The drummer was not the only lead singer in the band. They were changing the lead singers depending of the song. And also all of them could play two or more instruments. After Glenn Frey died, Don Henley commented on the song meaning. He said all he’s going to say is that “it’s about going from innocence to experienced and regrets along the way”.
For all of old codgers born in the 50's and grew up in the 60's and 70's we were so spoiled musically, because we fortunate enough to have grown up on this music. The Eagles were HUGE in the 70's, I guess you can see why. When you have Don Henley on drums, Glen Frey on the acoustic guitar, Randy Meisner on the bass, Don Felder on the double neck guitar and Joe Walsh on the lead/rhythm guitar who are all great musicians and vocalist individually, but when you put them all together you have an AWESOME band called, The Eagles.

I got my driver's license in 1977! The Eagles don't have a "Lead" singer, songs are sung by multiple leads, Glenn Frey, Don Hendly, Joe Walsh etc. Basically the inhabitants of Hotel California are "Spirits"!
Hotel California by the Eagles is song they wrote about people going to California and the Hollywood life . So many people go but only few make it there dreams come through .
I consider them the best American guitar band in history alongside Lynyrd Skynyrd. I mean, when you sound just as good in concert as you do in the studio says it all.
The drummer was not the only lead singer in the band. They were changing the lead singers depending of the song. And also all of them could play two or more instruments. During the concerts they were switching and they could just pick up any instrument and play. Amazing group of unbelievably talented musicians.
The band member who took the lead vocals was determined by who wrote the song. They wrote their own music as well.

There are many hotels with the name "California".
After Glenn Frey died, Don Henley commented on the song meaning. He said all he’s going to say is that “it’s about going from innocence to experienced and regrets along the way”.
😄 Ha!! the young lady dropped a Pat Benatar lyric right into the convo. Kudos!! "...and no one can tell us we're wrong"
I was 14 or so & this was a MONSTER hit! Take it to the Limit, next pls!
So I'm guessing you're 59 or 60 yrs old now.
@@kentaroo.7759 close 58, lol
For all of old codgers born in the 50's and grew up in the 60's and 70's we were so spoiled musically, because we fortunate enough to have grown up on this music. The Eagles were HUGE in the 70's, I guess you can see why. When you have Don Henley on drums, Glen Frey on the acoustic guitar, Randy Meisner on the bass, Don Felder on the double neck guitar and Joe Walsh on the lead/rhythm guitar who are all great musicians and vocalist individually, but when you put them all together you have an AWESOME band called, The Eagles.
Amazing guitar solo, amazing song...
man this gets me misty eyed everytime...in 1977 I just graduated St Brendan's grammar school here in L.A...asked my mom if I could have a graduation party..surprisingly she said yes..we had a very small class of 23 students..2 who went on to form Faith No More..I had my first slow dance to this song..man funny how music makes you remember so many memories
I was 15 when this song dropped. Just getting my "approach" worked out. Grew up near Myrtle Beach, SC. You might say it was a "target rich environment".
Top 5 songs of all time….period.
I'm 68 yrs. , Your Never to Young. To Learn Ole Things,......Never To Ole , to Learn New Things... 💯✌️💞✨🙏✨ Enjoy Both ya All's Company , Your Both Fun 👍🤣
At time when talent was required and everyone was a musician, a time before the internet
I'm 46, I didn't see the Eagles in the 70s. But, I love their songs. Don't worry, you guys are young and have plenty of time to reinvent the classics of world music.!.
Aloha love you younger enjoy the 70s am a fan love your timeline keep on rocking and rolling with the change from an ex marine Vietnam era music keeps us alive throughout the 70s love happy thanksgiving and stay safe be ware of your surroundings keep the faith ciaos
The band said this song can mean whatever you want it to. Most interpret it as an analogy to the California music industry. You can get into the music biz but then you can never leave. Best concert ever at thne Capitol Center in Prince Georges County MD.
The greatest band, glad you two. You make me smile THANKS.
The whole band can sing. . .check out Seven Bridges Road live. . .one of the best group vocal performances ever.
Eagles greatest hits 1 covering 1971 to 1975 is the number one selling album....of all time
You two crack me up! What a fun couple you two are!
