    This is the biggest problem with dealing with apologetics, and one I have run into in many posts... it takes the apologist 3 seconds to present a lie with confidence, then it takes 5+ minutes (or a freaking comments section essay) to go through and explain all the ways and how exactly we know that what the apologist presented was a lie. In the meantime, the apologist has presented 5 more lies on the topic and galloped through 4 more topics.

Either way, Paul's account further complicates the Resurrection legends.

    Fact two: Peter Parker was bitten by a magical spider.
    Fact three: Peter Parker got super spider powers
    Fact four: MJ is a eye witness that Peter Parker is Spider Man.
    Conclusion: it’s a “fact” that Peter Parker is Spider man.

    Either way, this was (in my opinion) a really impactful episode. I think it is important to emphasise repeatedly the DISHONESTY of these apologists who assert they know things that they do not know, and can not know (based on the currently available evidence), and in the case of someone as intelligent and educated as WLC, KNOWS that he does not and can not know what he claims to know. He is simply being dishonest to advance some other agenda (such as the conversion of people to his religion, or to decrease the probability that members of his religion will leave it).

    3:48 What can I say? The tomb was extremely busy that day. Congestion was crazy, but Jesus was smart and left early to beat the traffic!
    Also, based on your summary alone, the only order a harmoniser would use is B A C D. Sure raises a lot of questions though!

    • @pesilaratnayake162
      @pesilaratnayake162 7 місяців тому +3

      @@apropos4701 I think Mr Deity chose that order because it's our best guess of the order in which the gospels were written (some Christians disagree with the order).
      The order I suggested was the order in which the events outlined could have happened on the day of the resurrection, assuming that all the gospels are accurate. Harmonisers generally assume that all the events in all gospels happened (unless they take them as metaphor), so I think they could argue that the events of Matthew took place first, followed by the events of Mark, Luke and John. Although many just try to handwave the inconsistencies and say they all report the same event.

      @@misterdeity Because the Gospels are magic-packed narratives constituting the only evidence there is, the case would probably be thrown out and dismissed on summary judgement. Think about it. If you filed suit against somebody, and the brief you submitted to the court was full of magic flying bunnies and invisible Blue Pixies, do you think your case would be heard? That's the problem with the case for even the historicity of Jesus, just as a real rabbinical cult leader. When you take a narrative just loaded with supernatural events, that was expressly written for the purpose of generating and disseminating a magical belief system, then extracting all the magic stuff doesn't make the mundane parts likely to be true. The mundane parts were only written as a foundation for the magical stuff. The mundane parts are irretrievably tainted as coming from the pens of people who were either credulous or dishonest enough to write the magical stuff.
      The totality of the New Testament is tainted in this way, so not one word of it has any value as substantial evidence of anything. And the New Testament is the only evidence there is. The tiny handful of non-cult mentions of Jesus in the 1st century and a half CE were nothing but people reporting what Christians believed, even in the case of Josephus, which is suspected of being forged anyway. All these independent mentions are exceedingly brief; none of them give any biographical details of Jesus; and none of them have any plausible source but Christians professing their beliefs. So, there is literally no credible evidence for one fact about Jesus beyond the fact that we know that people named Jesus did exist in that historical period. Could there have been a Jesus that had enough correspondence with the mythical Jesus to say that "Jesus was a real guy"? Sure, but there is insufficient evidence to make a valid case establishing that.

    4. Fact, Livy recorded as a fact that Roman solders fought a dragon during these wars

      It's totally dishonest. Craig is totally aware that the mainstream of even Christian scholars do not think that the Gospels were credibly written by the disciples of Jesus or any other eyewitnesses. They are not even written in the first person, as any credible eyewitness account would be. He has a Ph.D. in religious philosophy, and no doubt has read all the Gospels multiple times. There is no way that he is not thoroughly knowledgeable about the gross discrepancies between the four books.
      He also knows that Paul was the only New Testament author writing in a time frame near to the putative death of Jesus. Paul was unambiguously clear about never having known Jesus in life, and his one experience of Jesus was explicitly a supernatural vision some years after Jesus' death, not an encounter with an actual flesh and blood person. Paul was explicit also about not deriving any knowledge of Jesus from the testimony of other witnesses, claiming to have all his knowledge from divine revelation and passages from the Old Testament that he interpreted as long-ago prophecies of Jesus. There is absolutely no doubt that Craig knows all this like the back of his hand.
