Apparently his wife died while pregnant, must have been the 3rd baby? I am happy to see he has a few daughters , but his life was very very hard, he lost much.
I have a picture of Allen that I'm pretty his friends and me have only seen and I'm extremely proud of it. I don't look at it a lot because it makes me to sad.
I was so blessed to be able to work as a part of Roll For Rock ❤️Allen co-founded it in 1988. He didn't live long enough to do what he wanted to do. It's a very sad story but one I was so happy to be a small part of ❤️
Yes, I always rated Skynyrd's guitarists the best, I am finding Allen was quite grand singer as well, so was Steve Gaines , Ronnie knew how to pick 'em.
Allen ripped,,what a great talent he was..sad we lost him so young..he went through alot..he always seemed to smile even in his last days...all of them and all they did was just good stuff..so many talents in Skynyrd...all of them were fantastic be at what they did....and what they did was incredible !!
Wow. No shit. That was my old YT account. This is the first time I've visited this page since this comment was posted. I had no idea that that many people thumbs up'd it. Thank you everybody for supporting the original Lynyrd Skynyrd crew, and again, two years later... GOD BLESS LARKIN ALLEN COLLINS!
I love Allen Collins it's like he was dealt a bad hand with everything he went through. Just from loosing his wife the plane crash and then getting to the accident and being p paralyzed
Agree. Allen was the last one to get on the plane. He knew there was something wrong with the plane and had to be convinced by Ronnie to board. I read where he struggled with what's known as "Survivors guilt" for the remainder of his life. It was a tragedy all the things that happened to him. Living life in the fast line led to many bad choices. Ed King said in an interview Allen was one of the nicest people he'd ever met. RIP Allen.
Allen was A Master from what i read guitar players today still wonders of what how he played the way he did or ex at Knebworth love both ACB LG bless you for the music and do not forget Rossington Collins band
Thank you for sharing this. One of my favorites of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Tragic story. Great talent. Could have been one of the all time greats. Love his work!
(COULD OF??) IS ONE OF THE GREATEST. IN SO MANY WAYS.. PASSION, TALENT, STYLE AND MOST OF ALL A TRUE GENUINE DOWN TO EARTH (REAL) MUSICIAN!!!! RIP BROTHER
Thanks for getting this to me......Man it just crushes me knowing that this chapter is gone for good........I hope someday Allens family would release tunes that were not on the albums........Thanks again Stay rockin and in touch!!!!!!!!!
Really? He was good but he wasn't that good. What did he do that was fantastic? What did he do that was hard to do duplicate? The mark of true greatness is to do something that most people cannot do
After 2nd Helping I mailed some artwork to Gary's mother's house (Berniece) in Jacksonville hoping to have my work considered for a future album. A couple months later I got a postcard (that I had self-addressed and included with my work) in the mail from Gary and Allen. All it said was "God bless", signed Gary Rosdington Allen Collins. I was kind of bummed but my friends thought it was amazing. I got a reject letter from Playboy, as well. Gotta swing the bat...For the record, I also had a 30 minute conversation with Felix Papalardi, Sr. in Palm Coast, FL back in the mid '80s. He was flattered that I knew who he was and then became very talkative and open about his son
Would like to click "like" about a hundred times. Thanks for this, and it reminds me I need to get a copy of that 25th anniversary release of Here, There and Back. Excellent compilation of photos with the song!
Allen's lead style is always so deep Southern Rock, his heart was always so deep Southern Rock -untouchable. This lead sounds like Allen, then Berry in the middle, then Allen again in the end. I could be wrong.
I heard nips and pieces of these songs so I bought the CD I also watched the documentary and I bought the audible book and when I heard that they had made the comment at MCA that this was the closest thing to Street survivors album I immediately ordered it
i disagree , Street Survivors was unique to even any Skynyrd album.... and ALL of them are masterpieces,, but S.S. stands out among ALL of them, because of the contributions of Steve Gaines alone but MCA was in the business to sell records.... if they really believed that, why didnt they promote this record?
A very underrated album that only had one problem.. it came out a year late. Musical tastes had changed.. it was all heavy metal for the next few years.. i like it a lot.. lol..I used to think Allen and Ted Nugent were the same person way back in '75 before I knew who they were..
Thanks for posting this song. This is one of my new favorites. Never heard of this band before- too bad there was such a short history. But I am a fan now. They were good- all of them, vocals, and of course AC. Rock on! No dislikes.
@joebester No , the guy who did the vocals was Jimmy Daughtery...I saw this band at the old Memphis Cotton Carnival in 1983...And they played a "BUNCH OF SKYNYRD"..This was the closest to Skynyrd any of the spin offs of the original LS ever got to.
I'm on a campaign to get more photos of Jimmy on youtube. It's a crying damned shame that a man with such God given talent can't have a few photos for us to remember him by. Jimmy was one of the funniest guys I ever knew and his voice ? What can I say ? Very few of his quality around. RIP Jimmy. We miss you bro, and you will never be forgotten.
Fantastic Job on the Video! Thank you So Very Much for including a photo that I shot @ 2:37 in! Made me feel very proud to have contributed to this Beautiful Tribute!
Kathy didn't die giving birth. She died from hemorrhage due to the fact that she was told to stay on bed rest because she was spotting. The baby had died and was inside her for the duration of bed rest WHICH IS WORSE. Allen just live with the pain he had, I'm about to cry and I didn't know any of them.
@@MrJRHblues I loved his talents and believed that he would've been huge if not for the accident. Poor guy endured so much pain. But to answer your question, I dated one of the roadie's for the Rossington Collins Band(if you call 5 dated and endless amounts of Gin dating). That's what he told me. I'm sure his soul is resting now with his wife.
SteveGaines Pneumonia and complications of being paralyzed. Allen broke his neck again in the mid 80's and that time was left with permanent spinal cord injury. Drunk driving caused it. His girlfriend at that time died from the crash.
with all due respect, we know what Allen looks like. There are literally thousands of photos on the net. It would be nice to see some photos of Jimmy. His vocals are kick ass and he should have more recognition.
Skynyrd made him a dope addict and heavy alcoholic ......so sad because he was possibly, one of the finest guitar players/songwriters of the 1970s ....most do t know that he wrote 90% of the songs and RVZ helped with the lyrics
I still miss him!
RIP Allen 😢
This man is the most underrated guitar player ever seen in most duel guitar bands iron maiden Judas Priest rest in power Allen still inspiring today.
Such a talented artist.
Such a sad loss.

