The covers being the same would be a disaster because you could take your slim, put the pro cover on it and return it right back to the store, or sell it online... people would be buying slims for 700, and half of them would never have a clue

It’s not really 4 generations down, it’s really 1.5 generations down (but still far too late, I agree). During the Xbox 360 era they had arguably the strongest 3rd party support out of any console manufacturer. The problems only started last gen with the Xbox One
@@matayorague8821 We can discuss the successfulness of the generations of xbox but we really are talking about whether the studios stayed on the platform. That's a separate thing from successfulness. I actually agree with you halfway because Xbox 360 was my first proper gaming console I bought it for halo 3 a year in advance. But I switched over to PS3 in 2010 because xbox 360 was starting to bleeding games mid-gen, it got worse later on. Losing games was a problem for every generation of Xbox not just the less successful ones. And personally I think the success of the first half of the Xbox 360 generation postponed the discussion of it. THE problem I think is that they always treated it like a gimmicky gadget despite the money they threw at it instead of a long term project that needed planning. In this case money really can’t solve everything

In 360 era they literally paid two studios for like three games trying to buy xbox 360 into Japan and look how that went. Their attitude for Japanese audience is why they are at the current situation because 1 they are arrogant in thinking money can solve all problems and 2 they never had any long term planning for any of the four generations of consoles and they are wondering what went wrong? They didn’t think to look in the mirror is what I think went wrong. Every 2 years they found some new directions and “think gamers are gonna love that” and this is literally what killed off latter half of 360 gen when it lost momentum in the last few years of its life

The only point I agree with you on is that they’ve always been terrible in the Japanese market and have only made sincere progress in the past 3 years but it’s too little too late. I’ve always been a PlayStation guy. I’ve had every PS console and the last Xbox console I owned was a 360. The 360 was treated much better by Microsoft that what you claim. It was built from the ground up for online connectivity and community in a way that Sony never really caught up to, which is why party chats and cross-game chat came so late and were so much worse, to say nothing of the other features that were missing until late in the life cycle. Xbox Live Arcade, Achievements, Avatars etc. were all seen as somewhat gimmicky but were innovative at the time and so much of what Xbox pioneered in that generation became standard across the industry. To speak specifically about 3rd party games, Xbox 360 was the platform of choice for 3rd party developers because it had developer-friendly architecture and developed a strong install base. Xbox 360 didn’t lose 3rd party games out of nowhere btw. Sony paid millions of dollars for PS3 timed exclusives for Call of Duty maps and even full games. I switched to PS3 in 2009 because so many great new exclusives were coming out and so many PS2 games were getting remasters, but there was no doubt Xbox was still a great platform to be on at the time.

The whole console covers idea is such a trainwreck in execution. First they release the slim which has different covers from the OG. Then the pro also has different covers from the first two models. On top of that, you release the 30th anniversary consoles, but no covers! That was the whole point of the covers to begin with!!

What's interesting is: the Anniversary PS5 Pro was delisted from the site. However, the Portal, Dualsense, and Dualsense Edge are still there. I hope that means they're going to make more of the controllers eventually.
Horizon 3 being still ways out is not surprising. We all know that AAA titles nowadays take up 5-6 years of development time, and while a sequel usually needs a bit less (since not everything has to be created from the ground up), it's often still several years. The astounding speed of Insomniac can't just be taken for granted and expected from everyone else too. And since H:FW released in 2022, I would not really expect the 3rd entry any time before 2026 / 2027. Also... I'd rather wait a year longer and get a polished game than an earlier released bug-riddled mess. Also it's one of my favorite PS franchises ever, and I'll happily replay the first two games and their DLCs yet another time...
Agree. Having been out of the loop for the entire PS3 and PS4 generations, the only way I could get PS5 during the Sony lottery days, was bundled with Horizon. So got it. And at first didn’t get into it, my 5 sat mostly unused for over a year. Then I got past the opening where you take the ride down into the valley and….hooked! Absolutely LOVE Forbidden West, so much so I bought a PS4 Slim new at Walmart and Zero Dawn in January and enjoyed both. Easily one of my favorite franchises
Phil Spencer and Booty are the problem. They have very great hardware, the best backwards compatibility of this generation but they simply lack proper exclusives and their quality control and decision making regarding their studios is horrific.
With how much games cost to make nowadays and with games that make most their money from in-game purchases, it makes sense to see less exclusive games.

