Yeah it’s not quite full pcvr but does show some possibilities. I guess the creator of Gran Turismo said that it will be coming to pc in the future but they haven’t started to work on that yet. Maybe they will bring support on pc as well. If they do I imagine that they will try and make it only work with they’re games for full psvr games
If Sony made the PS5 work like a steam machine was intended to and allowed PCVR, then I can see me abandoning Steam in favor of some sort of Sony alternative.
Can the PSVR2 work as a stereoscopic display like this (i.e. able to properly display 3D movies, games, etc.) or is it basically just emulating a large 2D display?
Tyriel Wood could you please try watching 3D Blu-ray on PSVR2 on PC? I would buy PSVR2 just for that - bigger than projector screen and with full brightness 3D.
PSVR2 might not be able to used as an alternative VR headset for PC for now (unless Sony would release a Windows driver), but it's a good thing this can be used as an ordinary head mounted display, just like Sony's previous HMDs (including the ones having 3D support). I might try to find a RTX2080 with a USB-C port thanks to this video.
Or you could just get a 7900XTX since that is a faster card for around the same money. Also DLSS and FSR are close enough these days that it doesn't matter.
Is this not grossly misleading? It's working as a head mounted monitor, not a full VR headset right? Thus the product that is sold as a VR headset is categorical not-working for it's primary purpose.
The ps4/5 controller is the most used on pc , with realy good support in steam and. Windows now if sony want to dominate the vr head space they need to market this for both ps5 and pc
Hate to break it to the hopefuls in the PC community but this doesn't really mean anything.....the PSVR2 is designed to act as a display....its how the headset does cinema mode for PS games. The issue is getting the PC to recognize the headset as a VR headset and not just a display. Right now all you got is a 550 dollar 1080p OLED monitor. Pretty sure that by the time PSVR2 is actually usable for VR games the PSVR3 will be out.
If SONY was smart with the PSVR2, they should make to PSVR2 work with PCVR gaming. Even if it's just an exclusive deal through the STEAM platform. That would open up SONY to a whole completely new PC market. In doing so, I believe they wouldn't be able to keep up with the production demand for the PSVR2 to that point. Also I would definitely buy a PSVR2 myself. Lol
It’s because they are smart that it’s not on PC at least for now. They can sell it to PS5 owner at cost and know they can recoup the cost with software sale being tied to their platform.
My main question now is, considering most people don't want to downgrade their GPU, would this work with a thunderbolt add-in card? Thunderbolt does display and data which standard USB-C does not. So would that work too? Or is your own option literally to have a GPU with a virtuallink connector? Reason I'm asking this is for a few reasons. As mentioned most people don't want to downgrade theor GPU if they have something newer than the 20 series. If you are for example running a 4070, you don't want to go back. And for people in Europe, like me, you also don't want to downgrade because of power consumption. The 40 series isn't the most amazing when it comes to performance, but the efficiency is excellent and that's really cool for people living in countries wehre power is pretty expensive compared to other parts of the world. So there should be a way to make this work other than the virtuallink connector on supported GPUs, right?
I have a Quest 2 linked to a pc currently. I already had a decent PC so my reasoning for getting the Quest 2 initially was because I get access to both portable and wireless PCVR, at the cost of not having a better dedicated PC headset. I don't have a PS5 and couldn't justify getting both just for PSVR2, but I certainly could justify getting one as an upgrade to my PCVR display with the view of picking a ps5 up at a later date. The quest 2 works fine, but the display definitely feels dated by todays standards. Currently I'm holding out to see how the Quest 3 compares to the Pro and Pico 4 before considering an upgrade, but if the PSVR2 does get proper PC compatibility it could be a strong contender. Although I would have to get used to it not being wireless, I don't think it would be the end of the world for me lol. As for if it'll ever get official PCVR support from Sony... I doubt it. They have a closed ecosystem and will want to cling onto that. However, given a bit more time someone else might, like iVRy.
Bit of clickbait... When people see the thumbnail or title they think that steam vr games work, when in reality its just projecting your screen to the displays...
