Tragic. ..my opinion, as a pianist..excellent..intelligent, versatile and easy going.. brilliant and a genuine person..RIP..you aren't forgotten..kind regards Karolyn Melbourne Australia
They never got the credit they deserved musically. I think it's cuz they were rednecks from the south and they refused to apologize for who they were and where they came from.
Jimmy was a dear friend of mine, as well. Tremendous singer and talented drummer and songwriter, too. Derek Hess is one of the most underrated drummers in history, as well. He was so much better than all the other drummers in the genre.
Me, too... I got to meet Jimmy & his wife, GiGi at the Paxon Lounge when Randall Hall & the guys performed there on weekends around 2000-2001. Jimmy's smile was so infectious! I got to sit in on drums there often & will NEVER forget my "debut" with them, playing "Call Me the Breeze" for a very rowdy crowd! Those sure were some good times for this ole boy! 😄👍
This is great, would've been fantastic to have been there. As well as Allen & Billy (how great was Billy's playing & contributions to each song, brought the honky tonk, and melodic counterpoint to the guitars in the bands). Really like the singer's (Jimmy Dougherty is his name, yes?) performance too, reminds me of Paul Rodgers, while paying respect to Ronnie's vocals & the songs.
Wow , thank you for posting this. Brings back a lot of memories. Was supposed to see them at My Father’s Place in Roslyn N.Y.they canceled. Think they played the Lone Star Road House the night before. Missed that one. Saw Skynyrd 4 times before the Plane crash. Nothing compared to those guys. First time it was the 2 guitars Allen and Gary they were awesome. Then they added Steve Gaines and brought it to another level. They all kicked up a notch or two. What a tragedy. Thanks again. 🙏
You lucky man, you got 3 more times w LS (the real LS) then this young punk (62). They came out to the SF Bay Area a lot when I was too young. My loss. Missed Ed King as the third too. Looking for early and special recordings still. Long Live LS!!!
Ed King played the 3rd guitar on the first 3 LS albums. Ed also co wrote a lot of their hits as well as Sweet Home Alabama. It seems too many people give Steve too much credit, when it was Ed that was in the band when they had most of their hits.
@@snailracer3773 thanks , I know all about the history of the band . The first time I saw them Ed was already gone. And by the way Ed played bass on the pronounced album not guitar.
Would love to see the full unedited version without all the cuts. Thank you SO much for posting this. I was 9 in 1977 when the plane crashed, had ALL the LS albums and haven't heard any band that fulfills me as much as LS does.
I wish we could have heard more from Allen.

@@ronzo54 With your vast LS knowledge, why leave out Ed on the OP?
@@snailracer3773why don’t you read the op snail. Why would I mention Ed King if he wasn’t in the band when I saw them. Have a nice day😊
That singer is phenomenal
Still looking for recordings, both live and on vinyl. Thank you.
There is the New York concert from the Lonestar Cafe. It's the only one people know anything about.
Pleasure to watch, Thanks.
Thanks for uploading this and the Free Bird footage too!!!

@@MrJRHblues I was seven when it happened they really get me inside too 🎶🇨🇦🙏
The sound is slightly out of sync near the end of the video, but otherwise, this is GOLD!!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thanks for posting this!!
Wow, I love this shit. A hidden gem
love it !! Thank u !
That band was headed for number one Jimmy sound of good singing also
Gene Odom said that Allen was the key to the Skynyrd sound.
Collins was the sound of the Skynyrd , you can’t achieve the Skynyrd sound without collins
Allen's sense of "pitch" was superior. He knew how to contrast sounds. He was known for his knack for pitch
Gene Rodman is the MAN
I agree totally he is pure 🎶🇨🇦🙏
Really good
Awesome
This was really cool I just wished they finished the song
That's way cool man
Jimmy Daughtrey was a great singer
Definitely 🎤
Opening to Billy lol yeah
Part II ?
9:02 name song?
Working for MCA - Lynyrd Skynyrd
John Hancock, not John Henry 1:18
Who is Chuck?
@@jameshalpin1073 ya who is chuck ?
🇨🇱
Are they talking to Chuck Flowers who committed suicide?
Sure that's not AI? Nobody released that for 40 years?
It was a guy named
Cole Beasley, who discovered the people that had the video a few months ago.
They gave him permission to show the video.
Allen turned into Timmy from south park.
ain’t no need to say that😕
