How wild it is to see this. I live in London and when Urban Freeflow kicked off big time I was about 15-16 and HEAVY into Parkour. I used to look up to Paul and follow Urban Freeflow religiously when I was a teenager. I rewatched Jump Britan so often. Like people said he used to be a cool guy and I still have an Urban Freeflow t-shirt I won through a compition on their facebook back in the day. I knew they disbanded and that there was a lot of internal conflict around them but never knew the details. I knew about Flexdem too but the sexual assault stuff is wild. I wonder what happened to his wife and daughter? His crime is strange because I know he beat up a pedo that was trying to groom his 13-14 y/o daughter years ago. It's a shame Urban Freeflow crashed down so hard the way it did. As the video says they did some amazing things for the Parkour community. Back when they were big it was a different world. Anything seemed possible. Solid fucking video, mate. 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing with me Michael, DM me a pic of your UFF shirt on insta @jimmythegiantuk Sad to have seen it go so dark considering just how amazing what they built was

I’m not into parkour in any way so I don’t know anything about any of this stuff, but you explained it all so well that I didn’t feel like there was any part of the story I didn’t understand. The only name I recognized was Tim Shieff, who I know from his Ninja Warrior participation.

@@santi_super_stunts2573 I do gymnastics/tumbling and mini tramp. I try to do as much parkour as possible in my free time but I don't really have any way to do it in a more organized way
Jake Zimmer I mean what’s cool about parkour is there is no organization really. You don’t need a gym for parkour you can just go outside and do stuff. I’m assuming you know how to lache and bar kip and how to get on the bar and that’s already parkour moves and overlaps with gymnastics. I trained for a year until I found out parkour gyms even existed
I first learned about parkour in middle school and loved it. I had so much fun running, climbing on rooftops, jumping and I was always practicing. Loved movies like District B13 and would constantly watch parkour videos online. But unfortunately I was bullied in school for my interest in it. I even had people who I thought were my friends come to my while I had a injured leg I got while actually doing parkour and say things to me like "Me and So and So discussed it and we decided there's no way you could actually do parkour. If you can actually do it show us a trick" which I stupidly did. I nailed the trick but hurt myself more in the process and they would still say they didn't think I could actually parkour and they think I only know a few tricks. I ended up stopping parkour in high school. I would still do a few things here and there but never really had my heart in it. Now as an adult I realize I should have never let them bully me out of my hobby but I did. I tried getting back into it a little while ago but I just couldn't get over the idea that if I hurt myself and couldn't work to pay bills then I'd be fucked. I never really did go back and try again after that. I used to be a big fan of urban freeflow and its kinda sad to see what happened to them. Great video man. Super interesting and well researched. I just found your channel today and I'm about to go bing your videos.

