That's not a jackfruit but deep fried Chempedak. Jackfruit in Malay is call Nangka. Jackfruit is bigger in size compare to Chempedak in terms of the fruit itself and also the size of the pulps inside the fruit. We have both here in Malaysia and you can try both just to see the difference between them😷😁😷
Oh wow thank you!! We have never had chempedak but it’s super delicious! ☺️
Nikkey Nikx That is true. Jackfruit or nangka usually we eat fresh, not fry. Only cempedak is eaten fresh or fry.
tbf chempedak is of the same family to the jackfruit. just a diff variation. like the bananas here. theres loads of types of bananas.
The deep fried one (with fried banana 🍌) is what we called Cempedak.
And the raw one you ate (at 17:47 ) that's Nangka
Did you also know that we can actually eat the Chempedak Seed? It's nice ! ☺😋
This is absolutely one of my favourite night markets to visit when we're in KL. There's a huge variety of food and the atmosphere is great!! Greetings from Singapore!
It’s it great!! It has such a variety. I think it’s our fave one we’ve ever been too! 😍🤫
Chase's laughing is really contagious, every time i heard i feel so happy, he has got a Child in him😊 enjoy watching u guys reallly.. Hope u love Msia
It’s quite jolly isn’t it!? 😂 I’m a big fan too 💕 we are happy you enjoy watching. Lots more fun adventures to come 🙏🏼
15:12 Cham is a contraction of CAMPUR (Pronounced CHARM POUR) which literally means 'mix' or 'add' depending on the context. In the case of the drink you had, it IS coffee and tea mixed. A very unique but delightful flavour. Taken chilled it's a lifesaver on a hot day.
Every country you guys visit should pay you.💰 You’re 10 times more effective in promoting tourism than the best tourism advertising I’ve ever seen 😅
AWW! Thank you!! You are too sweet. 💕We are just doing what we do best! Exploring and eating but who wouldn’t want to get paid from that! 😂👏🏼
To fully appreciate the diversity of Malaysia, do visit Brickfields.. it’s a little piece of India right here in Kuala Lumpur
Yes mimi.. we are also find brick fields amazing
The fried jack fruit you eat and the fresh jack fruit you buy are two different fruits. The fried jack fruit you eat in Malaysia we call "Cempedak" while the fresh jackfruit you buy we call "Nangka". If you use the translation application, both are translated Jackfruit. Malaysia does not fried "Nangka", only fried "Cempedak".
That’s super cool to know! It tasted almost exactly like regular jackfruit! It was so delicious 😊
It's been 4 years since I've been here .... seems the food variety has greatly increased. Time to hit the crunch-squishy-jiggly flavour trail again!
It was endless! We found the hardly believe it. Yes you will have to haha 🤭💕
@@ChaseandShelbs Diet train, leave me be!
This is gonna be my new favourite vlog. I like to watch your video again and again. Lots of Love💕
thnks for trying our street food and i love your content..keep it up guys😁😁🥰🥰
Cham is a drink with a mix of coffee and tea with condensed milk , it is the perfect balance for those who like tea and coffee ,so that you won't need to buy 2 cup of drinks to enjoy it , just order CHAM anywhere in Malaysia.
We love it!! What a perfect combo 😍
*WELCOME TO MALAYSIA TRULY ASIA GOOD FOODS ENJOYED*

'Cham' means 'Mix' ...its a 2 in 1 mix (Coffee & Tea in milk). It's a uniquely found in Malaysia only. Peanuts pancakes, steamed meat packed 'Siew Mai' & Jack fruits....my favs! i'm going out to buy Peanut pancakes now....see ya! Lol...
I feel like we hit the jackpot at this market hha! Hope your peanut pancakes were delish 😂😍
Thanks for sharing
I love ❤️ Malaysia so adventure. green and healthy foods 👏👍. My country Singapore nothing adventure only condominiums 😔😞
Love it 😍 need to check it out 😊❤️
Tourist always go to Jalan Alor for night market /street food but for me the best night market is the one like this is mostly once a week at certain place plus cheaper . The one near KL city is Night Market at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) , only happened on Saturday from 5Pm to midnight.
