So very good like all your videos 👍 I bought an aygo, knowing theyre pretty easy to fix by oneself. Just... nice to know, i thaught. What a helpful video.Got my 60 plate 107 3 weeks ago and i could hear some noise coming from the engine bay but wasnt sure where the noise was coming from exactly.Today i took the front bumper off to get to the auxillary belt as i was gonna take it off to check what was sounding rough.I noticed a puddle under the car and this confirmed that the water pump was the faulty part.I got the new pump and belt and getting it fixed first thing in the morning.Brilliant step by step video.I feel i could do this myself but cars already booked in at the garage now.
Thanks mate this helped a lot, made it really easy. Replaced mine at work after the pump seizing the day before and melting the belt. thankfully seems that the previous owner misplaced the wheel arch lining so made the job even quicker 😅

Hey Anton at what temp do fan kick in/starts after u has refill anti freeze. I have an Peugeot 107, shall replace water pump for first time in my life. And change thermostats.
Can I ask please - Is it normal for the alternator not to turn by hand? I'm not sure whether it's my water pump or alternator that's the problem. Any help would be great thanks
Nice job, the only thing that crossed mind was length of the new bolts. I know they were longer to accommodate the deeper casting but I think I would have checked that their projection amounted to the same as the original bolts in case they bottomed out in the tapped holes ( you might have already done that off camera). Not sure if the water pump was genuine Toyota but been caught out so many times with patent parts.
Hello aanton11, Thank you for your great video. I’m still asking myself if my belt tension is good. I’ve followed your advice but not so easy to be sure that the belt is enought or too much tight. I’ve some question: 1) Is it normal that the belt tension rise when the engine is hot ? 2) Just for comparison, what is the length or the alternator screw for belt tension behind the welded/fixed bolt ? The technical manual or the Aygo recommand a bending or the belt between 9-11mm when apply a force of 10kg on the belt in the middle between alternator and cranckshalft. Very difficult to test because of reduced space. Thank you for helping me choosing the right belt tension. Sorry for my english, I com from Switzerland.
Don’t get too worried about the tension, start on the looser side and run the engine as long as it doesn’t squeak when under load ie heated screen and wipers on you will be ok 👍🏻 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

The old waterpumps actually were part of a recall, exactly because of that reason. The pressed plate housing warps. Surprised it held this long. Oh, and by the way, the block actually has a coolant drain, just right beside the pump.
Good job there ;) we can notice at 26:55 the engine moving a bit is this normal movement or an indication of bad motor mounts? if so, very looking forward to their replacement :)
That's completely normal, it's a 3 cylinder so that's why it makes such movements, if your engine would make movements the same as when you start it at 26:55 everytime then that would mean your engine's supports are going to die or are already dead
Why did you do work on a car with no axle stands and wheel wedges? Not being a OCD captain safety but I would never work on a vehicle only supported on a 1 tonne trolley jack because if it fails well you know what will happen.
Thanks for the concern, I have a fantastic jack with a safety lock, and always use a axle stand if I am working under the vehicle, I don't remember going under the car on this job, but Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Glad it was helpful!, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
The old waterpumps actually were part of a recall, exactly because of that reason. The pressed plate housing warps. Surprised it held this long.
Oh, and by the way, the block actually has a coolant drain, just right beside the pump.
Thanks Paul for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Do you know when they changed to the newer waterpumps?
Do you know if the 2010 cars also came with these waterpumps?
It's easy to recognise; the new one is cast alloy.
I can't remember when they OEM changed them.
Could you do a valve seal replacement video please?
I will, if I ever come across one that needs doing they are so reliable and don’t really wear out that often, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
was a great help...tnx !!!!!
You're welcome!, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

I hope the front brakes are next on your to do list 😅
Lol its in another follow up video, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Good job there ;)
we can notice at 26:55 the engine moving a bit
is this normal movement or an indication of bad motor mounts?
if so, very looking forward to their replacement :)
Normal movement on the engine, I am sure I can find a few More jobs to do lol, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠
That's completely normal, it's a 3 cylinder so that's why it makes such movements, if your engine would make movements the same as when you start it at 26:55 everytime then that would mean your engine's supports are going to die or are already dead
Thank you
You're welcome Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Nice❤
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
You could drain the system first, but what's the fun in that.??
I always think you stand a chance of breaking something else, so just remove the bare minimum, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I got a squealing fan belt, it's been tightened twice already, 1 by arnold Clark and again by local kwikfit. Any advice on how to stop it for good?
Change the belt, but I would suspect the water pump is also worn, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hello, at 26:56, we can hear a sort of friction noise. I have a similar sound on my city bug sometimes. If anyone has an answer as to where it comes from, it would be great. Otherwise, thanks, I enjoyed the videos
All I can hear is belt noise, nothing unusual unless its louder, then it could be an worn belt, oversight belt or water pump/ alternator worn, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Where's your axle stand
The jack I use in this video had a built in axle stand, very handy Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Take it easy on those bolts because the aluminium threads in the engine block strip very easily.
Ask me how I know...
ouch, steady as she goes, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
To finish the job the motor must be brought to its working temperature until the electric cooling fan engages
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