@@JimmyTheGiant I have always heard alot of convoluted myths about the origins of parkour and the Yamakasi Group. All I heard growing up was the myth that David Belle and Sebastian Foucan led the group and they fell out over the philosophy of it or something and it completely divided the group. I'm unsure whether this is true or false. I used to try and look it up, years ago but never quite found a definitive answer as all the articles ect. that I could find, stated one of them founded it but not the other but never both. A video on this would clear up alot of shit I reckon... Unless there is an answer already...Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Parkour and free running are different. Parkour: getting from point A to point B as quickly as possible. Free running: getting from point A to point B as creatively as possible.
@@modernwalking6602 that's just because mass media fucked up the terms for so long, and the "run" part in free running is easier to relate to for many people, to whom the term "parkour" is unfamiliar and not as relatable. When more and more people tell the same lie, people start to truly believe it and over time, to the masses, the lie does become truth. However, Parkour and Free running are worlds apart in so many aspects, it's actually incredible that so few people care to look up the difference these days. None of the actual experts or oldtimers ever debate what is parkour and what is free running, they are so easily distinguished its like comparing ballet to ice skating. But newcomers grew up with the lie that mass media and average joes tell them, and they believe what they hear more often, rather than who is actually knowledgeable.
Phenomenal documentary bro! So glad I came across this. I just seen my little brother randomly wearing my old UF shirt from 2010 (he has no idea what it means) and had the sudden urge to type urban freeflow into youtube, stumbling upon this excellent story. I had always heard about the negative side of UF but this certainly filled in all the gaps regarding Ez. I actually feel sorry for the guy, considering that accident must have made him paranoid that he'll be left behind by everyone and become obsolete. Then within a few years, the whole scene hated him (with good reason I suppose). He must have so many regrets. It's probably the teen nostalgia in me but I sure do miss those days of the parkour community. Great work anyway, subbed!
Love from king's lynn, Norfolk! Parkour here is still booming as ever ! The scene will never die out as long as we have lovely parks dotted around UK , because it's about the art , one thing big companies could never take away from us 🙏💯
I started training back in '08 and even then I got a weird vibe about UFF just from the UA-cam and then I always wondered what happened to the guy. This was great, thanks for putting it together!
Man i remember when a friend and I randomly stumbled on that Storm Freerun Volume 1 vid. It was mind blowing for us and we immediately started doing parkour ourselves. It also introduced us to Glitch Mob. Neither of us do parkour anymore, but we've been talking about getting back into it. Really cool that this vid randomly popped up.
I was wondering not even a week ago what had happen to this channel I so so looked up to in my teens... Sad story but thanks a lot for all the informative video you make! Keep it up!
FYI, Parkour is the art of getting from one place to another as efficiently as possible no matter the obstacle in the way. Free running uses parkour moves as a base and adds tricks and just going for fun and style.
In essence, parkour is a Kong vault and wall run while free running is a Kong vault over a wall, running up a wall to backflip, and then turning back and Kong vaulting the same wall from before
I thought it was the other way around but then I never was into these kinds of sports. Yet even I know they are not the same, such a shame that people like this YTer keep throwing that misinformation around...
I remember some of these connections and basically all of the youtube content from those days. I was irritated with UF for a long time and was happy when the ironic contest entries thing seemed to put the nail in its coffin. But I never had any contacts "on the inside", just the public statements. This video brings a lot of closure on stuff I had nearly forgotten I was curious about.
He could’ve gone really far and been a good big brother to all those kids as well as had as much pussy as any man would know what to do with.... unfortunately he came from another generation, culture and time and probably needed counsel and a few good friends to talk to. As well as some Love & reassurance. What a shame. E-Z.