I have GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GAMING X TRIO and I also have native thunderbolt 3. Anybody knows how to connect PlayStation VR 2 with 120Hz to pc on that setting? The 3000 cards dont have USB C
NOT - VR, this is Cinema Mode, glorified monitor that can only run at 1080p right now. Some folks are working on this but it is nowhere near able to display stereo content or 6DOF tracking/controllers/etc.
@@jacobcook245 Not with a PS5, there was a company (DAZ maybe) that wanted to convert their PSVR1 3D video player to work on PS5 but has not got approval from Sony. Only possible option looks like it may be with the ivry driver if they are successful making PCVR/steam VR work with PSVR2. If not I’m betting that ps5 never gets a 3D video player
Sony should just fully support PS VR2 on PC as they would get a lot more sales. I don’t believe it would hurt sales for people who have a PS5 either. This would be excellent for VR as a whole and I would then buy one for sure as I have a PS5 and PC
PSVR2 is dope... you should get it for your PS5 ....if Sony would like to cross platforms to PC, that would be cool for them, but I doubt they will do that
@@blastu2fool I also have both. And see value in PSVR2 but I don't play my PS5 much so dropping $550 makes little sense to me and I'd rather get fully functioning VR on my PC. However if PSVR2 worked fully with PC then I'd fer better value for my $550 and buy it to use on both platforms. I imagine this would be the case for most people. Now PS5 only VR users market will not be affected. Sony would gain a PC only VR users market who in turn might end up with PS5 and PS5 games if they like the headset enough. Also gain more VR game sales from those who own both PC and PS5 who typically would be gravitating to PC for their VR experience. The way I see it Sony is just leaving money on the table by not supporting PC VR with it's headsets.
Would love this on my steamdeck. I hope this gives us the knowledge to make some software to take any usb-c display and make it display over virtuallink
This isn't news. We've known it worked with USB-C video since before launch. You might be able to achieve similar results with a PCIE USBC card that supports video injection.
@@JadonTheEternal the thing is those who want to play PC VR are not buying PS5s for VR anyway. So really they would gain a whole market of VR users. Those who rather play on console are not building an expensive PC for VR they will continue to buy PS5. That group will largely be unaffected.
@@JadonTheEternal i highly doubt that PSVR2 alone would be a breaking point for someone to buy PS5. They officially support ps5 controllers on PC now (and even have a guide for that) so why not?
@PixelHir I don't know, I think it very well could for some people. To get a VR set up of this quality you have 2 choices: spend around $1500 on a PS5 and PSVR2 (plus games) or, in order to get a PC VR setup with similar performance (from the testing I've seen) you'd want to aim for a PC with at least a 3070, i9, etc plus the headset with would run at least double that of the PS5 setup assuming MSRP (this is all CAD because that's the prices I know) So if you're someone with no existing setup and you want to get into good VR the PS5 route is significantly cheaper. Now I also say this as someone with both a high end PC and PS5 so it's not a bias thing. Of course you can just go get a Quest, but it's just not the same quality so that's a personal preference. I'm also not saying Sony wouldn't sell extra PSVR headsets either, but I'm not sure if it would offset the other products (the game sales moreso than the consoles) unless they created their own PC store and stuff, but so far it feels clear that Sony doesn't have interest in that. Personally, I'd love to see PSVR work with PC, it would significantly broaden my game library, I'm just not hopeful for it to be a first party solution
The adapter is cheaper than buying a whole 20 series card though. I would say definitely not worth it though until we get at least 6DOF support with controllers.
If the PSVR2 can do PCVR eventually, it would go much farther in dominating the VR space/markets. I would never consider a PSVR2 for myself but now.....if it could PCVR as well...that'd change things greatly.
do you try connecting psvr2 to 2080ti c port or maybe you try thunderbolt10gbps too? is it required to have usb-c port on GPU or thunderbolt should be enough?
