Who In there Right mind would give Sting such a platform to play on? Always knew, Peter & Sting would put on a great concert. Such a surprise. Now that's is what I call, a party song! 🎊
2 Legends. 1 Stage. Saw this same tour in Denver. So many great songs and memories all in one incredible place! Loved that they sang duets of each others' songs too.
Musical footnote: I guess the first time they sang together was on the (quite brilliant) Phil Collins song "Take Me Home" in the mid-80's. (They sang backing vocals with - if memory serves me - Helen Terry.)
Sting is so happy for teleprompters... BUT, thank you so much for posting this. GREAT video. So glad I lived in the generation of Genesis, Pete, Phil, Tony, Mike, Steve, etc... Gifts from the Gods of the Universe.
This was the first show I took my then 12 year-old to see. He's a pretty big Gabriel fan. Sting was great, but Peter is so different and for me more than really anyone else.
Wow i actually flew from FL to DC to Watch this concert I was THERE!!!!!!!!!!! ,Was sitting stage right got to study Vinnie all night :) aside from watching 2 legends in music
Memories of being in Bob Gaters artroom in 1980, studying for my art 'O' level. He let us have the radio on as we worked and this used to play regularly, along with his then current hit Games Without Frontiers. Great memories. RIP Mr Gater, you were a great teacher, thank you.
OK, I'll take the bait. No, it's not priceless. I share my recordings for the numerous people who couldn't or didn't attend the show(s), and for those who want to relive it. Why did you watch it?
I think you need to give Bob Ezrin some of the credit for that one. Apparantly Peter's original lyric was "make yourself a taxi not a tomb" or something like that. Sorry to read your comment though.
I saw RPS in Chicago and it was like none other having seen every live Gabriel tour since 1978. From the Uptown Theater to The Chicago Stadium with WOMAD in beween. All awesome....keep it up Pete
@@1990-t1j fair enough, but I do think Peter’s voice is still really good but maybe a notch lower now than in his younger years. I would have to hear him live I guess….doubt that will happen now tho ☹️ x
Incredible! You had much better seats then me, or just a better camera. XD. Fantastic concert, this is my favorite song, thanks for uploading this, was hoping someone did.
Does Tony Levin ever age? He looks exactly the same now as he did with King Crimson during _1981's!_ Discipline album. Oh and for those of you not in the know, Tony Levin is the bald gentleman with the mustache on bass guitar. He's been with Peter Gabriel from the beginning.
In the 70s, he was a tall, thin, young man with a shaved head. Now, 40 years later, he's a tall, thin middle-aged guy with a shaved head. His exterior is exactly the same. Amazing, really.
Thanks for sharing!!!...No matter how many times you hear it a great rock/pop song is STILL great!!!....of course Peter's band is always been top notch...I recognize Tony Levin (of course, the original bald guy in this troupe!) wearing the one piece jump suit from years ago....then Dominic Miller from Sting's band...Sting...and then is that David Rhodes on other bald guitar?...and who is drummer?....thanks again....
Thanks for the comments. Tony introduces everybody (with pictures) on this tour diary page: tonylevin.com/road-diaries/peter-gabriel-sting-2016-tour/washington-show
"Just give them the hits" Give them what they want. Fill seats. Thats why I would never go to a Sting concert. Peter Gabriel is in another Universe completely.......a true Soul Man.
The Pamesan uhm no. Phil and Genesis asked Peter to do the Genesis farewell tour in 2007 *and play the entire Lamb Lies Down On Broadway record* with Steve Hackett on board. Hackett said yes if Pete did it. *PETER SAID NO* Collins responded rather angrily with "I guess Peter didn't want to have a lot of fun!." Phil knew playing The Lamb with Gabriel and Hackett would have been *huge* prog rock history and a colossal conclusion to Genesis. They settled for playing The Carpet Crawlers as the last song and conclusion of Genesis. *Peter ruined it*
You and I are probably two of the few in this comments section who even know who Tony Levin is. ;) And you're right, he does get around. Toured with Gabriel, King Crimson and Yes to name a few. One of the best progressive rock bassists on the planet.
Esta muy chingon, teniendo a estos máster en el escenario, a sting ya he tenido la oportunidad de verlo, Peter Gabriel me he quedado con las ganas, lastima de la calidad del video
You know how a song can be a reference point in your life? Well, my sister left for her freshman year of college the year this came out. She went to Marywood college in Scranton Pennsylvania (at the time, an all girl school). We went to pick her up for the holidays and she informed me that the school (Marywood) ...unbeknownst to her, was a complete lesbian retreat. She also told me that Solsbury Hill was like the lezbo anthem at Marywood. She didn't last there. That was my little Solsbury Hill lesbian story. This is still one of my favorite songs ever. It made my heart go boom, boom, to see everyone on stage enjoying the hell out of themselves.
I must say, Sting's voice fits this song VERY well indeed.
PGs voice is absolutely timeless.
Peter Gabriel is amazing.. I never get tired of hearing that lovely voice!
LOVE THIS JAM. GREAT SONG. NEVER GETS OLD
“You can’t write a song in 7/4”
Gabriel “hold my beer”
This is the fifth time I've listened to this song from different vids today. Looking forward to the sixth...

Peter Gabriel's music has a timeless quality, no wonder 'Solsbury Hill' is a timeless classic!!

Sting looks so much older now, still amazing though!
I always considered this a favorite of mine. Grew up with this song.

Saw this tour in Columbus, OH. Amazing talent. Peter is such an incredible artist and wonderful human being.

I flew from Atlanta. I learned a long time ago not to ever miss a Peter Gabriel tour!
I’ve been addicted to this song since the 80’s. I can quit anytime.
Betcha can't :-)))
You know the line -
Had to listen, I had no choice!

3:12 that silly contagious joggle of pure joy and happiness. Only Gabriel can make you feel that way.
That's just such good fun! I'm still smiling 😀
Two fantasticuloustic voices together on my favorite song, is this heaven?
2 British geniuses. Seen Sting live with the Police totally brilliant live. PG up there with the best, such an uplifting song.
Awesome! Thank you for posting this!
I guess it's priceless to have a self-made recording like this... ;--)

Too bad I missed this tour. I'm a fan of both Sting/Police and Peter Gabriel. I did see them both at a festival eons ago though.
Thank you for posting this. I'd love to see him in concert.
peter still sounds fantastic
"Grab your things son. I've come to take you home." God telling my son on March 25, 2018 it was time.

I just put my son to bed and this hit me. God bless you.
I used this song at my husbands funeral as well.
My son went home Dec. 29, 2019

If you look up Peter Gabriel's 1978 live concert, Levin hasn't changed a bit, poor Peter sure has though.

Man believe me, take a close look. He has aged (as natural)!...
I know who Tony Levin is, but I don't see a mustache on his bass guitar... :P
And he's FAN-TAS-TIC!
I'm in the DC area. You did a fabulous job getting this video inside Verizon Center.

Vinnie Colaiuta
Actually, Vinnie Colaiuta is not playing on this song. The drummer is Ged Lynch from Team Gabriel. :)
Correct, my mistake.

YES😀😀
Immortals !!!
They played near me (Chicago). I wish I had the money to see them. :(

I wish he would do a tour in 2019