They didn't give up. Hardware isn't selling right now for anyone. Sony's PS5 has dropped almost 60 percent in sales around the world including Europe and PS5 Pro sales are non-existent. So, no. Xbox is smarter than PlayStation. Hardware sales are dying because the economy and the future is poor at best. Maybe this new hardware for next generation will be in the cloud, who knows. But please this isn't a Microsoft problem, but a world problem for all industries.

Microsoft knows why some devs arent on xbox... Xbox customers on average do not buy games, they get them on Gamepass instead. This is a fact. You, as a customer would be silly to buy full priced games when you can pay a fraction of that and still play the game you want. Therefore, if im a dev, the only way im doing the work to port my game to your hardware, is if you give me a big up front payment. Period. Make it worth my while. If i can only expect to sell a few thousand copies on your hardware, then it isnt worth my time to do the work, i may lose money doing it. Nintendo and Sony still have healthy thriving ecosystems by selling software, they also have exponentially more users that buy software...this doesnt take a rocket scientist to understand why some devs dont F with xbox...its because of the way they are running their business
Don't compare Sony to Nintendo consumers or even Microsoft for that matter since all Gears of War games for the Xbox 360 servers are still being supported by Microsoft due to its popularity. Historically most Sony consumers don't support their first party games hence why most of their IPs are no longer available. Currently most Sony consumers buy PS5s to play third party games. On the other hand, Nintendo consumers do support their first party games if you look at sales numbers by each franchise and why many of them are still around since the NES or SNES generation.

Most Sony first party game sales are low compared to Nintendo franchises and it's not close. Also check which games are the most popular on PS5: FIFA (former),COD, GTA V, Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite, etc. Check which games are more popular on the other systems and you will see many first party games along the same ones on Sony's consoles.

Man, seeing the Until Dawn remake in action now that it’s actually out is really disappointing. They completely changed the lighting overall, which we knew about, but I didn’t realize how drastically that changes the atmosphere and tone of the game. It’s like they removed all the style from the game. And it has a 30fps cap when the original was uncapped and could get to 60fps on PS4 Pro/PS5. Just such baffling choices for what should be an “enhanced remake”.
I just picked up a physical copy of the original PS4 game for fear that the remake would make it unavailable. I am very happy with the way that version still holds up. Absolutely did not need to be remade, remastered, upscaled, whatever.
Always good to see others opinions.. I have noticed a few new scenes so far (here's hoping for more). I have not been liking the change to the soundtrack. But the lighting, more detailed environments, and the improved character models are winning over. Reactions are more believable and the lighting is more realistic. I know that many scenes were drastically darkened to hide rough edges on the original. Overall I have been enjoying it though I know the artistic changes may not go over well with many gamers.
I think 300 Hours of playtime on PS4 or PS5, while giving priority to PSN IDs that haven't purchased a PS5 directly from Sony before, would be a good middle ground compromise to limit scalpers. And I think for limited releases, taking various factors into consideration such as previous purchase history, account history such as time spent in PSN parties, or time spent playing multiplayer games, and number of trophies on the account... As well as a staggered style of pre-ordering where requests are collected via email or PSN account registration, and then run against the list of factors to determine priority, would be an excellent way to pretty much eliminate the risk of scalpers entirely. Especially if you also limit purchases to 1 per account.
I loved HZD, great story and fantastic gameplay, but HFW succumbed to Woke. At the moment I am expecting not to get the next game because of DEI. I would love to see the next part of Aloy's story though - providing it's not infested with Woke.