It also works with Display Port over USB-C with an adapter that includes USB-A for data and Power Delivery input of 12V similar to the Bizlink VirtualLink Interface Adapter VR KSC001H with power cord
There’s a big jump between this 3dof tracking via gyroscope position, and real 6dof head-tracking utilizing the 4 cameras. The maker of the best PSVR for PC software iVRy said best case scenario this will take him years to implement and highly possible it won’t work at all, so don’t get too excited yet. I would love for it to work - then it’s one headset for all high-end VR content.

if Sony want to they can sell this VR as PCVR Compatible BUT it has better experiences and compaibility with PS5 this can easly swoop WMRBased VR,Meta and HTC VRs in the selling point
even without the controllers
The problem is people are lazy and don’t do any real research. I'm glad someone actually plug-in the PSVR 2 into a PC and actually check.
Whoaaaa! Thank you for sharing this with us Tyriel! Super cool!
That's cap. It was rumored to be coming to PC. However, the creator of GT specifically said it will not be coming to PC.
Their.
NOT they're.
@@shamarneedham1990 well doesn’t matter what you believe but would only make sense to do so since it only helps sales

If Sony made the PS5 work like a steam machine was intended to and allowed PCVR, then I can see me abandoning Steam in favor of some sort of Sony alternative.
Sweet! Thanks for this. My PSVR2 is on a FedEx truck headed to my house now! I took the day off of work 🤷♂️
Nice video, Good to know
May I ask what type of a headset is that?
i tried it with my pc high end with rtx 3090 not working at all !!!
i tried it with usb c type c 3.2 and no accessory ..and still not working
Can the PSVR2 work as a stereoscopic display like this (i.e. able to properly display 3D movies, games, etc.) or is it basically just emulating a large 2D display?
I use playstation 4 with the PSVR 3 Psvr 3 work in pc?
which gpu did you use in this video? can you see 3d-videos with it?
Of course will working on my one x player ❤❤❤
Tyriel Wood could you please try watching 3D Blu-ray on PSVR2 on PC? I would buy PSVR2 just for that - bigger than projector screen and with full brightness 3D.
There is no SBS tho, how can I try it?
@@Tyrielwood try helix mod
This would be awesome I have a ton of 3D movies matter of fact I will pop one in my PS5 and see what happens
@@Tyrielwood I think you can download a 3D movie even and play it in a player that supports SBS 3D and see if it works.
Would 3D Blu rays work? I know ps5 doesn’t support it yet, but I Pc blue rays or side by side 3D video content would just work. Neat find
question...would it work on a 4080 over a mainboard usb-c?
Thus the product that is sold as a VR headset is categorical not-working for it's primary purpose.
can you play vr games on pc with the psvr2
So I can’t play things like vrchat in vr if i connect my psvr2 to my pc, right? Just wanted to get that clearer
@@benozkleenex that's a great point, and males total sense
So there should be a way to make this work other than the virtuallink connector on supported GPUs, right?
but the big question does it work with steam vr?
Works! 2080 Super. Great find, Ty!
For me I have a Windows 11 and I cannot find the virtual link port on my pc. Where is the port on the Windows 11 pc?
Does psvr2 work with steam deck directly
@Tyrielwood do you need that grafixcard?
Since it's about the same cost as an Meta Quest 3 that's good news since I only have buy 1.
can i use 2 head sets on one ps4 or pc for movie watching
That's great, thanks for delivering some positive news to my morning feed!
Positive news are great with coffee;)
could that work on my Asus FA17 FA707RR-HX018W (R7 6800H+RTX3070) Laptop, which has 1x USB-C 3.0+DisplayPort 1.2 (5Gb/s)?
Wow I didn't think it would work. Awesome
Bit of clickbait... When people see the thumbnail or title they think that steam vr games work, when in reality its just projecting your screen to the displays...
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing :)
🤗
We need the other way around...... pc vr headset support on the ps5, so we can use the varjo aero or quest pro with GT7.....
thats never going to happen with sony watching
guys, on my 4090 suprim x, there is no USB C
I still have a RTX 2080 😍 Really hope it would work. Are the specs better than the Index?