Damn the memories! I was the Spanish Agent for UrbanFreeFlow and got them in contact with Galizian Urban Project and submited a whole interview plus the photos provided by GUP for the UFF magazine. Never got paid, did it to share what we had in Spain for the world, it started as a good thing but money and greed... well... fuck up things. Thanks for the video it brought so many memories back!
Head injuries are no joke, even if there's "no lasting brain damage" they can really shift your personality. My sister took a bad fall, slipped and cracked the back of her head on a tile floor when she was around 20, and while it's been over 10 years and she's still a perfectly functional and intelligent adult, Her personality shifted quite a bit. She'd be quicker to frustration and harsh judgment, she became quicker to negative emotion, she'd forget small things that would make her feel isolated and insecure ("Why the heck didn't you tell me what time the event was? That's so inconsiderate of you." "No, I did tell you the time."), it would just be ever so slightly harder for her to concentrate on things. That is 1000x NO EXCUSE for what he was convicted for, however. But I can see how, in the early stages after his injury, EZ would shift his personality in that much harsher, irrational way.
wow, while its always interesting to hear both sides of the story, the fact your couldn't find anyone willing to defend the guy speaks volumes in itself!
I remember when i was like 12 years old. Im 32 now. I was jumping up on high boxes and did some parkour stuff. I've never heard about Parkour. Dont think anyone did at that time. And I said to my friend "There should be like a sport where u jump around on stuff and do tricks without a skateboard and stuff"
just stumbling across thos, was pretty interesting. I was part of the first boom of UK interest in Parkour back in 2003-8 or so, and yeah even then I remember a lot of unease about UF's ambitions and EZ's involvement from the community. Over time, things just seemed shadier and shadier, with groups splintering off to do their own thing and a seemingly neverending amount of bad stories coming from people who had been involved with them... And most of them seemed to lead back to the attitude of a certain EZ.
This was epic and informative. I got into parkour in like 2011 and was active until I fell off my longboard and messed up my knee a few years ago. I loved it and I'm sad to see what it's become. It seems like anyone still doing pk is more into tricks and flashy moves and the passion of maximizing optimal jumps and vaults is just not the same. Shoutout to anyone who might read this from our little Pawtucket community or from the Boston freerunning scene!
Man the nostalgia hit from this video. I was there at the second parkour worlds. Livewire was absolutely mind blowing. I hung out with Kirby a few times as we lived super close to each other. And in UFs peak it definitely aided the community ... but it also held it back and there were plenty of grumbles. Parkour generations did great things back then. And I used to go on the flying squad forums because those guys were such incredible fun. But so many guys focused so hard on becoming a sponsored athlete and were more concerned with getting their face seen then actually training or helping others train. Its good to hear that the community survived even with UF gone. Sounds like it was for the better.
Very clean script Calm and clear voice Good topics and very well structured Nice cliffhanger elements that make you stick to the story over the entire 16 minutes with the interest of actually wanting to know more This Video is a really good example of how someone should make a presentation of any topic :D Great work! Enjoy your day!!
Thank you Kurrandor! I've been watching lots of short video essays and really trying to learn the craft of telling a story so it really means a lot that you've recognized that :)
I was there in the early years. There were several large PK gatherings in the early days and EZ convincing Sebastian Foucan to attend some of the meet-ups nad partner with him at the time really cemented their authority. The control the forum also had cannot be understated. Nothing happened in the scene without it being organised or written about on their site. Should out to the OG video maker Bam. I also have some great video content from the early days, makes me want to dig it out - Crispy (My old forum name)
Oh man, i used to read Urban Freeflow's Jump Magazine all the time in highschool. I still remember slacking off in IT class, reading the Jan 2011 issue and seeing a photo we had submitted got published. That made my day
This video was so good, i enjoy watching parkour but understand that i will never be able to perform it, you also have a very nice voice for the narrating 10/10 :)

