Buy it, they are all out in the country and no one wants to live in many. There are tens of thousands of them alone in france. that would be an enormous undertaking for one person to live in one its not viable, unless every millionaire in france wanted to live in one.
Beautiful. The horses are fine, they are just elderly, but well cared for. The embroidered chairs were very old - from the 1700s. The photos from the second half of the 19th century. I very much enjoyed this one. Thank you.
Sam and Jess, I proclaim you Urbex royalty. Your explores just get better and better, this one - outstanding. Good to see Steve Ronin again, he seems to pop up everywhere.
Well it certainly would have been nice to know the history of this house and the generations of family that thrived and lived there. could you imagine how much it would cost just to pay the hired help let alone the maintenance on the house. slavery was abolished in 1848 in France so from that point on they would have had to pay the hired help. I'm sure some very influential family lived there over the years. where did they go
What a magical place and the ending with the 2 white horses finished the video off perfectly!! Thanks Sam and Jess for sharing your adventures with us keep up the good work ❤ xx
This has got to be one of your best explores ever. Wonder what happened to the family. Beautiful mare and stallion. Flies drink the moisture out of their eyes and can cause all sort of problems, hence I put a fly veil on my horse. The stallion could just be old, theres heaps of feed for them. They both are in good condition for brumbies. They are obviously used to people. What a special ending to your explore. Stay safe xx
Wow so glad you enjoyed it Amy 🥰🥰 Damn, they sure need a veil too 😥 Very glad they’re likely taken care of though. Thank you for the info! Great to have you watching ❤️
@@Samandjessexplore No worries. Thank you for your reply. I would say tey are some what taken care of as they seemed very tame. You wouldnt get near a brumby. Take care and stay safe xx
It's so heart rending, time passes, people die...no one seems to care that these people and places existed. There must be somone who owns the chateau?! Remember in one of the bedrooms, there's a photo of the white wild horses... fantastic! They've probably been around for years!! Wow, wild horses.
This was a wonderful explore. Thank you much. Must have been a vibrant home to many families through centuries. The furnishings are still lovely, but the castle is decaying in weak spots despite it being so well made. The grounds are beautiful. The appearance of the white horses was perfect. Jess was delighted. They are cared for and may be ridden by their owner. Very well behaved and well groomed horses like those have people. France can still be magical. 💙🌸🌙🐌
Just recently started watching and for sure not disappointed. I think what really makes me like Sam and Jess is how so respectful they are of the house they go in. Looking forward to catching up on other episodes. Great work guys.
As an American I can’t fathom this. I recall going in an abandoned home -a 1956 ranch (ooohh) in Oakbrook IL. Family photos strewn from one end to the other. They had a daughter who looked like she had Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Of course a cop walked in on me w/in 30 mins. He was nice though. Said the prop was going to be torn down for a mansion. And it was. Sometimes I wonder if abandon places had evil things happen and God said - ok- enough.
Watching these abandoned majestic structures on YT, we always wonder what happened to inhabitants and/or why family members seemingly forgot about their existence. My assumption is that these huge chateaus/mansions from the past are just too costly to keep up today. Very likely in need of repairs when last person(s) left. Still very sad!
But why leave behind the museum pieces to rot,go mouldy why not save if cant building cost wise too much, oh its sad sèe antiquities left rot &why vandals have to destroy art, incredible place though colours choices make it rooms darked back in time trend but whats wrong with govt.s&towns allow be damaged when tourist would love nothing better than have opportune go back in time.
Very interesting structure...and lots of the old tech still evident. Plenty of fleur de lys on the "fireplaces" also interesting...Intrigued as to the water source running hereunder/around the property. Someone knows what happened to the people who occupied this building, I'm sure, and all those children in the photos...many, and their offspring, must still be alive. And those lovely old horses, wow!! But someone must be attending to them, maintaining their feet if nothing else. Thanks guys xxx
@@annaassk7138 Yes that is baffling but some people who live comfortably on their own existence may not see the need or the importance to save such relished treasures. Others may feel they just do not have the time. Here in the states, a neighbor on the street passed and lived in three bedroom. The daughter lives in California (I'm in Tennessee), left that home and its contents to rot after her mom passed...vines coming in, roof leaked and bugs galore. But there was so much beautiful things. I finally asked her if they were ever going to get some of their antiques out and she said she did not have the time or the need to save that stuff and told me to get whatever I wanted and I did! The city eventually tore the home down.
