You could hire about 200k-400k people for the whole time that covid has existed with that money. Like wtf, a team of 10 people who know what they are doing could have done that app and the backend in a week. 5 more for filming a couple of ads, and let's say 5 more for general management.
PS Vita is such an amazing handheld. I swear Sony tried to kill it intentionally with their ridiculous proprietary SD cards and the Vita game library was quite limited unless you are a fan of JRPGs. At least it's been hacked so that you can use normal microSD cards in it now and run tons of emulators on it, it's an absolutely amazing system when it's jailbroken. Definitely my favorite handheld system of all time
The Vita was already a bastardization of the PSP, they just wanted to get away from the UMD format they screwed up (again, they are stupidly stingy about their media formats).
I remember begging my mom for a vita and then getting one with uncharted and killzone . It was the most amazing piece of technology I ever owned relative to the year it launched in , it’s a shame they made literally NO games for it . I could swear I would have enjoyed it today if they didn’t literally kill their own console

That iSmell seems like a great idea to me. Being able to pump smells out while playing a VR game, for example, would seriously add to the Immersion. The smell of burning or gun powder for a war game, or the smell of flowers for one of those calming VR experiences, or literally anything else. How the hell did this idea not take off? Even if you had to sell specific 'smell packs' to use for each particular game or app. I would buy those up in minute.
-Cost/access of refills. How many physical copies of games do you buy? Would you re-buy the Skyrim scent pack when you run out? -Lingering smells. You just finished a round of Tarkov and want to switch over to Minecraft. The fresh breeze smell is overtaken by the old gunpowder smell. -Resolution. How many vials would you be willing to refill/maintain/pay some service to maintain? You could have tailored scents for certain games but 5 scents for 10 games is a rack full of 50 scents that all run empty. I have always been intrigued by the idea of incorporating the neglected senses into VR, but currently I don't think taste or scent is going to be done well.
@@alexhb12333 An interesting alternative, perhaps, would be video game essential oils. Something optional, controllable, and much easier to use by the average consumer.
what is the resolution of tv and how does modern 3d movies scale on it does it shows hdr and other new stuffs also in 3d. beside i will also love to have a part of a tech history in my home to experience it .
Gta 5 is fucking amazing in 3D. The only problem is Nvidia doesn't update their drivers to allow 60 Hz 1080p. It's 720p 60 Hz or 1080p 24 Hz. I haven't tried VR but on 3D TV it's amazing. A Sony W955B from 2014. They killed 3D off too fast. Right before it became great really. VR in current form is a real fail imo because almost nobody can afford, place or use it. If some glasses and a blu-ray player are a problem what is a full-on helmet and all that specialized hardware and those cables? Kinekt and other games with 3D TV's that sell real movement like the PS move did would absolutely rocket off the shelves today.
@@zteaxon7787 I was going to mention something on these lines. I had a nice Sony 3D LED TV and gaming on it was awesome due to the high hardware based refresh rate. Mine was 120Hz at a time when 1080p monitors with anything above 60Hz weren't a thing. Yes I know this mean very little today but for the average console gamer, having that kind of response is awesome. (yes, consoles did not support that refresh rate but later, PC did and that kept these TVs relevant). I only replaced mine because I upgraded to a 4K model, also from Sony.
Could you imagine an Ismell with VR, though? They should have partnered their technology. Could you imagine playing your favorite game and smelling the must of a dungeon or the crisp clean air of a mountain top? And they would need even less of each chemical. All you need is a subtle wiff near the nose.
There is a company doing it right now I've forgotten the name and honestly cant be bothered searching for it I think LTT did a vid on it its modular and they have a shop where you can buy the bottles of scents
The idea of making custom *good* smells for your home isn't even that bad, but it would probably be extremely expensive getting the chemicals. And if you're only using like twelve of them, where would you go with the rest? Buying them all in single packs would require the user to know what those chemicals are, and buying them all would result in so much waste. Good in theory, but I could think of thousands of reasons why it wouldn't be that way
Let’s all be honest, BlockBuster wasn’t a “fail” but it failed as far as being behind in innovation. I felt way more excited to watch a movie when I went to the store with friends or family, had a DVD limit (due to being poor af), being able to see all the posters, newest games with in-person free trial, and getting the occasional microwave popcorn and candy at the check out counter
We used to go to the local equivalent after school a lot of the time, just spend ages browsing movies we knew we wouldn't get to see for a few years, plus because New Zealand was basically living in the past, for a while some stores were getting new release DVDs before the movies were even in our theaters! (the theater chains would buy second hand touched up reels to screen six months after movies were released in the US lol... that had to stop when they tried to get the government to pass a law banning importing dvds of movies that hadn't screened at theaters yet, and everyone realised what they were doing and they were forced to start buying reels the same time they came out in the US.
Many of Arun's viewer's are actually excited about being rickrolled. He is the only creator whose audience will be disappointed if he doesn't rickroll us.
@@andrewhighfill5313 No, we wouldn't, but you would find a way to blame MCU stans. Also, I'm disappointed in how he didn't mention the harassment campaigns and death threats related to the Snyder cut, and how they hide behind suicide charities the way gamergate hid behind colon cancer charities.
I miss 3D tv so much. I got into it about 2 years before it ended and I was hooked. Luckily they still make projectors with the tech but you can’t really get 3D new releases anymore. Sometimes you will get lucky and they will release it in another country but even that is getting rare.
"Smell-O-Vision" was tried in cinemas in the '50s, I think. I heard the fad died out pretty quickly because the scents couldn't be swapped out fast enough during films. Instead they became a muddled mess that irritated audiences and proved difficult to remove from upholstered seats.
Hearing how much money was wasted on that NHS app LITERALLY made me feel panicked. The amount of pure incompetence required for the development to cost even a FRACTION of that much is beyond absurd.
As many would say, the PSvita was more of a marketing fail, not a tech one (unless we count the gimmick rear touchpad. But again, many more consoles had worse gimmicks that often rendered many things unplayable, yet are considered successful, so this is definitely not such a "tech fail to forget", nowhere as bad as kinect). Many people will say how "it has no games and the very few ones are all anime games or VNs" but i had 2 of them in my lifetime (the first one being stolen, so i bought a refurbished one later on a really good deal), they were 2 different models too. I enjoyed them a lot and i still enjoy the second one, still able to find things to do with it. And as far as anime/VNs go i only had 2 out of dozens of games.
