This is BBC East Midlands Today news report on ex BBC presenter Alex Belfield’s sentencing. He was jailed for five and a half years for stalking four people including Jeremy Vine and myself.
I am finally able to speak out about ex BBC Presenter and UA-camr Alex Belfield as we prepare to go to court to settle my civil case against him.
I am Philip Dehany I was a theatre blogger and am now a volunteer for the Terrence Higgins Trust.
I am one of the several victims who were harassed by former BBC presenter Alex Belfield, which led to him being jailed for five and a half years. After his trial concluded, but before he was sentenced, Belfield publicly revealed information about my HIV status. I am now claiming compensation from him in the civil courts, under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
Belfield’s awful campaign of harassment against me, (much of which was directed at my sexuality) continued even during and after his trial. He constantly published harassing videos about me and others, and made a lot of money from UA-cam advertising revenue and by asking for donations from his followers.
The impact upon me has been huge - my reputation has been seriously damaged and I lost my passion, confidence and ultimately my income as a theatre blogger. I am now seeking therapy.
I have already spent over £4,000 in legal fees and have to pay £1,500 more for the work which has been done to get me to this stage.
Unless Belfield agrees to settle with me, which seems very unlikely, I will have no choice but to issue court proceedings against him and my costs to take the matter all the way to trial could reach £100,000.
I have begun to update this article with my full account of what happened. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I will be uploading all of my evidence that was submitted during the five week trial, and detailing every step of this horrendous ordeal and how it affected me.

I remember I followed Belfields rants on his channel here on youtube over a long period of time, but suddenly for some reason he just vanished. Now this video is 9 months later.. 5 and a half year for stalking somebody? 5 and a half year in prison? If it was an attempted murder I could understand that sentence, but.. stalking... He must have uncovered something that hits a nerve into the governmental web somewhere..

    • @iamthat
      @iamthat  2 місяці тому

Nope. No conspiracy. You need to stop watching videos on UA-cam. They are warping your mind, Belfield was found guilty of stealing four people, over a nine year period. The sentence he received was four separate charges added together which is why he is serving five and a half years. It’s as simple as that. If he had not stalked so many people for so long he wouldn’t have got such a long sentence.

Alex Belfield was guilty of multiple crimes against multiple people, including defamation, fraud, harassment and blackmail as well as stalking many people over a ten year period.
      His crimes were extensive.
Belfield’s 5 years and 26 weeks sentence was a result of him being found guilty of stalking four of the eight complainants in this trial.
      For this he received
      2x 2 years 6 months imprisonment.
      2x 13 weeks imprisonment
      These were added together.
Had Belfield not stalked multiple people, he would not received such a long sentence.
In our case. Where there were eight complainants, Belfield was found not guilty of four, and then found guilty of two counts of aggravated stalking (with a penalty of 2 years 6 months imprisonment) and two counts of simple stalking (with a penalty of 13 weeks imprisonment).
Had Belfield been found guilty of all eight counts. His total sentence would have been 20 years.
It’s also worth noting that Belfield appealed his sentence and lost. It was therefore considered fair.