Wow, this is truly a magical and magnificent place. This is one of those places ya hate to see roting away. Was horrible to see that people were/are leaving their excrement in the places they did/were, it's so very disturbing. Hell at least go dig hole in the trees and go if ya can't hold it. The rooms are so beautiful, the rooms tucked away upstairs would be wonderful if fixed up. The views are extraordinary from these rooms. If I could would love to just walk in there with the bats, walk them out. Love the kitchen, would be wonderful to have it fixed and usable. The stove was awesome. And all the space to store ones canning. Those jars that are there are to old by todays standards for food canning but properly cleaned out, could still use to store dry herbs, spices and many other things. The horses you found at the end were beautiful and so gentle. Thank you Jess for petting them.😊🥰😊. Would love to have that green house attached to my house.
A fabulous grand chateau! I’m amazed by its beauty. Why did the family leave this majestic place? It’s heartbreaking to see all the photos and personal effects just left behind. All the fireplaces are so magnificent, I’m sure this place was impressive back in its day. What a brilliant explore!!! I loved your air B and B, it’s like something from a fairytale! So gorgeous. I throughly enjoyed this episode, thank you so much Sam and Jess! Xx
I love the way you guys interact with each other, you really seem to be meant together! Finding out you went to school together was so nice. God bless you both. The Chateaux was amazing, l can imagine fine ladies and gents dressed in their finery through the ages, with loads of servants busseling about looking after the huge family. Am guessing there must have been beautiful stables back in the day. Those gorgeous white horses were a great way to finish the explore. Also that greenhouse must have been beautiful in it's day.
beautiful explore! I love the way you take your time with the objects as well. The photos in the album at around 32 minutes in, look like Cabinet Cards (the older ones) - which became popular in the 1880s, but the method was still used up until around 1920. From the style of dress, most of those photos are from the 1800s. It does break my heart to see the abandoned /forgotten photos. Those are memories that will be lost one day forever. That stash of glass negatives I gasped - those are very rare to survive. Why do the families not at least rescue them?
OMG, I hope it's okay if I point out things I see, like the beautiful orb when Jess is playing the piano. Start watching at 18:21, on the left side of the screen above the piano, it floats above moving from right to left.
Oh my those photos and big Negatives need to be preserved for history how is it possible they were left behind can they be given to the museum or Art gallery somehow. The Archives it's got to be saved I am blown away at this how incredible experience but sad to see so much historical and valuable stuff decaying. I wonder why people leave and not take there photos that's the first thing I would gather and take.
I have to say that I love and appreciate that you both take the time to do a small gesture like putting things back where they belong. Reset a framed photo on a table. I for one appreciate it tremendously. The horses were such an amazing ending to an amazing explore. Thank you guys🕉
Yeah, those things do NOT belong there, but in the house of someone who actually respects history! Those unthankful bastards who inherited that place deserve to be left without it and everything in it. It's disgusting to see how history is left to die
Y’all always do such a wonderful job! What a beautiful place. Great job as usual! I was thinking as you guys were going through the photograph book “what a shame that people would pack up paintings and not take their family photos with them. I understand not being able to keep a Chateau or having a place to store the furniture even… but the photos… makes me wonder if I’m wasting my time taking photographs. Y’all take care Cheers from Sugarland Texas 🇺🇸
Photographs are always lovely to look back at in my opinion! It’s very sad no one is there to claim these 🥺 So many possibilities though. Pleasure to have you watching, all the best 🙏🏼
I feel the same. Why would people leave the current photos? Maybe they didn't know who the older photos were but the baby pictures? They don't take up much space.
Incredible place! What an explore! The old photos in the album were earlier probably 1880 to 1900, glass negatives used to be in cameras loaded into a wooden carrier with metal plates called 'dark slides' they weren't at first as sensative as modren film so the exposure times on early glass negatives were very long. Loved this one! Stay safe out there!
Those glass photos are awesome. They have to be saved. I can't take it.. I want to go with you guys.. I did go in one abandoned mansion. It was amazing.. we looked at mostly everything. We locked up the windows and locked the front door then since the kitchen was so destroyed we were pushing stuff till I got out no one goes inside. Since they are people living on both sides of the mansion.