Yes we went to Jalan alor and it didn’t compare to this one! We will have to check out the one you recommended one day. ☺️
I love your food videos. I am so glad you are both open to trying different things. Fishy lol
Aww thanks! We love trying all foods regardless of if we don’t like the ingredient! Who knows it may surprise us haha! ☺️
So clean and well arranged, greetings from Butterworth, P. Pinang Dubai
Glad that you guys went to this night market. There is so much thing to see and tasty food all over the place 😄😄
Yess it was mind blowing 😂😍 we couldn’t miss it!!
We love Malaysia
Very goood timing!! Im eating right now while watching. Guess Im joining you guys eating😅
That’s perfect so you won’t get hungry while watching! 😂🙏🏼
The second pan cake is real ampang balik.
Night market nice and yummy food banana and jack fruit look delicious ❤❤❤❤
It was unbelievable😍
What you guys ate was Asam Laksa, Asam is actually a type of cooking ingredient found throughout southeeast asia, that was what made the broth sour
Hopefully you guys have a great time and enjoy the country! We are in Kuala Lumpur, living here.
And love here. Still around guys ?
Thank you! It’s been beyond incredible. Sadly no we aren’t in KL anymore. But happy for you guys that you get to live there, we stayed for 2 months and really enjoyed it!! ☺️🙏🏼
19:00 what a nice sunset! 😳
The earlier deep fried fritters you had, that's a smaller-sized cousin of jackfruit, in malay the fruit is called *cempedak* (churm-per-duck), whereas in the later part, the big fruit on the table was jackfruit, in malay it's *nangka* (nung-ker). We do not deep fry jackfruit in batter, we simply eat them raw like that once it is ripe, or malays would make *bubur* (sweet porridge) as a dessert.
*Cempedak goreng* is the best, yummiest deep fried fritter (also costs more), followed by *pisang cheese* (deep fried bananas in batter like you had, but topped/smothered with grated cheese and condensed milk) 😋
We were so confused! I could have swore it was jackfruit but I’m glad they are similar so I wasn’t totally off lol. We are obsessed with both but now especially with the fried cempedek. Maybe next time we will have to try the Pisang cheese. That sounds too good!!! 🤩
@@ChaseandShelbs yeah you got it half right, because a *cempedak* fruit is about half the size of a regular jackfruit like the one you saw later on the table 😬 Cempedak flesh has that texture of cheese on a pizza when you're pulling away a slice, unlike jackfruit which has a soft but solid rubbery texture. But sweetness, jackfruit is maybe 3/10 whereas cempedak is 8-9/10 especially the slightly more expensive *cempedak madu* (madu = honey)
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video n for showing your explorations at a night market in KL. Hope u guys have had d fun.
Just a little info, d fritters that tasted like jackfruit is actually another similar fruit calls cempedak, but I don't remember d English name for it.
And u guys found d fresh jackfruit too.
Absolutely! We had an absolute blast and I’m glad we could take you around with us. We are now big fans of the cempedek and jackfruit 😍
@@ChaseandShelbs Glad that u guys had a lovely time with what d locals has to offer. 😁
@@ChaseandShelbs And don't forget to try other delicious n tasty local fruits like mango, pineapple, starfruit, papaya, melon, dragon fruit etc 😁
Beautiful night market. Lots of food. I wish I could be there now. All your food your try I love except for the peanut pancake which I am allergic to peanut, unfortunately. Anyway thanks for sharing and hope to watch your next vlog soon. Enjoy yourselves in KL. Stay safe and take care. Cheers!
Yeah you shld not take satay sauce , apam balik as they have peanuts. Nasi lemak has peanuts but you can tell them not to put it.
It really was! The beautiful sunset paired with the endless amounts of food was incredible! One of our faves I think ☺️ sorry to hear you are allergic to peanuts.. good thing there is so much other tasty food in this world 😍 thanks so much, stay safe and healthy too friend! xx
So many food to choose
After trying every food, you must say it's mantap pak hang
shelb's blue eyes always fascinate me
this is the best pasar malam
Very interesting.
you should try malay desserts and kuih (cakes) next!
next pls review malay night market food…i promised u guys will be amazed
So yummy fried banana. Absolutely loved Shelbs reaction after trying the extra cheesy corn. big pieces of pork on a stick yummy. Thought I saw squid. Love fish. Pork dumpling count me in all day long. Chase never had a potato stick. So yummy from start to finish. Any plans on going to my absolute favorite place Tokyo??