Reminds me of the vita. Sony got greedy and wanted to sell their proprietary cars for 2-5x the price on a regular so card. It ended up costing them the whole handheld generation and they still didn’t learn where to stop.

i've always called the Xbox Series S a mistake and it continues to prove me right now that devs have completely abandoned Xbox because of it. Xbox should've done the PS5 approach from the start which is a Digital Series X and a Disc version Series X

I'm sorry I just don't believe an image from a foreign source and no comment from Sony. It literally makes no sense. First of all Sony doesn't make much money from covers. If they did they'd be blasting them out everywhere with a billion different versions. Secondly it makes no sense to have the slim be modular and the Pro be modular but then have them be incompatibly modular. Third, I'd say 75% of all Playstations sold are the original version and not the slim. The percentage of people upgrading to Pro from the slim has to be minimal. Making a third version of plates just to make people upgrade their plates seems like a wild reach for such a small percentage of people.
There’s literally 3 new colors going up for pre order next week, I’m sure sony would’ve advertised the pro in different colors SHOULD there be specific plates for the console. From a marketing standpoint it makes sense to show off exclusive accessories, but overall I’m not buying the ‘pro’ plate fiasco

Where I live, the PS5 disc drive are sold out and not even the official Sony retail have in stock. Plenty of pre-orders for the Pro console stilla available, but no disc drive to be found.
Why will the pro sell out immediately? It is a niche console. It is not for the masses. Also , keeping the pre orders open does not mean it is not selling. It can mean that Sony reopened the pre orders because they had enough for the first batch and they are planning the second batch. Pre orders are numbers, not sales. This thing can sell during the holidays with price cuts, or after people will see more differences between the base ps5 and the pro and who knows, if there will be a gta6 pro version…

As a long time fan and supporter, I would suggest to reduce the time dedicated to the ps5 hub which is still USA exclusive, the conclusion is always that it is still being worked on, and is something the mayority of users can't see. It is literally wasted time for the audience and could be reduced in pro of the audience's interest. Awesome work as always, I do support, recommend and like this channel a lot, that's why I feel the need to make such suggestion.

Why haven’t companies learned how to handle these collector items? I get that if you make too many it loses its collector appeal. But some of these numbers are so low it makes no sense. How have they not learned from all the eBay bs that they can produce two or three times as much, make their customers happy, and make a lot more money. What’s so hard about this? Or open up a preorder window, produce as many as you need to cover preorders and a certain percentage more? Seems like a no brainer.
It's not that unreasonable. It's been confirmed both models are the same width. The Pro is taller, but that difference in size would go to those ridges it has along the mid-point. Also maintaining yet another line of products seems to me like more of a logistics headache than it is worth. But then, what do I know?
You are wrong on the ps5 covers. Slim and pro will be the same. In the image you showed, the chart are for the original Ps5 covers, that are one piece.
The plates for the disc drive fits the pro..I confirmed it on Monday with a phone call to an actual person at Playstation customer support from the hardware division..they said they no other information about the rest of the plates because the console is too new..
It's true that PS5 Pro is good for game development in terms of standardizing future console tech. That said, let's not be coy, Sony is also absolutely testing how much consumers are willing to put up with regarding both the $700 price tag and the lack of a disc drive. There's no reality in which the PS6 launches at the same or lower price as the Pro, nor is there any reality in which they can just skim $150-$200 off the Pro and add a drive to make it an enticing option (which also means lowering the og PS5's price).
The cover thing is so silly. Not a big deal imo, but still. They look identical dimension wise, so to not have them be compatible because of how they clip on is dumb.

Ww recently got an announcement for a new Coffee Talk game, this one being Coffee Talk Tokyo, which looks great. I hope they ramp up the production value a bit, matching something like Sea of Stars. I think a Coffee Talk set in London would have been great too

It’s not a remaster it’s a total remake from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5. It’s full price but don’t worry it has a physical copy. Those go on sales quite fast.

The whole console covers idea is such a trainwreck in execution. First they release the slim which has different covers from the OG. Then the pro also has different covers from the first two models. On top of that, you release the 30th anniversary consoles, but no covers! That was the whole point of the covers to begin with!!
For real, you think they would’ve released a 30th anniversary cover for people with the OG PS5 consoles. Literally no love for the people that bought the console on release.

