I'm a 19 years old manga artist and I live with my parents,we have a small house so I have to share a bedroom with two siblings.Because of that,it was impossible for me to find a personal space to draw.Instead I have a "portable studio" I have all of my drawing supplies,paper...etc inside a suitcase that I carry.I kinda got used to it. Soon enough,I will hopefully have enough money to afford a small van,and I think it would be a great idea to turn it into a mobile studio
@Kesh Hey kesh. you liked some of my drawings on instagram. but i dont think you have seen my latest post IT IS A DRAWING OF YOu!!!!! could you plz have a look at it and give some tips??? @semdemoen
Hello Mr Jake Parker, I'm 13 and make my own mini comics, I have a bunk bed and keep my studio under it, and use a tilt desk so my neck doesn't get soar, I keep a stack of my favorite comics on one desk along with sleeves and art tools, and on a smaller desk next to my tilted surface, I keep my pens and paper for close reach. And I also keep my headphones near by so I can listen to your videos while I draw my comics! Thank you for the tour and all the inspiration you create, I hope you enjoy your new studio and make plenty of good memory's in it! Grail.
IM YOU FROM THE FUTURE LISTEN TO ME.... dont get no1 pregnant in highschool dont drop outof highschool and work at burgerking to pay for childsupport dont listen to youre parents n family telling you that theres no money in art..dont let the girls distract you from your art time..dont get mad and crazy and throw away all youre artbooks and supplies in the trash when you youre pissed of at youre family always mad at you spending too much time drawing and open the door to yell at you and make you spill the paint all over youre 1st poster painting that you worked so hard on when ur 15😢😔.....dont quit and draw everything everyday...if u dont ur future will be HELL......
I've been burning through all of Jake's videos lately and I'm loving every second of it so I figured now would be as good a time as ever to jump into the comments. So, hello everyone! I hope this community is as awesome as Jake makes it sounds.
Glad to know I'm not the only messy one! Most studio tours on UA-cam are all neat clean and organized. I like that you don't hide the "real" way that you work. Very inspirational thanks for sharing!
Your studio is so awesome and full of creativeness! :D My husband is an engineer and I'm an artist, we both have a desk for ourselves where we work on, in the same room. I really love that, because now I don't have to be lonely when either he or I are working. ^^
My parents graciously moved furniture around to give me a little corner of the house during art school...still there now (graduated in April) working on kickstarting my illustration career. It's a nice set up and I try to stay organized but it's getting more and more cramped. I'm so looking forward to the different spaces I'll be creating in and hoping to have a great studio one day. Thank you Jake Parker for your amazing videos. You inspire me all the time and I try to live by your "finished not perfect" mantra every day! Congrats on the new studio!!
so grateful for this video. no one understands the need to work from home raise kids then move to a studio. they think i should just get a studio. but it takes time, steady income and client's first. my space, organization and need to collect things that inspire me are very similar to yours. I am currently transferring my living room into a studio. and moving out of my bedroom. like you my art has spilled over into the rest if the house. I had as many books as you and got rid of them to make more space. I love you art, videos and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your workspace. Seeing other artists’ studios is somehow really good for strengthening that sense of community with others in our field. It’s kind of just like the art itself. We all have our different studios, but we all use them to produce art. There’s a comfort in that. My studio is my bedroom. I’ve been putting it all together for several months. I recently bought an adjustable art stand thing and a storage space for my books. I love working at a proper desk now, and I’m sure my back will, too. The whole space is far from finished, but with virtually all the important art-related parts installed, I’d say the studio is basically finished. I am looking forward to having enough of my own (suitable) art to decorate my studio with, though.
Hi! Mr. Jake Parker, I'm a huge fan of yours and really like where you do all those comics, drawings, illustrations. I am 9 years old and I also draw things like you do. You inspired me to go to a higher level in drawing. It's a bit sad that you are leaving the studio where you have done so much things and have lots of memories.