hey Sam & Jess, just a side note for you, at around the 40 minute mark you showed some glass slides. I love seeing these but please give me an employer who knows something about history, architecture and the actual function of the rooms, furniture and items. It’s super frustrating to have dialogue of people who know nothing about the properties, the times and people who lived in these places. ❤
Beautiful fire paces. Your face was a picture re-phoo box it certainly made me chuckle some. Lots of pieces that need quickly saving. Such a shame it has been left like so many to decay!
Beautiful estate. It’s so sad that they’ve abandoned their family treasures, especially the portraits. But leaving the horses is just plain cruel. Horses love and rely on their owners. I hope you reported this so someone will take care of them.

Wow beautiful I loved this from start to finish it was like a fairytale you can just imagine what all the outside looked like before it was over grown and these beautiful horses just roaming free hopefully people take fruit and carrots to them thanks guys 🤭👍🏻
What is so amazing to me is that antique dealers haven't taken any of the items from these homes to sell. I imagine they could make a lot of money. China and glassware seem to be in excellent condition.
What a beautiful castle, especially from the outside and if you hadn’t found actual crap in unexpected places and it hadn’t been trashed by others, the inside was great too… loved the fireplaces. The horses were a nice touch at the end. It's nice to see Steve hanging out with y'all. Shame on those who did the damages inside the house. Peace ☮️ and love ♥️ to all.
This house was built in 1863 on top of a much older house. There are rumors of underground passages beneath the house. This area was originally established way back in 959, but this property was most recently owned by the du Croc family.
Thank you for taking us to such a beautiful location. So many unanswered questions. It must’ve been an amazing place to live at one time with all of its grandeur.
Hi kids! Just for education's sake, the glass plate negatives would have been from the 1850s to the 1920s... the other photo album that you said was 20.s or 30.s was also the late 1800s. I really love watching, but I realize as I watch, how much information is lost as the generations progress... The things you try to figure out as you walk through and see artifacts, always make me want to educate. 💖🦊
What a beautiful place! You could actually scan those photographic plates, which are negatives, and use a graphics program to make them into normal photos. Back in the day, those would be loaded into a small projector, and projected onto photographic paper to make a print. Amazing looking collection. It's good that you two closed up the boxes they were in. Those likely dated back to around the late 1800s, to early 1900s. Sad, about the mold taking over some of the rooms. I think I'll try and replicate this in Minecraft. Would be cool to find floor plans. Thanks for sharing this. :)

Can't wait to see this one guys looks like another banger, have a safe trip in Portugal look forward to u doing a live take care and hopefully see u in the premier later xx , 👍💖🤘
Thanks for this intriguing video. Such a beautiful old place. I wish all those incredible old mansions could be restored and get much needed TLC 🙏❤. It's heartbreaking to see them rot away. I would love to live in one. Keep up the awesome work!
Absolutely stunning explore Sam and Jess! Loved the horses so beautiful! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Magnificent palace. Thank you. I loved the horses. Hope someone saves those fireplaces. They were very special.
Thank you for sharing your experience with me ❤❤🌲
Thank you so much for your donation! Glad you enjoy our videos, good to have you watching 🥰🙏🏼❤️
Those beautiful horses at the end was like a fairy tale!!!
That was soo good!! ❣So much to see in one place. I definitely will watch this again and saved it. Beautiful, just like you two! 💕
Omg this castle was extraordinary the cinematography music and the your voice telling the history is amazing Sam. Such a shame all that beauty was left abandoned thank you both for another fantastic explore 🫶🏼❤️
Thank you so much Tina 🥰🥰 That means a lot ❤️
Someone is taking care of those horses. They have no fear of people. Wild horse will let you know real quick. They are beautiful.
Great explore Sam and Jess, that castle is awesome especially those tapestry dining chairs
If Walls could talk.... So tragic this has been left like that. I can feel the history inside. Thank you showing us❤
I must say that this intro is perfect. Absolutely amazing, everything is perfect filmt.
Hands Down
I love seeing these but please give me an employer who knows something about history, architecture and the actual function of the rooms, furniture and items.
Love your travels! I will continue to follow along with your adventures. Peace and light
Furniture is worth a fortune in itself, such a magnificent home
Beautiful estate. It’s so sad that they’ve abandoned their family treasures, especially the portraits. But leaving the horses is just plain cruel. Horses love and rely on their owners. I hope you reported this so someone will take care of them.
I’m pretty heartbroken about the horses too. So heartless, I hope they get help soon.
I totally agree about the horses.