What's interesting is: the Anniversary PS5 Pro was delisted from the site. However, the Portal, Dualsense, and Dualsense Edge are still there. I hope that means they're going to make more of the controllers eventually.

Horizon 3 being still ways out is not surprising. We all know that AAA titles nowadays take up 5-6 years of development time, and while a sequel usually needs a bit less (since not everything has to be created from the ground up), it's often still several years. The astounding speed of Insomniac can't just be taken for granted and expected from everyone else too. And since H:FW released in 2022, I would not really expect the 3rd entry any time before 2026 / 2027. Also... I'd rather wait a year longer and get a polished game than an earlier released bug-riddled mess.
Also it's one of my favorite PS franchises ever, and I'll happily replay the first two games and their DLCs yet another time...
Agree. Having been out of the loop for the entire PS3 and PS4 generations, the only way I could get PS5 during the Sony lottery days, was bundled with Horizon. So got it. And at first didn’t get into it, my 5 sat mostly unused for over a year. Then I got past the opening where you take the ride down into the valley and….hooked! Absolutely LOVE Forbidden West, so much so I bought a PS4 Slim new at Walmart and Zero Dawn in January and enjoyed both. Easily one of my favorite franchises

Phil Spencer and Booty are the problem. They have very great hardware, the best backwards compatibility of this generation but they simply lack proper exclusives and their quality control and decision making regarding their studios is horrific.

Xbox customers on average do not buy games, they get them on Gamepass instead. This is a fact. You, as a customer would be silly to buy full priced games when you can pay a fraction of that and still play the game you want.
Therefore, if im a dev, the only way im doing the work to port my game to your hardware, is if you give me a big up front payment. Period. Make it worth my while.
If i can only expect to sell a few thousand copies on your hardware, then it isnt worth my time to do the work, i may lose money doing it.
Nintendo and Sony still have healthy thriving ecosystems by selling software, they also have exponentially more users that buy software...this doesnt take a rocket scientist to understand why some devs dont F with xbox...its because of the way they are running their business
Don't compare Sony to Nintendo consumers or even Microsoft for that matter since all Gears of War games for the Xbox 360 servers are still being supported by Microsoft due to its popularity. Historically most Sony consumers don't support their first party games hence why most of their IPs are no longer available. Currently most Sony consumers buy PS5s to play third party games. On the other hand, Nintendo consumers do support their first party games if you look at sales numbers by each franchise and why many of them are still around since the NES or SNES generation.

Most Sony first party game sales are low compared to Nintendo franchises and it's not close. Also check which games are the most popular on PS5: FIFA (former),COD, GTA V, Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite, etc. Check which games are more popular on the other systems and you will see many first party games along the same ones on Sony's consoles.

Man, seeing the Until Dawn remake in action now that it’s actually out is really disappointing. They completely changed the lighting overall, which we knew about, but I didn’t realize how drastically that changes the atmosphere and tone of the game. It’s like they removed all the style from the game. And it has a 30fps cap when the original was uncapped and could get to 60fps on PS4 Pro/PS5. Just such baffling choices for what should be an “enhanced remake”.
I hate the way this "Remake" looks ! It's more of an enhanced Remaster anyway.
This is what happens when a game doesn't need a remake, so they just change things for the sake of it and to justify its existence.

I just picked up a physical copy of the original PS4 game for fear that the remake would make it unavailable. I am very happy with the way that version still holds up. Absolutely did not need to be remade, remastered, upscaled, whatever.
Always good to see others opinions.. I have noticed a few new scenes so far (here's hoping for more). I have not been liking the change to the soundtrack. But the lighting, more detailed environments, and the improved character models are winning over. Reactions are more believable and the lighting is more realistic. I know that many scenes were drastically darkened to hide rough edges on the original. Overall I have been enjoying it though I know the artistic changes may not go over well with many gamers.