I have GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GAMING X TRIO and I also have native thunderbolt 3. Anybody knows how to connect PlayStation VR 2 with 120Hz to pc on that setting? The 3000 cards dont have USB C
NOT - VR, this is Cinema Mode, glorified monitor that can only run at 1080p right now. Some folks are working on this but it is nowhere near able to display stereo content or 6DOF tracking/controllers/etc.
Is anyone working on 3D video support?
@@jacobcook245 Not with a PS5, there was a company (DAZ maybe) that wanted to convert their PSVR1 3D video player to work on PS5 but has not got approval from Sony. Only possible option looks like it may be with the ivry driver if they are successful making PCVR/steam VR work with PSVR2. If not I’m betting that ps5 never gets a 3D video player
@@bryanb2541 I mean using the PS VR2 to watch 3D movies from a PC unofficially.
Hi what camera do you use for filming?
Really is in that spot of sony why are you not supporting pc anyway
Does it work on a RTX 3080 video card
i have a 1060 ddr5 with this connection and it doesnt work
Can it mirror the screen on an android phone?
I just tried it all I could see is my desktop background. For me no application is displayed on the VR but only on my monitor.
Would love this on my steamdeck. I hope this gives us the knowledge to make some software to take any usb-c display and make it display over virtuallink
I tried, it didn't work 😔 unfortunately virtual link is a hardware feature, so no updates can fix it 😔
@Tyriel Wood - VR Tech Thanks for trying. That makes sense.
This isn't news. We've known it worked with USB-C video since before launch. You might be able to achieve similar results with a PCIE USBC card that supports video injection.
I wish Sony would make a full support for PCVR. They would sell so much more units if they made it work with PC.
Unfortunately they'd also lose out on potential future PS5 console sales as well as game sales so it's probably a bigger loss than it's worth for them
Yeah, I personally would consider getting one myself if they did support PCVR.
To get a VR set up of this quality you have 2 choices: spend around $1500 on a PS5 and PSVR2 (plus games) or, in order to get a PC VR setup with similar performance (from the testing I've seen) you'd want to aim for a PC with at least a 3070, i9, etc plus the headset with would run at least double that of the PS5 setup assuming MSRP (this is all CAD because that's the prices I know)
So if you're someone with no existing setup and you want to get into good VR the PS5 route is significantly cheaper.
Good game choice
Now the next question: How do we extend it beyond 4.5m? like can we get another 10m out of this? or at least 5m?
Can psvr1 do the same thing?
Ahhh, I knew there was a catch.... I need an older video card. Damn... So lame
Can i do the opposite.. i.e. use an HP reverb G2 on a PS5? My situation 😭😭😭
no, will never happen
do you try connecting psvr2 to 2080ti c port or maybe you try thunderbolt10gbps too? is it required to have usb-c port on GPU or thunderbolt should be enough?
It also works with Display Port over USB-C with an adapter that includes USB-A for data and Power Delivery input of 12V similar to the Bizlink VirtualLink Interface Adapter VR KSC001H with power cord
What headphones do you have there, and how easy are they to connect? How good are they, and how much do they cost?
very cool!
It works on Linux now but Windows will need external hardware, the drivers haven't launched yet but its been less than a day since its been solved!
one step closer!! great find!
You put us all in danger you know! I mean playing Halo on a PSVR 2??? The universe could just have exploded... :)
😂😂
Finally a reason to buy an AMD card - for some unknown reason 7900XT and 7900XTX reference models do have this connector.
the fact that head tracking means that its 100% possible for full vr to be modded in.
Can I connect it to a macbook pro?
Did you go into device manager and see what shows up? Do the psvr2’s cameras show up? How about the IMU?
I have 3090 and can't do this? Not even with the Dark Hero motherboard?
Hi Tyriel, understand the tracking not working. Then now about the stereoscopic 3D gaming? Can we enable S3D with PSVR2 in this way? And if modern AMD cards still offer virtuallink port? Thanks!
