Thanks for sharing your video. Penang is a great place to visit and brings back fond memories for me. Enjoy a wonderful time in Penang and the rest of Malaysia.
You guys just got a new subscriber. ❤❤❤ all of your food and travel vlogs. You guys radiate such positive energy it made my day. Can't wait to see more. Love from Malaysia!
Brown pieces of meat you ate in White curry mee are squid/ cuttle fish. The others are cockles, dried bean curds. Excellent video of Penang. Thank you for sharing.
I really enjoyed watching your video and glad you love Malaysian foods. Just a piece of advise enjoying your nasi kandar...just mix all the gravies together with the rice...and eat with your hand... Heaven.... 🤭
The 1st item should be Pork Noodle (you can select any type of noodles and you had Kue Teow) and some of them can be super tasty depending on the broth and also the meats they add into it. You can actually ask for no inside organs too if you want to avoid those parts. The thing in Char Kue Teow you had there is sliced Fish Cakes and you can also mention if you don't want cockles "Ham". That's actually the other type of squid (brown and a bit hard) in the White Curry. I love all seafood I think, except those clam types like cockles. Glad you guys enjoys the food :D
I love your videos! I’ve been watching you since your travels to my motherland, the Philippines. I love how you are both open minded and willing to try different foods. That nasi kandar looks so delicious Omg I should not watch your food videos at midnight LOL. Come back to the PI for season 2 of Chase and Shelbs in the PI. 😊
We are so happy to hear that! Thank you! We love travel and experience so many new things so it’s been an amazing journey. We are thinking of coming back next year possibly! Not sure yet though! 🥰❤️
Haha CHASE away the seafood 😁 you would have trouble going to East Malaysia, especially in Sabah. That's where most of seafood are fresh. Anyway, it's always refreshing to have someone with different outlook that appreciate the culture of this country. Keep up the great vlog and wish you both grow stronger each day!
Been to the " Victoria" tower. I also took a photo of it. U tried Indian food, Been to The" Art Street" n the old " Pier" in the Chinese temple, not far from " Art Street".
Char kuay toew is all about the wok hei. That charred, smoky flavour. What you could not identify is called fish cake. It’s fish and some filler made into a rectangular shape.
I'm thinking whoa u guys eat pork liver which I'm not adventurous enough to take, but then ohhhh paté spread are made of liver too 🤣... I was at that first coffee shop few days ago in the morning for Loh Mee, which they are famous for.
As a local, I dislike cockles and the gelatinous pig's blood served together with white curry mee too. They used to add those two ingredients to increase the dietary intake of iron for the locals. I'll usually just ask to hold those two and go for only Tofu puffs and extra tofu puffs.
I didn’t know Penang has the best Falafel. Have to go try it. American UA-camrs Shannon X Aaron in their video “10 best places to eat in Penang” also said the Italian restaurant at Campbell house has the best Pizza they have ever eaten.
Nasi kandar - nasi = rice . Kandar = rest on shoulders. During the olden days this ppl carry the pots of rice and meat on a pole over their shoulder, to move around to sell their food. Thats where the name nasi kandar comes from. You are lucky you stop at lamb shank. 🤭 if you got that big squid or that big prawn.. 🤣
Soup looked so yummy I absolutely love pork [ must be tender and juicy. in my option ]. Agreed with Shelbs a little spicy. Sorry Chase. 3 hrs later. How can you guys skip All the delicious lamb and only get 2 lamb dishes?? Did they have beer / soda to wash it down with?? If not I would have left in a snap. Stop the press you call $$9.00 for lamb experience. NO WAY. For that $$ they would know my 1ST Name in days as long as beer / soda available. Lamb wins. Hands down. I have a feeling more lamb can be found, possibly even with cheaper $$$$ Outstanding from start to finish
Hahaha we are with you!! Lamb is starting to become our favourite and you are right it is cheap but for us living in Asia I guess it seemed expensive at the time but really it’s not at all! Hehe the food was all so good we couldn’t even contain ourselves. 😂🙊 glad you enjoyed it Drew! ❤️
So Chase isn't a fan of the cock..le...got it. 🤣 I love how a $14 meal for two ends up feeling like a "splurge" after living in SE Asia for so long. Can relate. Hahaha. I went to this same place when I was in Penang. So dang good! I had the cendol at the same place as well, but I wasn't a big fan of that particular version. I had better in other places. This series has really made me want to go back to Malaysia! 😫
Hahaha it’s actually crazy.. we head back to Canada in less than a year and are so scared to see the prices of things. Southeast Asia is another world and can be so cheap! 😍 we have had a few different cendols too and this was our fave, but everyones taste is different and that’s totally okay 🙏🏼 We hope you can go back! It’s truly an amazing country. 💕
Lol...thats not Bean Curd, its slices of Squid. Enjoying watching both experimenting the Malaysia's Food. Next time should try 'Beef Rendang' that is real Malaysia's food, its a must eat food in special occasion only. 'Teh Ta-rik' direct translate 'Pulling Tea' (with condensed Milk), i recommend you try 'Teh Tarik Ha-lia' translate to...'Pulling Ginger Tea' (with condensed Milk), its a mild spicy sweet but its good for overall health, kind of detoxing tea.
Oh thank you we couldn’t figure out what it was haha! We have tried bed rendang in our nasi lemak video and it’s incredible 😍 chase is addicted to the Tarik! It’s so tasty 🙏🏼 happy you enjoyed the video! xx cheers!
Do keep in mind the local flat white rice noodles is mixed with Sago powder, unavailable in the country of origin. Still unaware it's rude to leave chopsticks in the food? Blood cockles are going extinct here.
Don't throw the whole small chili into it😅, you suppose to serve it as your own needs accordingly. Some people can take more spice and some will just enjoy not too much.