Great to see your studio and see all the books.I am also a Bone and Calvin & Hobbes fan. I used to have work in a studio, but I am now back working from home again. Good luck with reorganising all your stuff and moving, that can be quiet cumbersome!
My "studio" is half of my bedroom. Its an L shaped desk for corner use and then I have an Ikea Alex cabinet and cube bookcase for storage. While im a messy person, I don't like owning alot of stuff, so its fairly sparse whenever I clean it up i.e not many books and only the supplies I need. Im glad you hold on to childhood toys thou! I have a stuffed toy dog i've had for 27 years
Why, I don't know but I really think this video is so personal and honest. I have watched many studio tours until now but this is the first time I didn't skip parts. Your personality seems so friendly, honest and great! With all the stuff and even mess seems uniq, has a soul and special. I will move on to your videos and art work. Thanks for sharing.
I currently make art in my bedroom. I have a drafting table with a PC on topof it, a Wacom Intuos, a scanner, and an Artograph light box. My table has drawers in which I store pencils, pens, Sharpies, and other such things. I have art books on my closet. Someday, I hope to get a bigger space so I can get a proper computer desk and use my drafting table for its real purpose.
Its funny that you mention having worked at the kitchen table for a while because that's my current 'creating space' until I move out later this year. I'm eager to have my own space for creating, having to clean up every time i leave the space breaks my flow sometimes! Thanks so much for sharing your space!!
Awesome! My studio is currently most of my bedroom. Ikea furniture full of paper and paints. I have a desk that is covered with water jars and brushes, and a white board for reminders and project stuff.
I laughed so hard when you said you started at the kitchen table. I just moved into a new place, and so that's where my studio is. But I am also building a space in the guest room, got some great organizers too. Enjoy your new space! I loved seeing your childhood things too. I still have my first sketchbook. ☺
Rocky got married to Rocky 2 and they had a baby, Rocky 3. 😂 That's an illustrated book I'd like to read. Thanks for the studio tour! Love your book collection too.
This was an awesome choice for a new video Jake. I am glad to see that I am not the only person who has a junky studio at times. You even showed us your junk drawer, or two! Also congrats on getting your studio space, I'm a bit jealous of you, but that means you are growing! Excellent work man!
I draw on different desks in my office depending on the time of day and the location of the sun. It's to keep the shadow of my hand out of my way. Thanks for the inspiration Jake! :)
I have a space set up in our conservatory but now we're heading into Autumn, it gets pretty cold to work in there so I just work where I feel comfortable. Our living room is where I keep most of my comics and art books so I often work there, our dining room also has book shelves where I keep the remainder of my art and ref books so I work from there also quite often. I'd love to eventually have a space similar to yours where you keep everything pretty close to hand, that's the dream space for me :D
Hey I had an idea for a video. When you are unpacking your stuff could you make a video on your books and why you like them. It doesn't have to be long like only the best books.
Good for you Jake. I'll be interested to know how the new office space effects your work habits. Also your efficiency as well as your ability to turn work on and off while your in and out of the office. You'll have to share your experience with us once you've been in the new space for a few months or so. Keep up the great work. Always love hearing from you.
Thanks for the great tour! (By the way, your mom knitted that sweet Tigger puppet. She did a great job. 😊). Good luck with the move. Wishing you many happy and productive years in your new space.
I don't have any specified space to draw. I do most of my drawings in my dining room, using whatever pens are nearby. I do whatever online drawings that I do on a Wacom Intuos pro and the Krita drawing and animation software. I've said this in the comments of your other videos, but you're very inspiring!
Aww man. I have to say I'm jealous of your whole setup. My studio is my bedroom right now. I have flat files in the living room and some of my art supplies are still in boxes in my closet from when I moved a year ago. I don't have a lot of space in my current place. I hope to move sometime next year where I can actually have a studio again.
