Cooking and Convo: Dating and Social Life in Lisbon

- This is a new series I'm excited to share on this channel. As I have said many times before, I never cooked in my life but in Europe I am trying many new things. In my quest to be a better future husband, I'm going to try to make something new every week while talking about what's going on in my life, namely my quest to find a relationship.

As a gay expat in Lisbon, the dating scene is rather challenging. I find that so many men are in open relationships and it's hard to find someone who's single and interesting.

Adrien please don’t change too much. If you feel it will make you a better person for YOU, then by all means, however doing it for someone else shouldn’t be your main focus. You are perfect just the way you are.

Adrien, love 😪 you have to add it slowly in order to emulsify it, if you add it all at once it will be too much and won't mix properly to end up with the proper texture...you have to do it slowly. I'm seeing this as a pattern for you in life lol don't rush! I know you've mentioned patience before...you gotta apply that to everything in life. Others have commented this on other videos, but trying too hard for a relationship, focusing on getting a relationship too much, always results in no relationship or a toxic relationship or a relationship that isn't exactly what you want...once you focus on working out/being healthy for you, learning to cook for you, etc. you will find a relationship that is right for you and has what you need out of it. Learning to cook is good for YOU not to find a partner or impress or take care of a partner. Also, physical attractiveness isn't really as big of a factor as you think. There's a LOT of factors as to why someone is single, many out of your control. but you are fixating too much on it while neglecting personal development in a meaningful way. People can sense desperation, even if they aren't aware that they sense it, it's a turnoff that they may not even be able to explain. Work on your interior, as you said. Just relax love and do things for you.
I hope my tone is coming across right in this, just relax, work on you for you, and good things will happen. There's no timeline on things in life, especially not relationships. You're already living an "unconventional" life, in a good way! Continue doing what you're doing and the right person, and the right things in general will come along.

I'm also curious how you went about starting your business in the US. I want to start one as a language tutor. Think this might be the best way for me to move to Pt.

@@ChatGayPT Gotcha. If I may ask, as a business owner who is also a US citizen, do you need to pay the self-employment tax to the US still? I want to start a business, and I hear the foreign earned income exclusion does not reduce your obligation to pay self-employment tax.
