember seeing them in a musicians friend catalog while in high school
Lovin the guitar at the end
I have two Explorers. A 1994 Custom Shop Edition in a black "Silver Fox" finish with 496 and 500 pickups and black hardware (it had a white pick guard new, but I installed a black one) and a 1984 Explorer with triple P-90 pickups and a Gibson Kahler bridge. Fun guitars.
I bought an 08 explorer brand new in 2009 at a guitar center in Spokane Washington and I still use that guitar as one of my main guitars to this day
I was at the Dallas international guitar show in 2021 and I remember seeing someone had a cart with something like 8 of those holy explorers.
The coolest explorer I've seen in a long time is the Mod Collection Explorer Custom Black/Gold with Lyre Vibrola added. He kinda gave it a once over in the video, but you never really see those style tailpieces with the Walrus Tooth vibrato arm on explorers and it looks really cool!
Yes!! Explorers are my favorites I'm so happy to see another video of yours with one!
When I were a lad in the 80s, I lusted after a black Ibanez Destroyer, 3 humbucker in black with gold hardware.
I have one of the tobacco sunburst explorer pro's from '07. great guitar- can't part with it either as it was my first gibson and holds immense sentimental value
Nice video. I like explorers. I think the white ones or the natural look best
Love the silver burst to cool 😎
Got to love whole episode dedicated to Explorers!
For the life of me I've never been able to find the seems where Gibson pieced together the pieces of mahogany on my new EXPLORER... And I'VE LOOKED.
Love Explorers...got a vintage '76 model back in 1979...been my friend and enemy ever since....best mahogany I have ever owned.
Sparkle tops are awesome especially burst that one on the last vid was amazing....
Id love to see this with the flying v shape aswell!
I have a Music Man cutlass with a silver sparkle burst finish. Totally amazing.
I bought an Epiphone Custom Shop 1984 Explorer in Arctic White recently as a throwback to my very first guitar. A Cort Effector.
So glad you're exploring this body shape.
Finally made it
Two seconds after Ice cream kid
So close brother. Enjoy your silver medal.
Welcome Al

I remember in the mid 2000s spending my IT lessons in school avoiding work and staring at Flying Vs and Explorers online, checking 'guitar of the day' haha. Always really liked the Explorer Pro, would love to try one out if I had the chance
I never really thought much about explorers or flying vs not really my style until the newer version if skynard I know the old line up used then they sound insane but just wasn't my cup a tea if you understand but watching your reviews has intrigued my curiosity, thank you for expanding my brain beyond its shelter world view.. very cool..
Game time 🏈 thanks for the early enough upload 👍
I think I'm going to look into the Epiphone explorers. I like the head stock, everything about that guitar more and more... That blacked out was the stuff, crazy cool...
Thanks, trogely
Randy, deep in Michigan's National Forest
I'd love to see you review an 84 reissue Explorer. I think they came out in 07 or 08. They were blatantly obviously a James Hetfield signature guitar without actually being a signature guitar. I know it would be a turnoff for you though since they came with EMG's.
I have an Epiphone 58' Korina with gold hardware and a black pickguard that's awesome , it's a great guitar and the pickups are pretty decent.
The trans black explorer pro, is hands down one of Gibsons nicest explorer releases to date
The 80s CMT Explorers are my dream guitars.
The dark red metallic looks cool
Thanks 👍
finally an Explorer video! they are my favorite by far.
Would love to see you document the 1984 3x p90 camouflage explorer!
I got a blackout off reverb for 1200 in 2020 if you checked the history... I absolutely love it...
I also own the 2019 silver burst LPC m2m you made an offer on in IL. (im not in IL)
I've been looking for an Explorer Pro for some years now. The trans Black is gorgeous.
Pickups are neat. Just like fender with lace senin that period.
that was awesome dude
I have an Epi Exployer Bass , Korina wood , got it at a super price , the person who bought never used it so it still looked brand new only problem was the case had 1 broke latch .
Have a Thunderbird Bass I bought new in the 90s .
Would Love to have a SG Bass/ Or Epi.
I love the different shapes of these , the double cut away LP BASS , LP Bass.
I broke my Left hand , my left fist is changed , the bone going up to the knuckle on the pinky , narrow neck works best for my left hand ,
And the Gibson necks work great for me
I've got the Explorer RD prototype with the Moog electronics, none were produced
I still love my '85 with a factory Kahler and OG Dirty Fingers =D
How about the Explorer 90? I had a silver one with a humbucker with a split and a single coil. Those were great guitars.
The black prism i love! But on an explorer. Star Trek !
Christmas space guitar, Rad
I had one of the Rick Nielsen Hamer Futura guitars, like the original Futuras. Should have kept it....
Those sparkles on the Futura look like the Hubble ultra deep field.
Last night I was on Reverb looking to get a Gibson Futura or Explorer..and what does Trogly have on his channel today..All the Futuras and Explorers I was looking at last night! I still regret not picking up one of the Hot Rod series Gibson Futura's in Metallic Silver..these models had metallic finishes with Aluminum pickguard, knobs and Aluminum extended truss rod cover.