Paul...let me down though...sigh...from those early tutorials. Been here since the day Blue did the Crane "Moon" Step..which they later renamed just the Crane Step. LOVE your channel bro. Respect for Jamaica.
when I was young and found out about skateboarding and other "extreme" sports, I was always curious as to why there wasn't a sport where people would jump and flip in the streets, in 2005 I saw an early trailer for District B13, did some research and learned the name of the sport I was envisioning in my head, it was life changing, have been fascinated by the sport/community ever since. Also, I still have my Glyph hoodie with the blue, white and red, one-handed vault logo. I don't wear it anymore, but hold onto it as a keep-sake. As shitty as it must have been for the athletes who got screwed over, its still part of parkour history for better or worse. Parkour history is awesome though, love your channel, has brought back a lot of good memories recently.

Didn't think I'd stick around for the whole video. I'm glad I did. Well told sir. 🤙
Same!
Stuck with it for about 45 seconds, then couldnt stop watching
I did always wonder what happen to urbanfree flow! Amazing video dude! I remember those days very well! I quit parkour a few years back to injury, which I still have problems with today, but quitting parkour made me fall back Inlove with skateboarding which I’ve done for many many years, and I’d love to get back into parkour as I also did that for so many years! Loving your content bro earn a sub! Have been re watching my old videos and you’re definitely inspiring to get started again! Keep up the good work! I’m a Bournemouth boy and we have a massive community down here! As I’m sure you know few big names from down here! Awesome to see the younger generation doing so well living our dream! Big up
Fondly remember - Tim Shieff 09 showreel...
I think i was 10 years old or something and didn't fully start parkour for a few years :)
Loved this video dude! Can't wait for all the amazing videos you will bring this year x
Ahh man, that tim shieff damien vid with them all in the park will hold a special place in my heart.
Thanks bro you too, we'll get this podcast ep done soon!
Kelan 🙏🏼
I’m not even that interested in parkour but this video was very interesting and kept me watching. Great stuff
Im glad to hear that, means im doing my job! Welcome to the world of parkour
Thanks for sharing with me Michael, DM me a pic of your UFF shirt on insta @jimmythegiantuk
Sad to have seen it go so dark considering just how amazing what they built was
Many sexual offenders will be much against any offences involving children. They will also not dream of touching their own daughters but will touch someone else’s.
0:40 i wasn't expecting Trance - 009 Dreamscape... Old school UA-cam
Thanks for saying I was hoping someone will
Really well-researched, well-written journalism here. I’m not into parkour in any way so I don’t know anything about any of this stuff, but you explained it all so well that I didn’t feel like there was any part of the story I didn’t understand. The only name I recognized was Tim Shieff, who I know from his Ninja Warrior participation.
6:32 that's my brother having his trousers yanked down on the right hand side lmfao
LMAO
ahaha older or younger?
tell bruv he's got a nice ass
What’s yo boys @??
“In 2020 parkour has become a booming event”
*haven’t heard the word “parkour” in years.*
Legit
I’m honestly surprised people still take it seriously, like as a hobby I’d understand
PK: I'm honestly surprised people still take something that keeps them active, seriously.
Also PK: Spends all his time playing video games such as Read Dead Redemption 2, Skyrim, GTA V.
Don't judge man. I'm sure your hobbies are just as odd to people who would rather do something constructive instead of staring at a screen all day.
SRank Outcast I wasn’t judging
That’s why I said “as a hobby I’d understand”, also don’t be wildin on me for playing games when you literally do the same
SRank Outcast what’s wrong with those games they’re good
SRank Outcast lol you say that like you know ALL he does is play video games. maybe he plays video games after he gets back from training for his next bodybuilding competition...
Your actually so under rated, nice video. I started parkour in August of 2019 and I find your videos very interesting
Thanks dan, we'll get there bro. The family is only growing!
Great video 👏👏👏 I really enjoyed the narration, the story is amazing and the images are such a vibe... So glad I got it recommended!
Also I began watching parkour content because of storror back in 2012 and when you said they're now the biggest team that felt sooooooo good man
You did a good job here dude, comprehensive exploration, kept interest peaked right thru, even handed presentation, you'll do well making docos if that is where you're headed
I remember winning one of their double hooded Glyph hoodies back in the day and then EZ refused to send it to me hahaha what a time, always imagined him ending up in pen
Well that sucks for you back in the time. EZ was like Mr. Krabs.
I had won a wristband, never got it either.
“It was every 13 years old’s *wet* dream.”
I can confirm
Yup
thats what is said?? i use subtitles and it said 'wet tree'. i thought it was some new expression i havent heard before lol
I tried doing parkour when I was 13 cause of assassins creed….I sucked lmao
I found Storror when they released their first 6 underground video and they've been my favorite channel ever since
They're legends
Jake Zimmer do u do parkour? I recommend doing it and there videos are that much cooler when you understand what they do and go through
@@santi_super_stunts2573 I do gymnastics/tumbling and mini tramp.
I don’t know anything about parkour at all and had no idea about any of this. Also never seen a video on your channel before. Very engaging video really sucked me in quickly and made me want to know what happened. Yes it’s an interesting story but you are also a very well spoken creator. Definitely subscribed and will be watching more!
Very glad to hear that ☺️

