I've not long watched the video of the final concert of Runrig at Stirling castle; I was in tears then, but your beautiful rendition brought it back to life.
The Vision is now, the Hearts of Oak and Glory, the tree of life Christ Our Savior, his truth and love are in every morning and every dawning. He is the Day, the Day Light and the Day Life.
I listen to the song over and over again: it’s delicious. I fall in love with the discreet and precise way of singing of Julie and the delicate accompaniment of Eamonn, her husband. The movement of Julie's hands and the look they make at each other at the end of the song are charming.
I don't know the background to this song if it's a traditional song or an original but it's absolutely beautiful. I'm a fan of Julie's and I've seen her perform once or twice, the purity and tone of that lovely soft voice is something to be reckoned with and this is just perfect.
Lyrics There's thunder clouds Round the hometown bay As I walk out in the rain Through the sepia showers And the photoflood days I caught a fleeting glimpse of life And though the water's black as night The colours of Scotland Leave you young inside There must be a place Under the sun Where hearts of olden glory Grow young There's a vision coming soon Through the faith That cleans your wound Hearts of olden glory Will be renewed Down the lens Where the headlands stand I feel a healing Through this land A cross for a people Like wind through your hands There must be a place Under the sun Where hearts of olden glory Grow young There must be a place Under the sun Where hearts of olden glory Grow young
It is such a pleasure to listen to Julie and to the type of songs she chooses to sing.Such a nice change from the trash sexy women singers like Rihanna and Beyonce
I am so used to hearing her sing in Scottish Gallic, that the first few words in English she sang, I got confused for a second. Then realized she is singing in English.
Julie showing her love for Runrig covering their song. Keep them alive.
It's so wonderful to see a husband and wife perform together.
Absolutely stunning. Julie really nails this song. And Eamonn does a good accompaniment too.
Julie Fowlis singing Runrig...perfection.
A performance unequalled in its sensitivity of our love for our country and who we are as a a family and as a nation. Every success to yoy, Julia...!
Oh my goodness. It's beautiful.
Just came across this gem after Bruce guthro’s passing. My beard is soaking wet now. Utterly gorgeous, and a timely find….
Yes when one travels through our Country , really the colours of our land really shines very much .
Really the light of our land , just gives our land justice of how beautiful it is .

So beautiful. Julie's voice is a national treasure, and Eamonnn makes that bouzouki sound sweeter than I thought was possible.

So lovely. ❤️
Great passion in everything she sings.
I had previously heard her sing this with Runrig, but I prefer this quieter non-rock version with just her lovely voice.
Sublime. Thank you. In Panama and missing home.
Beautiful. I’d love to hear her do “Thairis Air A Ghleann”, I think she’s the only person other than Donnie Munro who could do it justice.

A Runrig sing-along oldie, never to fade.....
Written by Calum and Rory MacDonald, brothers from North Uist, founding members and songwriters for Runrig for 45 years.

Lyrics
There's thunder clouds
Round the hometown bay
As I walk out in the rain
Through the sepia showers
And the photoflood days
I caught a fleeting glimpse of life
And though the water's black as night
The colours of Scotland
Leave you young inside
There must be a place
Under the sun
Where hearts of olden glory
Grow young
There's a vision coming soon
Through the faith
That cleans your wound
Hearts of olden glory
Will be renewed
Down the lens
Where the headlands stand
I feel a healing
Through this land
A cross for a people
Like wind through your hands
There must be a place
Under the sun
Where hearts of olden glory
Grow young
There must be a place
Under the sun
Where hearts of olden glory
Grow young
Lovely version.
Thank you, from the spring of my heart