The brimstone burst explorer is soooo effing sweet!
Thank you for another great vid! By any off chance, have you seen Schecter's "Ultra Violet" finish?
An explorer video? Finally!
Early 80s CMT Explorers are heavy compared to an all mahogany Explorer.. Great review... Thanks.
Another close call.
Welcome Sgt. Grinch
I have no idea how you all get here so early!
My internet is dreadful.............
Of course I live in Northern Michigan so its no surprise my internet is sketchy at best.
Heck, I've got to drive over an hour to the nearest Music Store and even then its a tiny place with maybe 30 guitars!
EDIT: It is Winter, that drive would be closer to 90 minutes (1-way)...................
Trogly you should review these:
The 2015 "silver fox" Brian Ray SG Standard
The 2002 Gibson Les Paul Limited Edition All Mahogany 3xSeymour Duncan pickups - those ones are surprisingly cheap, I don't think people know about them so they think they are modded.
I never owned a Gibson explorer but I have had an Ibanez Destroyer. Despite the Kahler trem the guitar was a beast. Wish I had held onto it.
Need to review the 70s Explorer that’s always sold out. I haven’t seen any good reviews/demos of it yet.
We need an explorer docu series
I recently sold my X-plorer pro trans black on Reverb. Took a $600 loss on it. Was an amazing specimen too, highly figured. I loved looking at it, but in the end the switch location made it unfavorable to play (I flick mid-solo). Now I'm watching for those 2011 '84 reissues with floyd rose (and switch by the knobs). More my style.
If one guitar needs metallic sparkles, it’s the explorer
yesss Gibson needs to do this asap
@@MiguelMakesMusic They did make a finish called black prism that was exactly that. The Japanese custom in this video is basically exactly what Gibson did in the 80's. Very very rare though.
Forgot the Extura. I'd love to see a side by side with the Epiphone Prophecy Extura, and a Brendan Small ghost horse. For spec and feel differences.
You should try a Futura. As wonky as they look they look much better when holding it in playing position, still the explorer shape is better. I have a Futura from the first epiphone prophecy line, just to look at it on the stand I hate it, but when held in the mirror it looks much better.
Check out the epiphone prophecy explorer.
I have a 76 Limited Edition Explorer with reversed head. I can't find any information about that, does anybody know something about it?
I look forward to your videos, and learn something new every day. You are a man among men. May your beard grow ever longer.
That Explorer is sweet.
The spilt V headstock Explorer is one of my dream guitars.
I can see why. That s fantastic.
I've seen a Korina Triple Pickup Les Paul Custom with the split-V headstock, pretty cool looking.
@@hkguitar1984 I’ve seen that one as well. Korina+Split V Headstock=😍
Have you documented an E90 Explorer? I just saw one for sale in Germany (Black with H-S configuration), I never knew these existed
What I would do for one of those holy explorers.... Stu Mackenzie really rocks on it!
Awesome
Good lord, Trogly. The Explorer is by far my favourite shape. Thanks for the vid. :)
Get your guns, it's hunting time.
Futuras look like an Explorer wearing a corset (and a tightly laced one, at that).
I have an Explorer with that Black Prism paint job… I believe it is 2005.. I can’t find anything on it online.. run across anything.. I can find some E2’s from 1980… thanks in advance
Wondering if as a Strat fan my favorite Gibson’s are Exploer’s🤔..Thanks Trogly 👍💯
You should look into Dommenget's Matthias Jabs Signature Explorers, the EX90 galaxy is gorgeous. They're basically Gibson Explorer 90's (which he used earlier in his career) in steroids.
The X-Plorer came in Studio and Pro series, made from 2003 till 2008 and they hardly show up on Reverb. The Pro has regular humbuckers, binding and showing some wood grain.
I have a sparkly red Studio, which has no binding, no pickguard and no wood showing (basswood) and minihumbuckers. Oh yeah, and the three knobs are lined up downwards.
I intended to do a review video Trogly style, but I got distracted by other things to be done. Sorry bout that. One day..
I've gotten to try three '21 Gibson Les Paul Junior Tribute basses, and they all had nicely figured mahogany bodies and/or flame maple necks! Really took me by surprise. Shoddy workmanship though, unfortunately.
The Holy Explorer reminds me a lot of the Guild Blade Runner. I wonder if one was an attempt to mimic the other.
Gibson split headstock is so cool to me because of the Dimebag effect
You love it, and I think it's the worst headstock out there, lol. We all have different tastes!
Just buy a Dean Z.
I had a heavy pearl flake Wht. with gold hardware and a Gibson Kayler. got it at a Arnald and Morgan going out of business sale listed 1399.00 paid 700.oo can't remember the year ...want to say 86 ??? any info would be appreciated.
Fascinating that suddenly the Futura is available for sale from Gibson and Epiphone. That design didn't become as a production model originally 64 years ago. Neither did the Moderne. One instance I'm conscious of in which the forked headstock was revived for a signature model was in the context of the Michael Schenker V.