Really well made Kieren! I'd love to see more video's like these every once in a while. How about making one about the beginning to the end of the Flow channel?
Ooo thats a really interesting idea actually - added to my notes!
I was on Urban Freeflow I loved it to begin with. It was amazing then it got dark fast! I miss the old Urban Freeflow still to this today. I even went to one of their gym events. Ahh and the old PFC team on there the Spamlords
Yeah man, i miss those days
Yup, I went to a couple of their gym sessions in Erith.
Gotta love the attention to detail you put in your videos Jimmy. You literally give the perfect history lessons in all cool things. And the man can flip too. Boom. Legend
Amazing video, came back to watch it a year later and it’s still amazing, every video like this you make is really interesting. Great content man
Dude Jump London was released on the day I was born, literally😱
mister zman just doxxed urself
@ShawnOnSight Ikr man. Hes gonna get tracked down and killed. Oh no.
Cool. Hey, what's your mother's maiden name?
Cheers then ... wanna make me feel any older?!! I was in my mid 20s!!
I wish there was a video with this level of research and presentation for every story of the history of parkour.
I plan to bro, im open to any suggestions
@@pkwinter3run Damn that's an interesting question, i have contacted with seb so i'll start digging, thanks for the heads up. :)
Complete story of origin of Yamakasi and Parkour is in the Breaking the jump book by Julie Angel
@@StepanKristof Thanks for the recommendation, i will give it a read. Maybe I can relay some of the infomation in a video
Parkour and free running are different.
Parkour: getting from point A to point B as quickly as possible.
Free running: getting from point A to point B as creatively as possible.
Parkour - David Belle and Sebastien Foucan and the Yamikazi.
Free running - Everybody else
@@profmartin1967 yamakasi bruv
Absolutely nobody doing parkour today would agree with your Definition.
Cringe
The scene will never die out as long as we have lovely parks dotted around UK , because it's about the art , one thing big companies could never take away from us 🙏💯
Definitely do the one on Tim.
I discovered parkour because of MTV's ultimate parkour challenge ✌️😃
i can see you've put a lot of effort into this video, you really showed the story brilliantly. great job jimmy.
Thank you very much Kuru, more to come soon!
0:32 At first glance I thought it was loss
It can't be escaped!
Hahah ikr
I started training back in '08 and even then I got a weird vibe about UFF just from the UA-cam and then I always wondered what happened to the guy. This was great, thanks for putting it together!
Man i remember when a friend and I randomly stumbled on that Storm Freerun Volume 1 vid. It was mind blowing for us and we immediately started doing parkour ourselves. It also introduced us to Glitch Mob. Neither of us do parkour anymore, but we've been talking about getting back into it. Really cool that this vid randomly popped up.
That one dislike was EZ
Haha!
Thats insane
I read alot bout parkour besides training but how could I've missed nearly everything in that video
Realy good work
A lot of the history has been lost on the newer generation tbh!

Keep it up!
FYI,
Parkour is the art of getting from one place to another as efficiently as possible no matter the obstacle in the way.
Free running uses parkour moves as a base and adds tricks and just going for fun and style.
In essence, parkour is a Kong vault and wall run while free running is a Kong vault over a wall, running up a wall to backflip, and then turning back and Kong vaulting the same wall from before
@@jarnesss2546 Aka, needlessly go over the same obstacle multiple times.
I thought it was the other way around but then I never was into these kinds of sports.
Yet even I know they are not the same, such a shame that people like this YTer keep throwing that misinformation around...
Seems inefficient to me what I see them doing
@@theworkethic when you take parkour and add tricks, it becomes freerunning and is no longer about efficiency.
It is such a fascinating story and im really glad to have put the pieces together and as you say create some closure
I did not search for this but im glad it got recommended to me
Incredible Video Mate
Glad u enjoyed

@@ec_money Sterling just means British pounds. There are different currencies of pound so people call British ones sterling.

Jump Magazine Issue 11 issuu.com/jumpmagazine/docs/jump_mag_issue_11.0/110 things have changed so much...
Man UA-cam recommended this to me and now it caught me like hell
just stumbling across thos, was pretty interesting.
Parkour is still a thing? Last time I heard anything about it was in like 2007, binge watching David Belle.
Nice to see that it’s kept on growing :)
watch this space over the next 2 years, big things coming
Oh I remember these good old days
I went away for a while and always wondered what happened to free flow, thank you for this video!
Amazing job, thanks for telling this story so clearly!
Thank you, many more to come
This was epic and informative.
I've been into parkour for a very long time and honestly I'm happy to see it gain popularity
same bro
This was just randomly recommended to me, good video.
Very clean script
Calm and clear voice
Good topics and very well structured
Nice cliffhanger elements that make you stick to the story over the entire 16 minutes with the interest of actually wanting to know more
This Video is a really good example of how someone should make a presentation of any topic :D
Great work!
That made my day
We need more videos like this to expand the parkour world, love it!
Keep subbed, plenty more coming

Urban FreeFlow...well..