Awesome video Jake! I love videos like this. I am also really excited for you and the rest of the SVS team getting a new space to work in. I can only expect more awesomeness. As for my workspace, it is quite limited. I live in a one bedroom apartment with one other person so space is limited and my desk is tiny. My monitor and tower take up most of my desk. I have a pull out under the desk where I keep my wacom tablet and I will also use this surface as my sketchbook and drawing spot too. My books and supplies have stations that are placed throughout the living and diningroom/kitchen in random spots. I also use the couch as my work area. Small space or not, it works for now. Haha My favorite thing about this space is that I get to sit and draw next to my deck window and watch the birds and squirrels. The goal in the future is to get a two bedroom to have my own office and invest in a very long sturdy desk so I can sprawl out all my papers and supplies onto. :)
Also as you were taping I saw a book peaking out called Art and Fear. I found this book randomly recently while perusing the book store. I am really excited to read more! :D
I'm so jealous of all that deskspace! I work on a Desk in my bedroom. I also keep my computer (+2 monitors and my intuos) on that table so I Need to clean up a lot sadly :/ one day I'll have a Creative-work-only desk I hope :)
Heyya Jake, nice old artsy studio (and shiny new toy room soon). I'm a fellow home artist, with similar things (graphite, inks, paints, puppet-making stuff, and more), including a guitar (which the amateur in me plays each morning), and a robust mac mini for mostly 2d animation and games and 3d animations (and future games (I hope). Me not as organized, but looking forward to never-ending fun woot!
come on jake, u inspired me to move every of my stuff to my home studio. now u telling me u will not working at home? anyways, thank u for everything jake. thank u
I have a desk in the corner of the guest bedroom. Well, it will be a desk in two days! It's been one of those folding plastic tables and it has a big dip in the center which drives me crazy when I use a watercolor palette on it because all the washes go to one side.... I'm really looking forward to having a flat workspace!
I have a giant clipboard as my desk and my computer is propped up on 1' by 1' table. My art supplies are stuck wherever there is room. So my charcoal is on a bookshelf, my paint is in the closet on the floor, and my drawing some if percariously piled everywhere.
great tour Jake... I want that art of Dofus book on your table. I'd tell you about my space but... well, you know. Good luck with the new studio space!
Hi, Jake! I really love your works! I'm an aspiring illustrator and aside from the strong line work in your illustrations, I also like your fuzzy children's book style. Would it be possible for you to create a video on how you achieve that fuzzy look? Thanks! I would really appreciate it.
Have you seen any old pictures of Ray Bradbury's office? Your space reminds me of his. I love that you have so many books as well. I love to paint, read, and write, so I am surrounded by bookshelves and trinkets from Star Wars, Doctor Who, and comic book characters. Must be an artist thing. :)
Cool, new studio tour. Just, have to mention your flat file cabinet reminds me of Toolbox either 26', 42' wide lower cabinet perhaps like a snap on or general. Some use a toolbox bottom for tattoo etc. My other interests besides art/music is automotive and do have a 26' toolbox in my bedroom because of tools, morph mutate (like John Carpenter's) the thing Grow legs and run away. lol Looks like you need more shelving for your books, craigslist Freebie section and the general section is a good place to look. People, let them go on the cheap.
oh my god. so good to see that i am not the only chaotic illustrator. my boyfriend tells me every single day, that i am terrible chaotic and that i have to clean up every single second... -.- now as a tribute to that i quit working as an illustrator bc I can't find my peace combining relationship and working :S
Your sons art is amazing xD I would love that master piece on my wall! Is that a Dofus book?! Wakfu is such a beautiful series~ After seeing all your room I must say thank God for digital art space AND YOUR NEW STUDIO!!! I hope it works out awesome for you and that you can create many more great stories and art there!!!
I'm a 19 years old manga artist and I live with my parents,we have a small house so I have to share a bedroom with two siblings.Because of that,it was impossible for me to find a personal space to draw.Instead I have a "portable studio" I have all of my drawing supplies,paper...etc

