  • I install the Black Series forged aluminium wheel spacers with matching wheel nuts from SiCo Developments!
    LIMITED TIME ONLY - GET 15% USING CODE 'AR12MM'
    www.sico-devel...
    My MK3 Focus RS getting treated to a full set of SD Wheel Spacers, which can improve the handling and the looks of your car. Manufactured from forged billet aluminium, the SiCo wheel spacers move the wheels outward for a wider, more aggressive stance. SD wheel spacers are compatible with both original and aftermarket wheels and are hub-centric for a perfect fit.
    The major selling point for me from above is that they are compatible with the standard Focus RS wheels which have only small pits/spaces on the rear of the wheel so traditional style spacers that bolt on with separate nuts and then provide replacement studs, would not work without chopping the ends off the original studs or getting very wide spacers - this is obviously not an ideal thing to have to do and is where these innovative wheel spacers come into play!
    The Sico Development spacers work by only needing to utilise the original studs by coming with and using special elongated nuts that extend through the wheel. This means that they are able to have full thread engagement despite being spaced from the hub so eliminates entirely the need for the puts/spaces on the rear of the wheel, thus making them work with just about any wheel out that you may have on your car!
    Another feature that is super cool is that they accommodate for multiple bolt patterns - 4x108 or 5x108 so will work Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo and more from the Ford range!
    The fact that the nuts are provided makes this a good value set up and the nuts are also all locking and come in a choice of 2 colours - black or silver!
    These are developed in house by SiCo Developments and can be purchased here:
    www.sico-devel...
    Here is what Si Cole from Sico Developments says about them:
    Offered in the specific Fiesta ST Wheel Pattern, centre bore and Stud type.
    High strength, forged lightweight aluminium
    -Precision CNC machined
    -Hard anodised for improved surface hardness and corrosion resistance
    -Can be used with standard or aftermarket wheels
    -Compatible with standard or aftermarket sport suspension
    -Large range available to suit most makes & models, and offset requirements
    This kit fits all 4x108 and 5x108 fords including Fiestas, Focus' and Mondeo's.
    It comes with elongated nuts available in either black or polished.
    Also, since this area is right next to the ground, it will be subjected to the weather elements as well as brake dust, dirt, stones and general road grime so in order to protect that lovely anodised black finish, I ceramic coat the Sico Developments wheel spacers with Carbon Collective Platinum Wheels. This is a high quality ceramic coating that provides a high level of hardness and durability while also being heat resistant and should provide good protection for a long time!
    I show the ceramic coating process which I complete a few hours ahead of completing the SiCo Developments Black Series Forged aluminium wheel spacer and matching black locking nuts installation process!

    Ive not even picked my RS up yet but I'll definitely be fitting these soon afterwards as i dont like the ones with the bolts cast into the spacer even if they are hubcentric. The longer threaded wheelnuts are a much better design imo.......... Also these are a perfect thickness, its a sleek hot hatch not a Tonka toy 🤣🤣

    The only hesitation i have about these for my rs is that nothing is actually holding the spacer in place when the wheel is off the car. I mostly just don't trust that a tech will care to check the spacers don't fall off while changing my tires

    Hiya mate, I'm really pleased to read this as I've just had the same issue, whereby I went to a garage to get eibach springs and spacers on my mk3.5 focus st that has these RS wheels, springs went on fine but they said the studs were too long so couldn't fit the spacers then and there, it seems that these might do the job! I wonder if you or the manufacture know if this would be as straight forward with their 20mm spacers? Cheers

  • @stanelder9995
    @stanelder9995 4 роки тому +1

    Just ordered a set of these for my ST with your discount code. I was torn between the 12mm and the 5mm, as I don't want too much of the "wide boy" look lol. Your discount at least partially offset the 50 UK Pounds to ship to the US.......eek

    • @AdamRainey
      @AdamRainey  4 роки тому +1

      Dang that is a fair bit for postage but we get hit with the same getting stuff from the USA of course. I think 5mm isn't enough to make a difference and 12mm is a sweet spot to avoid the wide boy thing! Cheers 😊

    • @stanelder9995
      @stanelder9995 4 роки тому +1

      @@AdamRainey I think you are right judging by the result on your car. I think they offer the 5mm because that's the minimum needed to allow the Brembo brakes to clear the ST "snowflake" wheels (when doing a brake upgrade). 20mm and higher is definitely too much - in my opinion anyway

    Great video once again Adam, I’ve been thinking of going for spacers myself & fitting black wheel nuts, could be a case of killing two birds with one stone here ! Do you think it’s worth having the steering geometry checked after the install ? Or would it really be necessary!? , I’ve not long had mine done after fitting mountune springs ...get those mudflaps fitted ...wider track = potential for more stone damage to panels 🤔

    Sorry Adam, had to pause the video half way through, and have a look online, about the debate about copper grease used on threads and mating surfaces,,..
    I'm even more confused now,, lol,,, some say coppagrease everything, and some say leave everything dry ????
    PS,, nice look tho ',,,,,
    Cheers,, John..
    pps,, I think you 100% have to tell your insurance company, about spacers tho'....

    • @AdamRainey
      @AdamRainey  4 роки тому +1

      All you need to know is that I am correct! You want to copper grease the mating surface to stop them sticking together - imagine you don't remove your wheels for a year and then you remove the nuts but the wheel doesn't come loose - you would have to give it force to break free which copper grease will stop. Getting it on the threads, however, will change the theoretical torque value so you may think you are torqued correctly but actually not so much which can be dangerous potentially

      @John..18 4 роки тому

      @@AdamRainey
      Yep, I've had wheels stuck so completely in the past, that I had to loosen the nuts and drive round the block bumping the kerbs, to free the wheels,, lol,,,

    • @stevenprice4339
      @stevenprice4339 4 роки тому +2

      I am a technician for a dealership and you can actually use a small amount of copper grease on the studs but if you put too much on then the wheel nuts don’t torque down correctly

    • @Spicymuffin
      @Spicymuffin 4 роки тому

      In theory the grease would also assist with heat dissipation by increasing thermal transfer.
      Surely this is a good thing.

    • @MrPaulsim
      @MrPaulsim 4 роки тому

      If you copper grease the threads, you'd have to reduce the torque setting to account for the lubrication effect of the anti seize.

    Great video Adam. Do you know of anyone running these on Fiesta ST180 ? And will 12 mm be enough of a difference with stock wheel with Eibach 20mm drop?

    • @AdamRainey
      @AdamRainey  4 роки тому +1

      I know that Si Cole has sold them to Fiesta users and has sold out of them! I think 12mm is a good amount to notice the difference without it being too much, especially if you are lowered because if you space too much with being lowered then you run the risk of rubbing the edge of the wheel arch. Cheers :)

    I fitted a pair of these to my mk8 ST last week. I torqued the first two nuts to factory spec (135nm) and the nuts sheared cracked and split. They are very poor quality plated steel, not stainless, at least the polished nuts are. There was no information that suggests what torque to use.
