Although being convicted for stalking and settling a defamation claim with Jeremy Vine, Belfield still refuses to acknowledge the damage he causes to me.
Please help me to raise legal fees to claim compensation from ex BBC presenter Alex Belfield who harassed and stalked me, and then threatened “he’d be back”.
I am raising money through Crowd Justice. All the money raised will go directly to Samuel Solicitors.
    www.crowdjustice.com/case/hel...
I am Philip Dehany and I need your help. I was a theatre blogger and am now a volunteer for the Terrence Higgins Trust.
I am one of the several victims who were harassed by former BBC presenter Alex Belfield, which led to him being jailed for five and a half years. After his trial concluded, but before he was sentenced, Belfield publicly revealed information about my HIV status. I am now claiming compensation from him in the civil courts, under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
Belfield’s awful campaign of harassment against me, (much of which was directed at my sexuality) continued even during and after his trial. He constantly published harassing videos about me and others, and made a lot of money from UA-cam advertising revenue and by asking for donations from his followers.
The impact upon me has been huge - my reputation has been seriously damaged and I lost my passion, confidence and ultimately my income as a theatre blogger. I am now seeking therapy.
I have now spent over £5,550 in legal fees and have to raise £15,000 to proceed with my claim.
Unless Belfield agrees to settle with me, which seems very unlikely, I will have no choice but to issue court proceedings against him and my costs to take the matter all the way to trial could reach £100,000.
If you are able to help, donate or share my story, thank-you.

Well I hope you do actually go and give some money to a homeless person today, I suspect you won’t, cause like many people you just come on here to throw insults at people. I am not spiteful or malice, that is Alex Belfield. A bully who I stood up to and will continue to fight until I get the apology and acknowledgment that my side and the other victims deserve.
You don’t have to support or help me, if you choose not to, that’s fine. But please don’t be as bad as Belfield by just using the internet to attack people.
Be kind. Go and help someone else, please do donate to the homeless.
This afternoon I will be helping Positivity UK at a picnic they are organising for people living with HIV.
I hope however you spend the rest of your day, that you have a nice day, and make someone else happy. Do something for someone else.
      That’s what I’ll be doing.

I am very happy with my life, thanks to Belfield being imprisoned, and once he settles my case I will carry on my life. Belfield is the one that will need to rebuild his life as a convicted stalker and self confessed liar once he is released from prison after spending nearly three years there. Harsh? I don’t think it was long enough, but what does it matter. The court of public opinion! That is brilliantly ridiculous. You’ll forgive me if I won’t rely on that, but will stick to the criminal and civil courts to hold Belfield accountable.
As I have said, I don’t need your support Douglas, or your misguided view.
As the only one who has read and responded to each and every message I have received, I will argue against your opinion that there is a “resounding” opposition to my efforts here.
Of course there are a lot of bigoted, idiots like yourself who I will continue to stand up to, but I’ll continue to be guided by the support, love and kindness of the majority of the balanced and fair, as well as my friends, family, my solicitor and the police in this on going matter, not to mention the judge, jury, and both mine and even Belfield’s solicitor. Who I can tell you all support me.
Don’t ever tell me to grow up. You patronising imbecile. You will never understand or appreciate the growth and strength that I’ve sought from this whole experience, and I am incredibly proud of myself.
I will never regret sticking up for myself and for everyone targeted and harassed by people like you following in the footsteps of Belfield, by thinking it’s acceptable to flounder free speech and courts of public opinion to weaponise the internet and persecute people.
Don’t you dare tell me to move on, when you have no comprehension of what it has taken for me to get here. I will move on, when I win this battle, and I will not give up until I have.
Don’t tell me how to live my life, I don’t need your council. Crawl back under the rock you came through and think about what it is about your own life that has turned you into this horrible, arrogant, self righteous and spiteful person and go and work on yourself, and stop harassing me with these uninvited messages. If i had been able to find just ONE SINGLE example of what Alex Belfield was found guilty of, I might have some sympathy for any of his accusers, but since nothing has been produced, are we to conclude that the piss taking in his UA-cam videos is what people now call direct stalking messages?
And how any gay man, could be comfortable having a conversation with Adrian Allen is beyond me. Are they ignorant to his previous populist shock jock persona rants in the early noughties? Philip would have been vilified by AA as a "Namby Pamby Pinko Liberal" in a pink Palace. Yet for some, any publicity or exposure is sort after.

    • @iamthat
      @iamthat  10 місяців тому +2

Well it’s funny how you can’t find one example of how Belfield stalked me, yet a jury of 12 different managed to.
Perhaps you should read the sentencing remarks from the case if you’re really that interested.
      www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/R-v-Belfield-sentencing-160922.pdf
And no, it was not just down to piss taking in his UA-cam videos, the stalking was evident in the series of tweets, emails, direct messages to my Facebook account, emails to my parents, finding out their address, phoning and recording a conversation with my mother, scrolling through all my social media, finding out sensitive information about me, including my medical history, in attempts to blackmail, and expose me. That is how Belfield stalked me.
As for Adrian Allen, I don’t know his past, all I know is the kind and supportive person who, unlike other people on UA-cam who made videos about Belfield just to make money without any research, Adrian knows and understands Belfield, and has followed the case, and reached out to me, to check that I was ok. I respect him for that.

