      I’m aware she wasn’t blonde, but for an iconic Hollywood women series, I’d love to see Talullah Bankhead too (my namesake 😝✌🏻 my mum LOVES her). Talullah was very scandalous for the time 💖 when she almost died because of STD related complications, she had to have emergency surgery. Afterwards, her medical team were wheeling her to the car to leave, and dead serious, she said “don’t you dare think this has taught me a lesson!” 😂💖 ICONIC

After this series I think you should do iconic brunettes/red heads for sure!!!)

    Ma’am, “Norma Jean and Marilyn” was ICONIC. Mira Sorvino IS MARILYN in that and the “these are my real friends” speech as well as “you’ll be able to say you knew me when” and “ I’ll get famous if I have to fuck Bella Lagosi” lines are …….amazing in their camp and conviction with which they are delivered. I see it as Marilyn running from the truth and herself in a way she’d never escape. At points in the movie it was hallucinations from stress/drugs but at points it was like running from everything she came from. I’ll give you that the opening church scene and the motorist dream scene were gratuitous and unnecessary. I thought Mira was absolutely haunting as Marilyn. The voice, body language and the look ( especially the 60s happy birthday bubble silver blonde Marilyn) was on point to me.
    Concerning Niagara, she’s SO GORGEOUS in that. I love the “for a dress like that you gotta start laying plans when you’re 15” as well as the “ anyone at all as long as he’s a man” lines. That shot walking toward the bell tower from the car when she hears the bells was the longest shot of a woman walking away from the camera ever(at that point and according to publicity). Marilyn also allegedly cut a little off one heel of a pair of shoes to make sure she had that wiggle.
    You are so wonderful doing what you do and I love your videos. I just hadda say something because obvi I LOVE Norma Jean and Marilyn.💚

    I remember my mom used something called Lacque which was like lacquer (like paint) and her hair was like a helmet…Mom was a wig maker so she had lots of human hair pieces that she made also for herself. It was the age of towering almost Marie Antoinette styles. She earned lots of $ making those wigs and hair pieces…it was a very honored trade back on the day.

    I actually have the hbo doc movie and wore it OUT lol. My favorite is the secret life of Marilyn Monroe. Each life story movie is not gonna get everything right but look wise, this one got the closest in looks and style and I get giddy every time. Don’t bother to knock is my favorite acting wise because we see Marilyn really being serious and that tear rolling down her cheek at the window gets me emotional. Look wise …..the gold lame gown photo is EVERYTHING. Absolutely GORGEOUS. How whitey honored her wish and did her makeup for her funeral after she inscribed on a money clip she got him “while I’m still warm” is so sad but shows he was dedicated to her to the end. Oh I can go on and on. That wig looks amazing as always. ❤️

    I was really into Marilyn Monroe in my early 20s. It dovetailed nicely with my Truman Capote obsession, since they were friends and Marilyn Monroe is clearly the real Holly Golightly from “Breakfast at Tiffany's.”
    I agree that her life is depressing. And it was depressing before she even made it to Hollywood.
    Niagara may be her best film; her role has some nuance and grit to it. A lot of her roles are fairly two dimensional, and she's playing an image or idea more than a person.
    I do love her small role in “All About Eve,” also.

    Stunning work as always Jaymes!! Also, we have a theory about Marilyn that I think would interest you and your viewers. We think that Marilyn was multiples, like we are (many souls in one body, also known as dissociative identity disorder). We’re also many people in one vessel, and normally we don’t want to diagnose others with anything, but from Marilyn’s own collection of writings published in a collection called “Fragments”, you can see that Marilyn’s system (what multiples call a group of people in one body) was actually self aware. They used many different names, had different handwritings, had intense memory issues, and childhood trauma. All of those things point to multiplicity (DID/OSDD) but because it’s so stigmatized, especially by Hollywood (ugh don’t get me started on the films Sybil or Split, those are so awful and fake) she/they hid it. But even in the collection of Marilyn’s papers they show a birthday card Marilyn sent a lover where everyone in their body signed their own names! And it also would account for why she had so many memory problems on set, and even her maid said she would often take too much medication just because she couldn’t remember. This is all very clearly multiplicity! And us multiples are as numerous in society as redheads, but it’s just never talked about. We wanted to share so that more people realize us multiples do exist! And we’re fabulous, not just some horror movie trope.

      Aside from Fragments, do you have any other sources for that?

    • @vksof
      @vksof 2 роки тому +1

      @@cuddly-toy7646 That’s the only primary source collection of Marilyn’s works as far as we’re aware. In terms of research, primary source is the best way to go because it’s their own words. Secondary sources, like biographies, are not as credible as sources. If you know of any other collections of Marilyn’s own words, please share!

    • @vksof
      @vksof 2 роки тому +1

      @@cuddly-toy7646 Also we definitely suggest reading “Fragments” if you haven’t yet, it literally shows photo copies of all of Marilyn’s different handwritings, different perspectives, different experiences. It’s a really beautiful collection.

    • @cuddly-toy7646
      @cuddly-toy7646 2 роки тому +1

      @@vksof Okay, I definitely agree that celebrities are very hard to find reputable sources on. It's a shame there's not a whole lot of people that both knew her well and are alive anymore, as I think even doing an interview would be a better format than a biography.

    • @vksof
      @vksof 2 роки тому +1

      @@cuddly-toy7646 I agree! It’s a shame Marilyn wasn’t able to leave behind more. She (or potentially they) were so known and used as a sex symbol, but not truly listened to or well cared for 💔 You can see some of the frustrations about it in “Fragments” in their little notes and poems.

Then I dove into the water, that was so blue and clear and beautiful and chilly, and swam for miles across the city, where I ended up at some industrial facility where some bleach blond gay guys were building a bomb to blow up part of the city. But I played dumb so they would trust me, and I stole their explosive material and saved the day. So thanks for an exciting night James!

    Yay! You did Marilyn Monroe herstory, in a more interesting way. Love it! She's literally my favorite 50s star. I didn't know they were purposely pissing off Joe on the movie set. I know he went off and beat her when she got to the hotel. Stupid Tony Curtis talked so much crap about her too. Did you ever see the Larry King Special with her co stars on it? Celebrating her, then Curtis goes off on her, it almost turns into a battle royale.
    I miss your wrestling videos Jaymes!!! Talk about the Rumble, Lita, Ronda, Mania, happenings and fashion. Miss you!!
    You look amazing at the end there.💞

    I love your videos so much. Very comforting to watch. I love hearing more about old Hollywood. I'm not sure if you're just doing old Hollywood stars for the "Iconic Blondes" series or not, but I would love to see you try one of Hilary Duff's hairstyles from Lizzie McGuire, like with butterfly clips and stuff like that. Or even the hairstyle she had in A Cinderella Story during the Halloween dance where she had the curly hair with bangs.

    I love how you educate us with your videos about old Hollywood stars. Its funny cause Marilyn was my Blonde obsession in high school as well. I read so many books and seen so many documentaries about her. I cant wait to see what else you will teach us.

    Oh to be a fly on the wall in the studios during the iconic era of blondes in Hollywood! I loved her big movies when I was younger and I still like them now just it’s sad to enjoy some of them because I’m sure she was going through a lot when she made them.
