    Well the year is 2022, the world is saturated with amps, advanced digital modeling, IRs, plugins, pedals, and to my ears Bogner gear still sounds the most “alive”, most rich, and exciting to listen to and to play.

    Hey Glenn. U CAN dial it back. It's actually quite woody 2. These demos are quite challenging at times. Trying to show functionality, along with every tonal possibility is pretty much impossible. Especially in under 10mins. That said, It really comes down to what inspires you when you get your hands on it yourself. I would encourage people to explore them on their own. So glad you're enjoying these clips. Thanks for the encouragement. :) All the best. :))

    this is THE best OD pedal I ever bought. transparent, clear, heavy if wanted, super versatile. If you get bored with one tone, one flip of a switch ande your mid q moves , your gain changes and now in a whole different world that inspires a different style of playing that you didn't even know you had in you.

    Whoever created these pedals is a genius. I have the Bogner Blue pedal and its (along with my Ethos Overdrive) by far the best pedal I'v ever used. You can get so much usable sounds, the knobs really change the sound, the switches make it a different pedal all together. I'm really thinking of getting the Red pedal as well. The only thing that bothers me is that if I buy from Germany, the pedal is 300euro, if I buy from the USA, its 300dollar (230eur) and free shipping!!

    As far as the pedal goes, it sounds rich and full lots of gain in tap. As far as the demo goes, well done sir!! Great functional descriptions and spot on playing to demo the dialog. Thank you for the awesome work up. I'm sold and will be picking mine up this afternoon. Cheers.

    Hell yeah, this has to be one of the best drive pedals I've ever heard. First turned on to me by JD from The Sword and then Matt Pike(High on Fire, Sleep) and now Mr.Irwin Thomas. Well done man, flawless demo. Now I just need to get my hands on one..

    I tried this with a Fulltone Octafuzz into the Red (in 100b mode with gain at Noon). Sounded excellent! The Red takes pedals just like an amp, whether it's a boost/overdrive to push the front end harder or a fuzz. The FEEL of these pedals is insanely close to the real thing.

    I guess the Amp also make it sounds like that, right? Will it sound that great in solid state Behringer 50wtts amp? or a little tube 15wtts laney 12r? Or a big Marshall MG100dxf? What I wanna say is I love Fender Deluxe Reverb amps. Even chinasse pedals sounds terrific on it !

    • @InTheSh8
      @InTheSh8 7 років тому

      Since this pedal has full EQ - Section I'd connect it to the return of an amp to bypass the clean channel. That will give you a flatter response and only the voicing or character of your power amp will color the sound. Much more neutral. I actually want the Friedman BE OD but the Bogner convinces me more because of a full EQ and therefore more preamp qualities.
      To answer your question: If your power amp doesn't have enough resolution and headroom then this pedal won't help it to make you sound better. If you have a good power amp and a rather shitty or one trick pony preamp then the Bogner should really kick ass connected to the return.

    I Don't know what some people are having problems with - I've plugged this straight into a tube power amplifier, and found it to be the single best sound I've ever gotten. Just about any gain, any switch setting. It all sounds amazing, and responds better to dynamic playing than any other pedal I've played. I play p90's in the bridge, and strat-style single coils in the neck.

    I compared This pedal with the 5150 overdrive pedal and both kicked major ass. 5150 has much more top end sizzle but some may think too much. Also has more resonance but the Bogner Red does not lack balls at all just a different amp type thing. You can't go wrong with either pedal . Fucking awesome both pedals.

    Can you explain exactly what the VARIAC does? I know what a VARIAC from what Eddie Van Halen used, but this is interesting you actually put one in a distortion pedal (and yes I know this functions as more than a simple distortion-- more like amp channels). What I want to know are the specifics: how much AC does the VARIAC add/remove? How does this affect other circuitry in your chain? Do you put this in the chain the same place you would a distortion box?

    went to guitar center today to try out this pedal. Still wondering what I was doing wrong. This pedal sounded nothing like this demo video or any other for that matter. It seems any real person I talk to says this pedal is very lackluster, even the blue, and uberschall are not what they have been built up to be. I used a Gibson sg and a nice fender amp on a clean channel, and no matter how I turned the knobs on this pedal I was disappointed. the big deception?

      gtrman69777 I had the same question and met a guy that ownes both. He preferred the Bogner. More versatile, the friedman was more muffled and the gain was almost full on even when it was set low.

    • @marcstanford5857
      @marcstanford5857 7 років тому

      gtrman69777 I have both. They're very different. Yes the be od has a lot of gain so u lower it and adjust it to
      Ur taste. I like it. It has an internal switch inside to adjust gain as well. I can get high gain, medium or low Plexi type gain. Using it thru a Friedman smallbox the clean channel. Ch1 which is clean for me. The bogner I like it with some crunch behind it and the boost on but not real loud. Lots of options and toggle switches which I like. Variac switch. Try them from a store where they give u a return policy. Good luck.

    Doesn't mean he is playing into a distorted sound. Clean is still considered clean even with a bit of break up, get anymore break up, then you're on crunch. So what is wrong with finding out you gotta be pushing the power tubes a little to get a good sound from this pedal? If you want clean then turn off the pedal and roll the guitar volume back a bit. Just saying.

    not sure about this pedal.Played it into vintage plexi 50w, blackfaced bandmaster reverb and a 77 50w marshall master volume. It isnt very dynamic or as reactive to playing dynamics as having a good simple overdrive pedal like a xotic BB, King Of Tone.More distortion than those of course unless you use the ODs to boost the amps input which sounds way more natural than the bogner red.It does have a kind of focused sound but the lack of dynamics make it no fun to play.

      I can't comment since I never tried those. When I owned the Empress, I just couldn't believe the sound I was hearing was actually coming from a pedal, and not a high gain amp. It's that good!