Thank you 😍♥️
The brown-ish thing that you had at 11:30 is cuttlefish, 1 of the key ingredients in Penang White Curry Mee.
Ohh thank you!!
I really enjoyed watching your video and glad you love Malaysian foods. Just a piece of advise enjoying your nasi kandar...just mix all the gravies together with the rice...and eat with your hand... Heaven.... 🤭

It’s a match made in heaven! 🤩
Glad you guys are loving the foods..
P/S : cant get over that beautiful blue eyesss sooo beautiful
We are obsessed! Total foodies hehe! Aw you are so sweet xx thank you 🥰
Yes cendol is good. Palm sugar is the winner. I hv never tried halo halo or vietnamese dessert but is confident cendol top it.
Cendol is the winner. You didn’t hear it from us 🤫😂
Enjoy watching. Great video!
Try Teh Tarik drink and also Kopi O or Barley drink or ice lemot tea...

I'm just giggling because I love the food in Malaysia the bite and flavour there are just too many surprises 😆❤
Next trip can try bee hwa cafe at lebuh dickens and kheng pin cafe for Lor mee yummy yummy
Looks amazing, great work!

Hameediyah..do not take lamb shank or squid or large prawn..it is expensive.
It was so pricy!!
@@ChaseandShelbs Even we locals complain about the price XD
Cekik darah we called it... Maybe they get sotong from japan, lamb from saudi dan prawn from maldives..
they're not that expensive, just you're broke.. haha
just take the lamb shank or squid and nothing else, just that 😁

Char kuay toew is all about the wok hei. That charred, smoky flavour. What you could not identify is called fish cake. It’s fish and some filler made into a rectangular shape.
Yes we love the wok hei! It’s so important! Without it the noodles aren’t as good lol!

I love all your videos ❤. But waiting patiently for the new thai videos. 😊 Stay healty you two. Greetings from germany Sukanya 🥰
They are a bit behind, hang in there! ☺️💕 stay safe and healthy too! xx
Come try the pak mat western lamb chop its so popular in penang..everyone knows
YUM! Sounds incredible 😍
Penang's egg tart is good too.
Ohhh we will have to try that some day!
For me. Malaysian food is the best food in Asia. So many food you can get in Malaysia..
It’s incredible! 😍
Kway teow teng , teng means soup in hokkien dialect.
thanks guys + enjoy in this amazing country
Usually we dipped the pork meat lightly with soya source to enhance the taste otherwise the meat may be a bit dry
Sounds good! We will have to try that!!
Awwww... missed being in the same place at the same time as you guys by five weeks! Come back in January? 😁😁🤣🤣
Hahaha oh no!! We will be somewhere else in jan sadly 💕
@@ChaseandShelbs yeah, I figured... 🙁
I really like your videos. Have a nice trip. I hope you will comback to Viet Nam to make lots of videos.
Aw thank you! So glad you enjoyed, we plan to go back to Vietnam next year!
That is not chicken in fish cake and chive not spring onion. Super delicious 👍
Hello dear friends😊 I am so loving this video❤🙂👍 from the Philippines
So glad friend! Hope you are well 🥰
@@ChaseandShelbs I am well. Thank you friends. Take care guys always. 😊🙂👍
What Shelbs like with nasi kandar is prolly mutton kurma.. a variation slightly less spicy than curry.
Yes that was it!! It’s my fave Indian dish now 😍🙏🏼
Thats not beancurd.. its cuttle fish slices; great food discovery Chase and Shelbs, try the mee goreng sotong
Oh thank you!!
at 11.30 min, I don't think that is bean curd but Sotong (Squid).
☺️ cuttlefish I think we were told!
@@ChaseandShelbs I am curious why there is an exclamation mark after that sentence. but oook :)

Not sure why I’m watching your videos haha. I’m local!!! Great videos btw.
We hope because you like them!! 🙏🏼 so glad you enjoy. Penang is such a great town, your lucky you live in foodie heaven hehe! 🥰
welcome to penang 😊
How do you enjoy food if you do not like seafood flavour? Many noodle dish in malaysia has seafood flavour in it.
Usually chase doesn’t enjoy the seafood ones as much! There is tons of food without it ☺️
Wao...You blow me up ..Most Western don't eat liver .... Even me don't eat ..👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
We try to make sure to be open minded and try everything (though we don’t really like liver) 😂

Why not go to sabah.. so much tourism place and beutifull iland.
Never thought of it, next time maybe ☺️
Kuala Lumpur is the food capital, not Penang, at least to me. Having said that, Penang does have a lot to offer.
Kuala Lumpur’s food choices and quality are definitely beyond compare in Malaysia.
That’s totally fair for you to like KL food better! It’s still amazing but to us.. our hearts are with penang cuisine! 😍