NateE501 hello 😊
So cool! I bet that new studio space is gonna be amazing! Can't wait to see more about it!
Yeah, hopefully we get a tour of the new studio too!
Glad to know I'm not the only messy one! Most studio tours on UA-cam are all neat clean and organized. I like that you don't hide the "real" way that you work. Very inspirational thanks for sharing!
That stick to your guns drawing made me laugh my ass off.
Dinkymod right!!

My childhood Raggedy Andy is always with me. As you know your messy office enhances your creativity :) Mine was a mess before my current moving boxes

Loved seeing your dad son fun times too
I love to watch people showing there studios off.
That is the best pencil sharpener ever created!!! I had one of those for my entire childhood and it was amazing...
Rockie 1,2,3 changed my life
Hey I had an idea for a video. When you are unpacking your stuff could you make a video on your books and why you like them. It doesn't have to be long like only the best books.

wooow!! you have more artbooks than a artbook library! i hope someone will help to move those to the new place. Congrats in the new studio!
Thanks for the great tour! (By the way, your mom knitted that sweet Tigger puppet. She did a great job. 😊). Good luck with the move. Wishing you many happy and productive years in your new space.

A messy studio is a productive studio! Nice tour. BTW I spied my sketchbook on your shelf! Glad you kept it around Jake!
OMG The Tigger...moms can really be the best!
I had that Knight Rider lunch box as a kid and was just talking about it the other day!
This makes me feel better about my own messy studio. Love seeing other Artist work space.

Hope to see updates on the new Parker Studio!

You should totally do a video series one day about your movie collection and how/why they inspire you.
Heyya Jake, nice old artsy studio (and shiny new toy room soon). So glad you did this video before you moved! Really cool insight!
Awesome studio Jake. I love the stick to your guns sketch.
One of the greatest home studios I've ever seen! Great work!!!
FINALLY!!!! :D Thanks Jake!
come on jake, u inspired me to move every of my stuff to my home studio. now u telling me u will not working at home? anyways, thank u for everything jake. thank u
+Munch Studio KL 👍you gotta do you!
I have a desk in the corner of the guest bedroom. Well, it will be a desk in two days! It's been one of those folding plastic tables and it has a big dip in the center which drives me crazy when I use a watercolor palette on it because all the washes go to one side.... I'm really looking forward to having a flat workspace!
i love the drawing your sun gave you
I have a giant clipboard as my desk and my computer is propped up on 1' by 1' table.
Congratulations!!! Much success to you!!!
I've been hoping for this video! Thank you! Maybe I'll do one for my FB page on my current setup before we move.
Thanks

Amazing I hope you will make video for new studio space tour 👏🏻
Cool video. Thanks for the tour.
Your book collection is goalssss
As messy as the room seems, it has such a warm feeling. Great space 👍🏽
Hi, Jake! I really love your works! I'm an aspiring illustrator and aside from the strong line work in your illustrations, I also like your fuzzy children's book style. Would it be possible for you to create a video on how you achieve that fuzzy look? Thanks! I would really appreciate it.
hope you do a tour of your new workspace soon :)
My art space is just a desk next to my bed with a nice window view ✨and where ever I find my inspiration actually ☺️😅
yesss this was great ive waited for this so long
Haha, Jake in a calm voice : this is my hat and its damaged from a Samari sword!!! Hahahaha
As if this were just an everyday event! Ha ha!
So many books!
I saw some Anthony Holden on your wall! Respect
Can you possibly list 100 best books out of your collection or 50 if easier. Because they look so good at something tells me I need them
Elliot Richardson ikr??
Have you seen any old pictures of Ray Bradbury's office? Your space reminds me of his. I love that you have so many books as well. I love to paint, read, and write, so I am surrounded by bookshelves and trinkets from Star Wars, Doctor Who, and comic book characters. Must be an artist thing. :)
I Love your Studio its so interesting.
Thanks for this and all ather Videos you be a great talent and inspiration for me😊👍.
Cool, new studio tour. Just, have to mention your flat file cabinet reminds me of Toolbox either 26', 42' wide lower cabinet perhaps like a snap on or general. Some use a toolbox bottom for tattoo etc.
My other interests besides art/music is automotive and do have a 26' toolbox in my bedroom because of tools, morph mutate (like John Carpenter's) the thing Grow legs and run away. lol
Looks like you need more shelving for your books, craigslist Freebie section and the general section is a good place to look. People, let them go on the cheap.
Perfect place for drawing...
It sounds like you been running a marathon you good man but awesome video might i add i love that book collection
Ps I love Missle Mouse and can't wait for Skyheart to come out!
oh my god. so good to see that i am not the only chaotic illustrator. my boyfriend tells me every single day, that i am terrible chaotic and that i have to clean up every single second... -.- now as a tribute to that i quit working as an illustrator bc I can't find my peace combining relationship and working :S
Awesome book collection! I actually have a lot of the same books (I'm sure a lot of us do, lol).
I love AVATAR as well! Great film!
Your sons art is amazing xD
I would love that master piece on my wall!
Is that a Dofus book?!
