Funny how Katherine would pretty much fill the void left by Alexandra Moltke when the latter left the show. For all intents and purposes, Maggie replaced Vicky as the new heroine of Dark Shadows, even taking over her position as governess at Collinwood. Kind of ironic when considering that Maggie and Vicky first met in Episode 1 when Maggie was only a diner waitress and a supporting character.
In the Second Series, Curtis combined the two characters and I thought it made more sense that way. Besides, Joanna Going was just as beautiful as either Kathryn Leigh or Alexandra!
I liked it a lot but I do think it felt rushed. They left out so much because ot the limited time. And I'm angry that it was never "finished". Hey, at least there was no Bramwell Collins!

I'm determined to get The Hand Of Petofi storyline on DVD and I'll bail out after that because I think that's when Kathryn\Josette\Maggie left the show. I've heard stories about the Leviathans storyline. Is it really as bad as some have claimed? I'm hoping D.S. comes to MeTV!

Yes ABC-TV did not allow the budget for their soap operas to do retakes, do overs. Soap Operas were not considered important enough to have big budgets back then. So they were shot 'Live to Tape' One take only.
In the Kate Jackson interview , she said it was also about time. That it was not video tape where you could stop and start right away; that you had to wait for hours for “the feed” before you could start again
I don't know about other fans, but for me, once being reunited with Josette was no longer Barnabas' motivation, I felt the character lost his way and I lost interest in the show. Good thing, I've heard horrible stories about the Leviathans storyline!