You can spin all your conspiracy theories you like and I don’t even need to try and convince you of anything.
You’re not the judge of jury. They did their job, they found Belfield guilty, and regardless of whether you felt it was fair, even his appeal wasn’t upheld.
But since you wanna go there, let’s continue to examine the facts. You want evidence “how truly terrible his stalking was” I offer you this…
As The Honourable Mr Justice Saini stated quite clearly,
“Online stalkers like you have the ability to recruit an army of followers whose conduct massively expands the effect of your stalking. That is why I say your stalking is in many respects more serious than a conventional stalker”
“The stalking of Mr Keith caused him serious alarm or distress”
“Ben Hewis, also causing him serious alarm or distress”
Belfield “made communications which had serious impacts on the private lives of the complainants with distressing effects on their mental and physical health.”
“Mr Keith gave the jury graphic and distressing evidence of how close he came to hanging himself. He was seconds away from taking his life as a result of your conduct.”
“Mr Keith also felt at serious physical risk of attack”
      “highly distressing UA-cam videos.”
      “a flood of abuse”
“Mr Hewis gave compelling evidence as to the distress he suffered”
“Mr Dehaney was the subject of a vicious and continued campaign of abuse”
      “offensive tweets”
“It was an outrageous and cruel act”
“caused serious and continuing fractures in Mr Dehaney’s relationships”
“You also sought to humiliate Mr Dehaney about his mental health”
“he was clearly vulnerable and shielding”
“your actions were planned, repetitive and intended to cause Mr Dehaney distress and included hostility based on his sexual orientation.”
“The effect of your conduct on Mr Vine’s family and daughters was significant.”
“Mr Vine considered himself and his family to be at risk from you”
“I find harm and distress including psychological harm was caused to Mr. Vine.”

I have to agree. I think it’s a real shame, that Belfield didn’t do more with the huge opportunity and reach that he had. I honestly believe he could have done enormous good, if he hadn’t have been so obsessed and consumed with hatred.
I know he pulled the wool over a lot of people‘s eyes, and I’m not sure people were aware of what he was doing until it was too late.
I’ve asked myself a lot whether his close friends and family knew anything that he was doing, or even watched his channel to observe his behaviour, or if they did whether they said anything. I suspect he was able to hide a lot from them.
But I guarantee, I know he has not changed, and won’t. By refusing to settle my civil case, shows he still doesn’t think he did anything wrong.
He will only end up spending over two years in prison which isn’t long enough to change a person, unless they want to, which I don’t believe he does.
The worrying thing is that, he will be able to pick up where he left off when he is released, and I believe like Katie Hopkins he will just keep going.

I don’t care whether you find it hard to believe that I am a victim. You weren’t on the jury that convicted Belfield. The jury who heard me give two days of evidence, the jury who believed me, and found Belfield guilty of stalking me.
Could I have coped with his “criticism” perhaps, but why should I have had to.
What you’re doing by making these comments is victim shaming. Suggesting that just because a victim might be capable of dealing with a crime, that makes it ok.

Hi Philip, As hard as it may seem, you need to get more interest which, hopefully, will get the ball rolling for you. My finger is hovering over the donate button, but, with such a huge task to reach your target, I feel, at present, that my contribution would be wasted unless I see the moneyball gathers some momentum. Please don't let this be a downer, many people are with you and, hopefully, we will soon see you nearing your target and help you reach it. Please keep us informed of your progress. I wish you well.

Thank you for your message. I do appreciate it, and it is entirely up to you of course. Although all I can say is that if everybody felt like this, then I would definitely be no further to reaching my goal.
Plus as I say, at this stage, I am pledging that I will pass on every donation to the Terrence Higgins Trust, when the legal fees are recovered.
Where as if I have to find other means to raise this money, such as loans or credit, that carry interest charges, (which will be my next cause of action) this will mean I am unable to raise as much money for the charity.
Ultimately the more money I can raise through this appeal, the more money I will raise for the charity that saved my life.

I understandand don't want to discourage you, in your fight, or anyone from donating. If you reach your present target, that won't be the end of financing you. There will be further, much larger targets. Have you sought the help of barristers in training whose fees will be much lower?@@iamthat

Seriously? You're thinking of donating money? If he wants to sue, let him use his own money like everyone else. Nothing like a good scam. What shocks me is, people actually give money to these scammers.

    • @iamthat
      @iamthat  10 місяців тому

@@yinyangforyou I have stated quite clearly, that I have already spent £4,000 of my own money, and am now broke. Thanks to Belfield refusing to settle this case.
Also the money donated goes directly to my solicitor. I won’t see a penny of it.
How exactly can you call this a scam?
You should watch your words carefully, as what you are saying is slander, and as you should be aware every message that is left on these videos will be seen by my solicitor and by the police who are continuing to investigate Belfield for further criminal activity.
Your comments, will potentially now be used as supporting evidence in my claim.

@@iamthat you are one wacko jacko! What. You go around threatening people? No wonder you're in this position. To me, you're scamming people. They pay your bills and then, if you win, you keep all the money? If that's not a scam, I don't know what is.

However, it's as obvious as the nose on your face he's a political prisoner ....

@@iamthat What do you expect? You're asking people for $15,000 dollars! Pay your own bills like everyone else who sues! So, people donate money. Then, if you win, you keep the lottery? That's quite the scam. Lawyers take on contingency cases so, why aren't you going that route? Because you don't want to share any $ with anyone. Unbelievable is all I can say

@@yinyangforyou I’m not going to continue this conversation. If you know anything about this case, it stemmed from harassment, which in law is contacting someone more than twice. You have now contacted me three times. You have stated your opinion. I have politely responded to you, you’re refusing to listen or accept what I have to say, therefore I have nothing further to say. Please do not comment again.