I'd say the tech failure was Sony's stubborn insistence on proprietary media which had been a problem with the company for a while, but reached a boiling point with the Vita because of how expensive the memory cards were, and the fact that they ONLY worked with the Vita and were only ever intended for the Vita vs. the Memory Stick which worked with the PSP and Sony's cameras, music players, cell phones, laptops, and PDAs, basically being a format that lost a format war to SD. I know that was what killed the Vita for me.
There is one, a 10/10 fail. Theranos. It was some company which claimed to have come up with a new way to test blood samples using less than half of blood needed to test using conventional means. They got tons of funding but later turned out to be a fraud
The weird thing is is when I was young I practically came up with the exact idea of iSmell without knowing that it even existed until I found out today
For anyone watching this in the future, the NHS app was a total flop, but did not cost £22 billion. That was the budget for ALL testing and tracing services across the country. The app and previous attempts to make it was part of that and cost a total £76 Million, which is still a lot but not even half a percent of the total budget. There should at least be a pinned comment to clarify this, but honestly I think the video should be edited or removed to avoid spreading misinformation.
I know, right? I love the smells of scented candles burning but don't use them very often, partly because I worry a lot about fires. (I've just always been paranoid about them since I was little, idk why.) That would be the perfect solution, plus be cheaper and offer more variety.
it makes me think of that Wrestemania when Giant Gonzalez choked out Undertaker with chloroform and announcer Macho Man is like "This isn't smellovision, but let me tell you what that smell is," or something like that.
the ismell could actually probably be used to great effect for things like meditation and general stress relief; can you imagine being able to call up the smell of petrichor on demand? or a field of flowers? the smell of a bonfire? the beach? combine that with some asmr and it kinda sounds magical tbh
I’m not sure what kind of technology you think it would be able to have but it’s impossible to just create any imaginable smell on earth from a little device like that. It would have a decent number of options hopefully but it wouldn’t be able to produce every possible smell, and replicating the smell of for example a bonfire most likely wouldn’t turn out to be quite as nice as a real bonfire
@@yeetingat100subs9 dude he just said they were literally making custom fart smells, meaning it was possible to create your own to some degree. And all of these are pretty freaking common smells, especially if it were to be marketed as a meditation tool. If science can make a jelly bean taste exactly like pizza, getting the smell of burning wood is a no brainier 🙄
I'm inside the tech industry and we get these demos long before the general public sees them (with a sign of an NDA occasionally). Bottom line a lot of these companies ask for our advice, but really don't like it when we come up with the reasons why it'll fail. They ignore it, we get yelled at by management for embarrassing them and then it all turns to crap.
Oh fun fact, that same logic is why the Apollo 2 I believe exploded, The engineers warned the top heads that it was a death trap, and that it was not wise, but Because the higher ups didn't want to hear shit, they just blamed the engineers and said they never warned the heads up
Can someone tell me how Arun looks while he's in a mild mood, cause he always smiles, I can't understand why.😅😂.To the start till the end of the video, he was trying hard not to laugh and show a big grin smile on his face, lol.😂😂🤣🤣.
dceu is the waste of dc,look at those animation(flashpoint, dark knight return, red son) marvel movies are not good too(they just use the time machine to cover the crap they made)but it is still better than dceu)
The iSmell would be a great invention if it could simulate the smell of freshly cut grass or te air after a rain or by night. This would be gorgeous while hearing Lo-fi and getting a head messages!
It should be 'an' due to the vowel pronunciation at the beginning of the word 'Xbox' (pronounced: ex-box). Another example for where 'an' is used for a word starting with a consonant: "An FBI investigation" (FBI is pronounced as eff-bee-aye).
Smell and taste are closely related so being able to smell can also be used to appreciating taste. That said the ismell technology could prove extremely useful for content that discusses food
I think what it truly needs is the ability to recognize the chemical make-up of any existing smell through a smell scanner. That would shift the focus from trying to sell a product with related smell to selling as many of the smell capsules as possible because consumers want to recreate a particular smell: copying perfume, fetishism, flower fields, addictive smells, etc...
dude the Cinema industry will die soon. TVs are just much better and new movies are faster avaible on Stream on demand platforms than ever. Also food and the person around you can 't annoy you.
Going to Blockbuster and actually choosing a DVD, or even VHS 😅, was part of the fun, it made it feel special, like a treat instead of flicking all the way thru Netflix and finding nothing to watch anyway.
@@Z64sports neither does one of the ps5 versions. It sucks but dosent make the go necessarily bad. Most people now are all digital anyway. But I agree that it's not best psp.
I feel the biggest issue with the kinect was missing: Microsoft massively cut down on the abilities (the original was a technological marvel) so it would fit their ideal pricing
That and any gaming hardware lives or dies on how well games utilize it And most kinect games weren't that great considering the extra cost of the kinect itself
Funnily enough, the Kinect is now somewhat desirable for people getting into VR, because it can give you full body tracking for cheap and with less hassle than setting up, charging, and putting on trackers, especially if your headset didn't need/come with the base stations needed for tracking
yes. even though you have to face in one direction or the tracking will become janky. this $5-20 sensor is pretty damn good compared to $500-800 basestation setups
Why do people act like putting trackers on your body is even somewhat a problem? At what point did we go from "I love my kids so much, God I hope I live tonight and wake up tomorrow" to "What? I have to bend over and wrap a small tracker around my foot?!?" as if it's even worth mentioning. What's next, plugging a console in is too much effort? Getting out of bed is too much effort?
@@wendigolover3479 Having tried kinect tracking, it really isn't compared to my vive trackers. You have to face one way, sure you can sit down but God forbid you wanna screw around with it and fall over or something, or have an even slightly large playspace. Also that number was pulled outta your ass.
@@syntheticant8172 The main thing is that it's cheaper. Not needing to put trackers on is nice, but with how inaccurate it can be, it's not recommended unless you can't afford proper trackers