I think 300 Hours of playtime on PS4 or PS5, while giving priority to PSN IDs that haven't purchased a PS5 directly from Sony before, would be a good middle ground compromise to limit scalpers.
And I think for limited releases, taking various factors into consideration such as previous purchase history, account history such as time spent in PSN parties, or time spent playing multiplayer games, and number of trophies on the account... As well as a staggered style of pre-ordering where requests are collected via email or PSN account registration, and then run against the list of factors to determine priority, would be an excellent way to pretty much eliminate the risk of scalpers entirely. Especially if you also limit purchases to 1 per account.

I loved HZD, great story and fantastic gameplay, but HFW succumbed to Woke. At the moment I am expecting not to get the next game because of DEI. I would love to see the next part of Aloy's story though - providing it's not infested with Woke.

Reminds me of the vita. Sony got greedy and wanted to sell their proprietary cars for 2-5x the price on a regular so card. It ended up costing them the whole handheld generation and they still didn’t learn where to stop.

I'm sorry I just don't believe an image from a foreign source and no comment from Sony. It literally makes no sense. First of all Sony doesn't make much money from covers. If they did they'd be blasting them out everywhere with a billion different versions. Secondly it makes no sense to have the slim be modular and the Pro be modular but then have them be incompatibly modular. Third, I'd say 75% of all Playstations sold are the original version and not the slim. The percentage of people upgrading to Pro from the slim has to be minimal. Making a third version of plates just to make people upgrade their plates seems like a wild reach for such a small percentage of people.
There’s literally 3 new colors going up for pre order next week, I’m sure sony would’ve advertised the pro in different colors SHOULD there be specific plates for the console. From a marketing standpoint it makes sense to show off exclusive accessories, but overall I’m not buying the ‘pro’ plate fiasco

Where I live, the PS5 disc drive are sold out and not even the official Sony retail have in stock. Plenty of pre-orders for the Pro console stilla available, but no disc drive to be found.
Why will the pro sell out immediately? It is a niche console. It is not for the masses. Also , keeping the pre orders open does not mean it is not selling. It can mean that Sony reopened the pre orders because they had enough for the first batch and they are planning the second batch. Pre orders are numbers, not sales. This thing can sell during the holidays with price cuts, or after people will see more differences between the base ps5 and the pro and who knows, if there will be a gta6 pro version…

As a long time fan and supporter, I would suggest to reduce the time dedicated to the ps5 hub which is still USA exclusive, the conclusion is always that it is still being worked on, and is something the mayority of users can't see. It is literally wasted time for the audience and could be reduced in pro of the audience's interest. Awesome work as always, I do support, recommend and like this channel a lot, that's why I feel the need to make such suggestion.

I'm pretty sure you can. The ssd slot is the same on the slim as on the og model. It would make no sense to make changes to it on the pro.

Why haven’t companies learned how to handle these collector items? I get that if you make too many it loses its collector appeal. But some of these numbers are so low it makes no sense. How have they not learned from all the eBay bs that they can produce two or three times as much, make their customers happy, and make a lot more money. What’s so hard about this? Or open up a preorder window, produce as many as you need to cover preorders and a certain percentage more? Seems like a no brainer.

It's not that unreasonable. It's been confirmed both models are the same width. The Pro is taller, but that difference in size would go to those ridges it has along the mid-point. Also maintaining yet another line of products seems to me like more of a logistics headache than it is worth. But then, what do I know?

The disc drive will work on the pro but not the plate for it.
The plates for the disc drive fits the pro..I confirmed it on Monday with a phone call to an actual person at Playstation customer support from the hardware division..they said they no other information about the rest of the plates because the console is too new..

It's true that PS5 Pro is good for game development in terms of standardizing future console tech. That said, let's not be coy, Sony is also absolutely testing how much consumers are willing to put up with regarding both the $700 price tag and the lack of a disc drive.
There's no reality in which the PS6 launches at the same or lower price as the Pro, nor is there any reality in which they can just skim $150-$200 off the Pro and add a drive to make it an enticing option (which also means lowering the og PS5's price).