Imagine after all he's been through like loosing his wife to wake up paralyzed and being told you killed your girlfriend.
Allen Collins was a driving guitar force in the LSB . He left a lasting mark with the musical legacy of Lynyrd Skynrd.
Facts!
Best picker ever 2 finner bang s fretboard wit big ole bobby burns porid ever
Rest in peace Allen Collins and Jimmy Daugherty. A great guitarist who is sorely missed and a man with some underrated lungs.
They were a legit Southern Rock Band man had a great sound! RIP SKYNYRD
If you measure greatness with tragedy... There is only one band... The inner Bird in us all keeps skynyrd great.... Fly on
Well said Bob Curtsinger! Freebirds fly high
The Allman Brothers are in that category also. My two favorite bands.
And Badfinger. But that’s the worst
Amen
Couldnothave said it better. Turn it upand flyhigh forever, voice sounds a bit like paul rogers , good song like it😊 god bless
It's to bad I miss the band I miss the Era. I should have known. Still I know it was right before they took it away. We had it all.
he was the best. rest in peace and thankyou for the music. you were the backbone if skynrd
Each time I hear a song from ACB album I swear I'm listening to Allen instead of Jimmy. Miss you Allen and Leon~~

Great job for a great song!!!!
Great photos....wow!!!!!
Thanks for posting this - great guitar solo!
he lost his wife while she was pregnant with the third child. and yes he was having a hard time. that's why he wrote this song.
Is this Allen Collins having a hard time or Jimmy Doherty?
@@SQUIRRELGUY3ybENrT Allen
A major influence in how I play to this day and always will be. RIP
Yeah, so sad, he lost his girlfriend later as well, he suffered much more then most people.
Is this Alan Collins singing this song?
allen was it , but it was the whole band ....they were some bad mutha's ..but it was only cuz he was a God send ....!!!!
Dougherty is the sonic spitting image of Paul Rogers.
@radog32 one slight correction here. When allen got married,He had to wear a "shorthair"wig,to please the father.Gotta love it,huh?
Allen...nel cuore
Does anyone know where the lyrics are to most of the songs from this band? Anything helps. Thank you
Beer drinkers, and hell raisers.
it is not Lynyrd Skynyrd it is the Allen Collins band
dude where did you get all of this photos amazin video
Where can I find the lyrics to this? Does anyone have them?

Allen, 19 luglio 1952, avrebbe 60 anni.....
Did Allen ever sing?

No.
No, Jimmy Dougherty on vocals.
