Little Bot is a really cool and a touching story. Kids who read it will like the story now but will really appreciate its meaning later in life. And oh, Thanks for the Virtual Book Reading ^_^
Thanks for showing a bit of your live drawing in front of the kids! Was curious how those would go, and they looked like they were having a grand time. :D
Welcome to Oregon! Powell's is (Or used to be, not sure if a bigger one exists elsewhere) the largest bookstore in the world. I'm sad that I missed out on going to the signing.
Maybe this is something you could answer in a video... how does one set up these promotional events? Does the publisher set it up? Or do you? Do you find stores that are carrying your book and then offer to do a visit? Do you call random schools? Does the publisher let you know where your book is being carried so you know where to visit? Thanks in advance! Keep up the great work!
I just started to watch the video buy I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I can already see your excitement and your sense of achievement!!! :D :D :D EDIT: NICE VLOG!!!! It's already better than 90% of the vlogs out there. It's super cool to see a first person view of something like a book tour.
I actually just visited Portland 2 weeks ago with my fiance and Powell Bookstore is huge! I got excited when I saw your book and added to my basket which was getting kinda heavy. I decided to buy a bunch of books to share with my little bro, niece and nephew. I always loved stories with great illustrations to compliment the narrative and wanted to share that feeling with them. Keep creating and inspiring others!
Such an inspiration. Love the drawing game!! That may be one of the hugest influences on my life and decision to pursue art! My Dad would always do that with me and I have some of those early frankencreatures engraved in my head. I remember thinking "Holy cockadoodle! My Dad can draw!? That's so cool! I wanna be able to draw that good!" ... I can imagine the inspiration you created in those kids! Awesome work and congrats on the book release Mr. Jake Parker!
hey Jake Parker! let me tell you that I'm doing this children's book too and although I am not a author I'm still working as a illustrator! thanks to your tips that helped me draw a lot and improve a lot. but let me tell you that although this book that I'm working on has not been published yet I want you to come to New York Roosevelt Island one day and see my illustrations! As always keep up the great work Jake Parker~ Makoto Sekai
Jake that's such a wonderful video. Congratulations on your first book as the author and illustrator. You are the person that has pushed me to work harder to improve over the last few years. You said in a previous video that if we want to improve we should not only start a project but aim for something tangible at the end of it. I'm self publishing my own book as a result. I would never have dared to try without you to inspire me through your videos. Thank you! Will the book launch in the U.K. too?
Coincidentally, watching this video while I happen to be wearing a Powell's Books t-shirt today (the one with books flying out of the bicycle basket). Congrats! Truly enjoying your videos and SVS videos too.
Hey Jake. I just completed my first year of Inktober. It was such a fulfilling challenge so I just wanted to say thank you. Who knows maybe in a few years I will write a book too. Best of luck with it. Keep inspiring us all :)
Congrats! Wow I didn't realize that you were just in Portland, my city. It's so weird seeing one of my favorite artists walking through Powell's, a place I've been so often. Hope you had a great time in Portland :D
If you haven't already, could you make a video in regards to finding and dealing with publishers? Or self publishing? Would love to hear what you have to say about it.
Congratulations! Doesn't Portland have a treehouse hotel? Hope you get to stay there next time. Also: Omg I need go that huge bookstore and get lost #DreamComeTrue 😸
I Jake I my name's Cole and I was wondering how long did it take you to build up the confidence to start a you tube Art channel? I'm new to this one, and I would Like to know how a creature designer like myself can get noticed?
I have a Question do you have sometimes back pain and are your shoulders stiff? Because i have that problem any adwise on that? Can you recommend some chairs ore other things? I,m sitting from 8 am trough 16 pm on a small little chair (School Chairs). Should i consider to buy a easel when i,m at home ore standing table? I,m a tall person by the way.
Jake... I need a Children's book illustrator, as I want to self publish on Amazon...but I have no idea about what someone like yourself would charge or how to go about it. I don't do any social media except for You Tube. Are you available for a project in a few months? If we can email that would be helpful. Thanks
Hi Jake, I'm Pierre-Alexis Bouquin (aka thelastthunder56 on DeviantArt and Instagram) and I would like to do an interview with you. This should take less than an hour to do and it's on skype. This interview is for a project I want to realise and the subject is the artistic world. I really admire you for what you do and I did the Inktober Challenge this month. Hope you'll say YES!