We were so blown away by the food.. especially the cheesy corn.. next level good. 😂👏🏼 we have no plans as of yet but it would be very cool to see Tokyo 😍
Selamat datang ke Malaysia semoga anda bahagia
T
Nice
welcome to malaysia
Jackfruit have many varieties like mango and durian. Different textures and sweetness
Cham is a tea+coffee in a cup. with milk too.
Welcome to Malaysia must visit genting highlands
The corn with milk & cheese was awesome to eat.. 😊😊😊
It’s our new fave street food 😍
Yeay you guys made it at chinese night market! Next, malay night market😉
It was so great!! Check out our China town video! We ate mostly Malaysian food in that one 😍
@@ChaseandShelbs Petaling Street food is Malaysian Chinese food. yy yeo is suggesting to try Malaysian Malay food 😅. We have different Malaysian cuisines made up of Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisines which have different flavor profiles. There are many other foods/cuisines which are born from a mix of cultures as well, for example Nyonya cuisine - a mix of Malay and Chinese. Hope you guys are enjoying yourselves trying out the different foods here 😊
Super yummy!!! 😋😋😋 have a nice day guys🙂🙂🙂
It was a very delicious evening! Thanks friend 😃
@@ChaseandShelbs u welcome ...🙂🙂 Shelbs face look like Amanda Bynes😁😁😁
Cham is a coffee mix with tea. That drink is a Malaysian drink. In pasar malam there a lot of fancy food, like the corn with cheese. The dragon fruit flavour is also considered as fancy food with design.
For the fried banana you can take with maggi chili sauce or the KFC sauce....
Hello dear friends 😊I love this one❤️ from the Philippines😊
We love to hear that! 🥰
This market looks amazing! Thks for sharing. I want to bring my 3 kids…Do you remember how you got there? Was this your fav market in KL or did u like another that’s closer to KLCC?
again shelbs is good, shes spot on. the 'cham' drink literally means MIX. its tea+coffee
It’s so good!! 😍
Tq for promoting my country into the next level. Adios
♥️
cham (means mix) is a combination of coffee and red tea. which is famous in hokkien chinese community. It is the same thing like Yuenyeung drink from hongkong which is also tea mix coffee
Cempedak and Nangka both are almost similar and they are both jackfruit siblings. Both can be eaten raw and both are sweet. Nangka like what you had raw is crunchier. Cempedak like what you had fried is softer and more fibrous. How did you keep your face so clean in such a hot place when Chase's face is getting more oily as the video progressed? Love your videos btw.
True I cannot tell the difference
Oh good to know! They seem so much alike. Trust me I was sweating.. maybe I hid it well 😂 it was very hot out!
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Sending love right back 🙏🏼
About fish, maybe you can try ikan bakar (grill fish). Get the pari which is stingray. Will blow your mind.
I’d totally be up for that 😊
Anything on a stick here is fantastic lol
So true 😂
man you guys making me hungry lol, traveling for work all i eat is instant noodles 😂😅
We enjoy the food aspect of travelling ALOT 😍😂
Jackfruit seeds can be eaten, by boiling. when eating peel the skin and eat the contents. it tastes like boiled peanuts.
Do go to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman night market
ดีใจต่างชาติมาเที่ยวไทย
cham mean tea mix with coffee
That drink is spelled 'cham' means mix, it's coffee + tea. All coffee and tea drink is sweet, but you can ask for less sweet or no sugar.
You’re right, Cham is mix with coffee and tea. You guys should probably go genting highland!!
It’s so good! 👏🏼 & we would love to go some day 😍
The cham girl looks so friendly and adorable haha
She was the best!! 🥹💞
Champ is Cantonese means mixture drinks flavors. 👏👏✌️✌️
Bro...Thank you for visiting Malaysia hope you guys have fun and experience different food in Malaysia , oh ...Don't forget ... Durian..🤗🤗❤️❤️
Thank you! We love learning more about it the foods and drinks we are eating 💕
Bro...Are you guys still in Malaysia..If yes , visit Ampang kuala Lumpur try ( traditional variety Stuffed tofu )
It serve with special fish meat mix with pork .👍👏
Just all it malaysia
❤️🤤
You are already like a local
charm means mix ( coffee plus tea )
The drink is tea and coffee called char.
