I just went to Multimaps and its crazy! MSD 420 with flatfoot shifting its just a dream come true! INCREDIBLE!!! I had dreamscience map before but this one its jus so, so better. In love with my car again! Thanks for your videos! Regards from Portugal!!!
@@AdamRainey You'll scare all the old ladies in Bangor lol! But just think of an overhead drone shot at Dunluce castle chasing the RS as it blasts over the crest of the hill at the little one-way section coming from Bushmills - would be awesome!
Great video Adam. Now you just need to get some spacers and springs for it to make it look perfect 👌 I'm very suprised with how fast the car revs up now it sounds familiar to the Mountune forged engine.
So I get that the torque is limited to 580nm for safety reasons like clutch and internals , is that correct ? Just bought a 200 cells cat so gonna upgrade to 400bhp soon to :)
it probably is on the limit of what the internals can handle, clutch is dependant on how it is driven but probably much more and it would wear quickly at which point it would make sense to upgrade to a competition clutch
Great vid once again I've taken the exact same route because of them im having the intercooler and sports cat fitted in a week or two then 420 from 400. But have to call for him too update them parts fitted. Didn't you not have to do the same??
As an owner, I have mine with 510NM and if I change gear fast, it does have some slip, if you just floor it, no worries as long as you don’t change gear, if you do, bye bye clutch.
Adam - you do a lot of 1 gear pulls. Plz go out to a country highway for a 1-4 or 2-5 gear pull. We all want to hear and see an extended run. Car sounds really good now.
@@Rookiereece I would add that the octane calculation is different in the US - in the UK it is just the RON value IIRC - in the US it is (RON + MON) /2. So 97 MON in UK is roughly equivalent to the US 93 (Premium)
the short answer is crank. The long answer is : advertised numbers over here in the UK/Europe for tuning tend to be talked about and advertised in the same way as and in relation to how car manufacturers advertise their horsepower numbers from factory so either hp or ps, with hp being metric horsepower and equivalent to ps. This translates to crank horsepower in American terms. So in this case if you think about how ford advertised the RS as having 345hp - my tuner has increased this to 420hp so this shows the comparable increase over stock whereas if my tuner was advertising the wheel horsepower from the dyno, it would probably come out maybe 351 at the wheels so it would confuse people who are considering tuning their car and probably put them off if they think they are only going to gain 6 horses which is of course not the case
@@AdamRainey thank you for that information, my RS is currently tuned and putting down 380hp/ 385ps to the wheels with 421 torque/ 572nm. so my theory is that this tune would put me in the range that i am looking for of 420 hp to the wheels.
On my st i kinda hate the powerband to mutch torque compared to hp 200 more is to mutch rathe have 350 hp and 450 instead 345 and 530 and after 5800 rpm its dead witch makes the 2.3 engine weak between cylinder 2and 3 turbo side not enough material
I am not afraid no, there are hundreds of people running the MSD420 map on stock internals without issue. Half the engine blows are people doing 30mph on stock tune so tuning to this level is just as safe
It's been fun watching your progress. That thing's a beast! Yes, do some datalogging and dial that monster in.
Thanks Dave, I will do the data logging soon hopefully, got quite a lot on at the mo!

Thanks Gareth :)

@@garethrogers5341 oh aye, I'm flying the fleg for us lol
Yes, def do an MSD protuning. We in the US do this almost exclusively. Really important for the health and power of your engine.....
Nice update Adam ... Power for powers sake is okay but its got to be USEABLE!!! 420 data logged would be where I would go next!!
Cheers Nigel, I will get the data logging done, just been so busy recently!
Get 'er lit up the North Antrim Coast, or down Strangford Lough and give us some nice scenery to go with the pops n' bangs!

Great update. Maybe just watch your clutch. 580nm is a lot. Not sure what the stock clutch can take. Have you had any slip?

Clutches don't last forever anyways so if it does start to go (seems fine right now) then that is just an opportunity to upgrade!

MSD are the only tuner i would recommend to anyone.
Used them for years on the cosworth yb 👍
Yea man, Stu is a great chap!
@@AdamRainey try pd tuning they are good.
So what would that be to the wheels ? Do you have ethanol in the UK? If so you should definitely look into running E30. Its another 20 Wheel HP!!
In Ni, we can only get Super Unleaded which is 97 octane, the rest of the UK can get 99 octane which is better it's quite a shame
Yea Reece, it really is a shame. Worse down south, they can't even get 97 so have to rely on octane boosters

Could i still tune with them if i live in the US?
Oh yes, just contact them and they will sort you out!
Just looking and waiting for an RS to come along so I can get my hands on one. Currently in a mk6 golf r but really fancy a focus!
Golf r what were you thinking they are the most boring looking car ever.
You have the 375 saved too? Thats the bonus to the msd
Yes sir, it is backed up onto the Cobb so then to revert to it I just uninstall the accessport and that is it
I would love to see 0-100 km/h time. What a beast 😀
I spy my 1.0 red edition fiesta at 10:42 lol 😂 damn annoyed i missed you drive past!
Used to have mine regularly parked next to his Focus and also Fiesta when he lived in Belfast
is the 420 at the wheels or crank?

IMO there's always room for improvement on any tune. I say do it. Of course when it benefits the car, its performance and safety most definitely.
Forged ?
nope, standard internals
yeah I would
Thanks Graham, I think I will!
If you had to guess, what do you think your 0-60 time is at 420?
About 4.3 seconds is average it would appear!
4.3 seconds sounds about right! If I were to guess it would be 0 - 60 in OH DAAAAAMN! lol
HAHA! Bridge... 😁

Why would you worry about the head gasket? The recalls were completed and the new ones haven’t failed.
