Since the early Nineties, Reinhold Bogner's Ecstasy and Uberschall amps have played significant roles in modern guitar tone, having been heard on hundreds of influential recordings and seen on numerous concert stages.
Because Bogner amps were never inexpensive (these days an Ecstasy head sells for nearly $4,000), they're rarely seen outside of professional rigs or studios. Fortunately, in recent years, the company has developed new products that make its signature tones more accessible to the masses.
This year, the amp maker released a new line of pedals that provide many of the distinctive sounds and innovative features of Bogner amps in affordable stomp-box packages. The lineup currently consists of three pedals-the Ecstasy Blue, Ecstasy Red and high-gain Uberschall-that deliver a wide range of incredible tones, from vintage crunch to harmonically complex distortion.
You may not like his hair but he still has a better job than us.

Everything sounds good when Paul plays. I really enjoy that he can play that fast without resorting to sweeps and other standard metal techniques

I have the blue and use it through a peavey jsx and have to say it is the most amp like pedal I have ever used. It sounds fantastic and worth every dollar.

Great review/demo. The opening tone is a bit muddy but I think he had both pedals going at once for some reason. A Les Paul is a great guitar to demo gear with because everyone knows what they sound like. It gives a better representation of the gear being demoed. These pedals are great and a must have for someone looking to turn their single channel or dual channel amp into a 3 channel amp. This is one of the only pedals I've heard where they don't sound like a distortion pedal. They have the feel and tone of a true amp distortion. Def worth the $299 price tag.

Being a guitar player, my interest is what equipment will allow me to express myself in my most creative way. Paul is a very good player and offers valuable demo's to help me achieve my goal stated above. I really don't care how Paul decides to express himself with his hair and I don't care about his sexual orientation.
So as a preamp it Sounds better when plugged into a amp's power section?

Hello, I need a recommendation, I am undecided between this pedal (ecstasy blue) or the bb Preamp xotic, I am looking for something transparent that sounds defined, that sounds good in the clean channel and that also heats the tubes of my tube amp when I want to use the saturated channel . Apart from being versatile, what pedal would you advise me?

Liked some of the more blusier tones on the blue. But the Red! Much better response. I wish they'd show us what amp is being used. I've been fooled before Paul. Great demo.

Great sounding pedals - I really like the voicing/toggle options. A bit spendy, but I guess if you were going to use it all the time you could justify the cost. They both sound very warm to me. The guy's hair is definitely a distraction, but he plays well.

My only question is why wasnt the Uberschall pedal reviewed as well? The three pedals were released at the same time as flagships for Bogner's pedal line but all the attention was focused on two pedals with circuit designs from the same amplifier. I would have personally liked to have seen the Uberschall pedal not be excluded from this review.

Im really looking for something plexi sounding... classic ac dc, paul kossoff/free kind of thing. Im not sure how close the blue does it. Not interested in another "hot plexi" pedal either. Theyre getting to be a dime a dozen.
Marie K not the blue. Hot plexi and I mean hot like a jcm800 there’s the Suhr riot, Friedman be od, uh Bogner Lagrange maybe? Hmm I’m a pedal addict. Miab crunch box by MI audio, weehbo jvm very expensive, jhs Andy Timmons angry Charlie or any Angry Charlie. Start with these. If u use these two use them with a crunchy amp. Oh I have the original swirly painted rock box pedals. The baby blue is nice. The boiling point is less gain. The brown one is well brown sound. I forgot the Wampler plexi DELUXE. Very high gain. Dial it in correctly and it’s great.
Paul makes any pedal sound amazing! How do they pair with single coils; ala Stratocaster?

what's amp?
I owned an Ecstacy Blue pedal. Used it a few times and sold it on eBay. It was easily one of the most underwhelming pedals I've ever owned. Not enough gain to really be useful. I replaced it with a Teletronix Mulholland Drive. Now THAT is an overdrive pedal !
I'd rather buy a shit car and a Burger king meal than try to afford that overpriced pedal. What were you thinking...

I think I got a bad one. I went to guitar center and got another one that works perfectly as you would expect.I returned the first one and the replacement works great with just a little noise at hi gain and high volume

Oh and no clipping diodes. So your tone stays as dynamic as your playing.
nope, not true.. given that the transistors are clipping its the same effect, however the sonic characteristics of a Jfet circuit clipping is different to a Si or Ge diode.. but clipping of any nature (ie overdrive or distortion) by definition will reduce dynamics.

I find everything sounds the same and like $hit.. over compressed and fizzy. From amps to pedals. Sound guy needs to experiment with mic placement and recording phase. Brutal. These pedals sounded like fuzz pedals.

Über shall is medium gain KAREN. also if u read other posts on other demos others agree they r too abrasive for lead. Funny how I have at least 30 pedals and 4 amps and all of them sound great. For $300 it needs to sound ok to my ears not yours. Nobody asked u btw
