Waterpump part two 😊
I just watched the bleeding the coolant issue. Now with more history . I think you just have a big air bubble. The F430 system is a little difficult to bleed. I came up with this method and it works 100% of the time for me. If the system is fully drained you will be able to get 16 litres in using this method. Then after the car has run you can get 1.5 or so more litres in. COLD ENGINE, CAR NOT RUNNING
1) take the vacuum pump thing and leave it in the drawer.
2) on the passenger, left, side( right hand drive car). Driver side in North America, remove that small hose from the top of the radiator that you previously tried.
3) plug or just cover the rubber hose with your finger.
4) have some slowly pour in the coolant until it starts to come out of the small tube on the radiator.
5) slip the rubber hose back over the tube on the radiator and tighten the clamp.
6) pour more coolant in the tank until it is about an inch and half from the top of the radiator fill.
7) put the radiator cap back on and run the engine until it warms up. The fans, first drivers side, then passenger side will run.
8) turn the car off.
9) RESIST THE URGE TO OPEN THE RAD CAP. You’ve seen what happens.
10) have a celebratory beverage while the engine cools down completely.
11) now open the rad cap. You will be able to put in more coolant. About a litre and a 1/2 up to about an inch and a half from the top of the fill hole.
12) put the rad cap back on and warm up the engine.
13) check for fans again.
14) turn car off and RESIST THE URGE TO OPEN THE RAD CAP.
15) after the car cools check level again.
That’s it.
Your mileage may vary, constantly check for leaks, put a new thermostat in so the engine runs correctly. If you don’t the engine will get too cool while driving on the highway.

I absolutely love Matts UA-cam content. By far the most interesting down to earth people on the Internet. I loved the bit on the airplane about keeping the toiletry bag. He said most people do not keep them but they are regular blokes so they are taking them. That sentence alone is why he is becoming so popular. He is an example of a regular bloke that made something by being determined and working hard. I have never had to skip or fast forward in any of his videos.

Matt... Splice in an out feed from the water pump with a T coupling in it. Hook one end back into the system and on the tail of the T attach a suitable pressure gauge... That way you can run a closed system AND see the out feed pressure from the pump... = )
and if you can work out how to power it up correctly.... just power the water pump only

Just put a stethoscope on the pump and listen for the pump whine. Smarter not harder.

For the water pump. There are 3 weep holes on the pump itself. Two will leak antifreeze if the water pump seals have failed. One will leak engine oil if that seal has failed. If there is a mix of liquids out of all three, the seals have really failed. The water oil pump are on the same shaft and are driven by a chain driven gear inside the engine. If you have oil pressure you will have water circulation ( probably) . If you remove the coolant tank cap you might be able to notice the coolant moving when the engine is running. You should be able to feel the hoses under the car getting warm as the engine warms. Turn the heater on inside the car. If you get heat in the car and no leaks on the weep holes, the pump is good. It is the thermostat stuck closed. If the heat stops at the thermostat housings and does not heat the tubes under the car, thermostat failure is confirmed. Easy job don’t forget to get the gasket for the new thermostat. If you decide to change the water/oil pump assembly. Let’s setup a call if you like. Too much for texting. I made special tools so I could change mine, twice. Frustrating story. Cheers

Hi Matt. Right Ferrari water pump situation. Have u tried putting a pressure tester on the expansion bottle. Put some pressure in it. Once that’s fine start the car up and give it a few blips of the throttle to see if the needle fluctuates. If it doesn’t then the water pump is faulty

I’ve never really been into car mechanics but somehow I gravitate towards your channel, just a testament to the charisma you show on video. matt one of the things you can try is letting the engine run for a bit and see if the heater works, if the heater in the car works the water should be flowing to the front so the waterpomp should be working.

When it comes to the water pump, they generally have something call a "tell tale" hole which will leak coolant when the bearings in the pump become worn, but seeing as it's a Ferrari and I work on Scania trucks it's probably zero help at all 😂 hope it helps anyway!

About the heating problem. You can mount a clear hose of some kind, just to see if there is air in the system or if there is flow. Then if there is no air and still get heating problems it must be the thermostat or the pump I think. Good luck with the build...

Just came back from Dubai on a business trip. They upgraded my first leg with Emirates, on a flight from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur, from Business to First Class. OMG! The FC lounge had its own shopping mall with personal concierge. Caviar and Dom Perignon...customised menus...incredible.

I worked at the F1 a few years ago at Abu Dhabi, best few days ever. I was one of the marshals at pit 2 for the other races.

Attach a clear hose between the water pump and the current hose and add a piece of thread/string or similar on the inside (held in place with what ever clamp used to attach the hose), should be able to see if you got flow in the system that way. Might exist better premade solutions than a thread/string but you get the idea.

It you like to check the water pump maybe you could add an extra expansiontank that is clear and have long hoses then raise it up.
Then you will see the flow.
I did this when i wanted to see if my heat Exchanger in the parkingheater had a crack in it.
So i put the extra expansiontank from the parking heater out and out of the expansiontank to the heat Exchanger in the car.
With this solution you can run the car.
Other solution as you say, remove a hose and start it 😅.

For testing the water pump, not totally sure if it’ll work with the setup in the Ferrari but if you put a pressure tester on(with a gauge on it) and pump it to 0.5 bar, start the engine you should see the pressure ever so slightly drop as it creates vacuum then Rev the engine you should see the gauge fluctuate, the more it fluctuates the better, if it doesn’t move at’ll then pump is goosed 👍
I flew Emirates...San Francisco to Dubai. 15:30 hours. But economy :). Still pretty good. If only!! Love your content man...keep it up.