They didn’t have the games to back it up. Nintendo Fucking kicked their ass when it comes to their library on their handheld systems
I remember begging my mom for a vita and then getting one with uncharted and killzone . It was the most amazing piece of technology I ever owned relative to the year it launched in , it’s a shame they made literally NO games for it . I could swear I would have enjoyed it today if they didn’t literally kill their own console
I used it everyday for about 4 years
That's exacly what I'm doing! Been using mine for over 9 years, still using it hacked haha! Sony killed it?
Nah.. we revived it.

I would buy those up in minute.
hehe
first thing on my mind was use of this ismell during porn :D

I felt way more excited to watch a movie when I went to the store with friends or family, had a DVD limit (due to being poor af), being able to see all the posters, newest games with in-person free trial, and getting the occasional microwave popcorn and candy at the check out counter
We used to go to the local equivalent after school a lot of the time, just spend ages browsing movies we knew we wouldn't get to see for a few years, plus because New Zealand was basically living in the past, for a while some stores were getting new release DVDs before the movies were even in our theaters! tbh iSmell has a chance with the new VR & AR uprising because I think smell would make it 10x more surreal

I wish I’d never learned about the iSmell because now it’s killing me that it didn’t take off, that idea sounds cool as hell
I know, right? I love the smells of scented candles burning but don't use them very often, partly because I worry a lot about fires. (I've just always been paranoid about them since I was little, idk why.) That would be the perfect solution, plus be cheaper and offer more variety.

I’m not sure what kind of technology you think it would be able to have but it’s impossible to just create any imaginable smell on earth from a little device like that. It would have a decent number of options hopefully but it wouldn’t be able to produce every possible smell, and replicating the smell of for example a bonfire most likely wouldn’t turn out to be quite as nice as a real bonfire

kinect games were awful.

Me and my cousin used to play with kinect and it was really fun but now that there is ps5 and vr all those things we don't really use it anymore