Yes, the horses are starving and in need of vet care.
Sometimes I think about just moving into one of these abandoned homes and spending my life repairing and maintaining them.
Glass plate negatives were used 1850-1920, very cool
Saw the TikTok with the Greys. Awwww am in love. The horses are gorgeous
Increíble recorrido, increíble lugar. El álbum de fotos fácilmente puede ser de las décadas de 1880-1890.
What an incredible place. Thanks for taking us with you! Not even driving, so I love to go exploring with you guys!I hate to see the silly things people do, like shooting paintings with a pellet gun! Thanks again, and much love and blessings to you all👌🙏❤
Wow!!! What a gorgeous magical mystical place! It really did have that fairytale castle vibe and theme to it.
A FANTASTIC PHENOMENAL exploration! You guys never cease to amaze with these amazing places !!!
I loved this exploration! Keep up the great work guys!!🥰💖💖💖💖
So glad you enjoyed it 🥰 This place was magic! Great to have you watching 🙏🏼❤️
As a finish carpenter I don’t know if I would be able to get all the woodworking done in my lifetime it’s incredible for the day in which it was made oh my ❤
Wow beautiful I loved this from start to finish it was like a fairytale you can just imagine what all the outside looked like before it was over grown and these beautiful horses just roaming free hopefully people take fruit and carrots to them thanks guys 🤭👍🏻
However, the very best thing were the white horses, just magical, I wish there was someone looking out for them. Great video guys as always 🥰🥰🥰
Ok so I’ve seen a lot of Châteaus, mansions, and castles and this may b a fave by far … this was amazing
So glad you enjoyed it! 😀 Thank you for watching 🙏🏼

Cor Steve you get about don't you. Love you really and can't wait for you to come back to the uk xx
The photos to me remind me of my husbands grandma's photos. Late 1800s to very early 1900s
Another great video, thank you for sharing
Absolutely one of my favorite explores!!! It's a shame so much history is abandoned. At least there are fantastic explorers like you all to document these beautiful places. Thank you!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wow so glad you enjoyed this Melodie 🥰 It is amazing to be documenting them. Pleasure to have you watching 🙏🏼❤️
Wow that was very interesting to watch nice castle and beautiful white horses..
What a beautiful castle 🏰. I really liked all of the antiques and old pictures 📸. I loved seeing the horses 🐎 at the end. Stay safe 👌 👍 🙏 ❤ 💓 💙
It takes an old soul to be able to appreciate the past. Young people who are modern would never see the beauty of a time gone by. Thanks for sharing this adventure 😊
Elegance at its highest in it's day lovely guys
The craftsmanship of everything is amazing 😮❤🌲
Ahhhh. Bach : Cello Suite No.1 in G major., Prelude. So sublime. Wow. Love this video so much one second in.

The horses were a nice touch at the end. It's nice to see Steve hanging out with y'all. Shame on those who did the damages inside the house.
Peace ☮️ and love ♥️ to all.
I thought I recognized him.(Steve Ronin) right?
@@joybrackin2460 Yes

Absolutely amazing video, a pleasure to watch, the horses seemed healthy to me.
Loved the adventure very majestic must have been beautiful in it's day.the land the birds singing how serene 👣🌞
This house was built in 1863 on top of a much older house. There are rumors of underground passages beneath the house. This area was originally established way back in 959, but this property was most recently owned by the du Croc family.
Wow !!!! the video was like a journey through time capsule ....i love it ..thank u guys
Fabulous explore!! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it Darrell 🥰🙏🏼
Thank you for taking us to such a beautiful location. So many unanswered questions. It must’ve been an amazing place to live at one time with all of its grandeur.
This castle would make a lovely hotel because it so big also great video guys.
Absolutely Amazing!!! How do you keep finding these wonderful abandoned homes! I Love Your Channel!!! From Susan in Michigan USA ♥️
39:54 those look like magic lantern slides. the lanterns were basically primitive projectors that would project the image onto a wall or screen.
The bats love those cool small spaces the wine previously held!
If you look at the footage when jess plays the piano, an orb floats past on the left hand side of the screen, spooky 👻
Spooky stuff!!! Had some weird stuff filming Karls video too! What a place
Another epic explore you guys are killing it
Appreciate that man glad to have you watching 😀
Really beautiful the horses just made the finishing touch. Awesome work 👏🏻
Amazing thanks guys for showing us around these places