We Malaysian LOVE our condensed milk..
We see that!! 😂😍 we love it too!
Cam is tea plus coffee
There are two version for apam balik...the thin one crispy and the thick one
Ahh that makes sense! They were both so similar :)
Cham means mix. So yes, coffee and tea mixture. 😁
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Hope to see you guys in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
💝
Some day maybe 😍
Hello 🤗👋 good night 🌃
Hi hiii 🥰
5:27 hi amoi sebelah :)
Cham is coffee and tea mix
Fun Fact: It tastes like Bubble Gum cause the Classic Juicy Fruit Gum is Jack Fruit flavored.
👍
👍💕👍💕👍💕👍
lol, Asam Laksa is indeed one of the unique and favourites of mine and its something I think back that you guys (especially chase) should not try hahaha.
It is fishy plus its usually comes with prawn paste 'Har Gou" by default so Shelbs I'm not sure which are the one that you don't like hahahaa.
Usually there's people that doesn't like prawn paste and they can ask for those not to be added.
That is not the real mooncake, its just jellies in mooncake shape haha. You guys should try the real mooncake (based inide with lotus paste) but its a festive item so might be hard to find now. Anyway, I never had that jelly, its probably just a new items created haha.
Yes, "cham" is actually coffee + tea. Its actually a chinese (cantonese) word which means "mix"
Yes you are right, 1st one Its not apam balik... I think its a variety of Kuih Kapit/Love Letters that is flat, crispy, light and eggy. Apam Balik has a thicker base in the middle and very nutty and sweet.
Yeah it was a veryyyyy strong flavour but I was determined to try.. not a fan 😂 The moon cake too underwhelming so that’s too bad we didn’t get the real deal! We will have to look out for it some day.. thanks for letting us know about the different foods! We will be experts in no time on the diverse cuisine 🤩🤭
Pudding jelly fruit but not real ... Some no need to try ,see you will know...👏✌️ Follow your instinct..🤗🤗🤗🤗😂😂😂
Cham is a short for the word ‘Campur’ which means mixed. so yeah, the drink you had was a mix of Coffee + Tea 😅
Ohh perfect thanks for letting us know! 😊 It was so different and delicious!
Interesting but in chinese (prolly cantonese or hokkien), "cham 掺" means mix. So "Cham Peng" is a combination of iced tea+coffee.
@@kkkochi I stand corrected.. yea, since Cham Coffee or Cham Tea is usually found at Chinese stalls in Malaysia, I do feel they use the chinese word instead. 👍🏼
@@kkkochi “Cham” is Hokkien. i thought in Cantonese is “zhap”?
T
Welcome!!
Gladly you like our night market food!
This is the longest night market in malaysia, at least that's what i know XD
We are obsessed.. especially with the cheesy corn 😂
just a slight correction, when you're eating Chinese food in Malaysia, most of the time that Chinese food would be Malaysian food as well. As for your use of "Malaysian food" scattered throughout the vid, most would understand that you mean Malay food, food of the muslim majority ethnicity of West Malaysia. A reason for the need for accuracy here is that when you say Malaysian food as food of the Malays, it obscures the ethnic Malay food and culture; and at the same time implies that Chinese Malaysian or Indian Malaysian or any other minority ethnicities in Malaysia as less/not Malaysian, when those cultures and food has been present in these lands for decades and centuries. Otherwise, good vid! Love Connaught market and all the street food there
thank you so much! You are absolutely right in the fact that is what we meant and we appreciate you letting us know that respectfully! 🙏🏼 this market was food! One of the best ones we have ever been to. Glad you enjoyed 🥰
You guys should tried regular pasar malam, this pasar malam only consist of chinese food only
Chempedak is not jack fruit but similar.
At the back of you is a spring rolls raw and is called a popiah.
They might have all these fancy street foods, but we got Tim Hortons ya"ll 🤣
The market is on wed only
i would like you to put these videos on your food and travel facebook page just like your youtube i want to follow you more
