Half-life started a new genre in gaming.
rub ber not really... it just took a genre and put it in a blender and stabbed it multiple times before hanging it on it's wall, and continuously whacking it with a crowbar until it got on it's knees and bowed down to it.

learn gamin history
it's been almost 14 years since this games was released and still love it, there are days when i think i like the first half-life more then the second one, that's the actual value of a really well designed game, when you come back to it after a few years to play it and it still holds up.
We need reviews of every game: old and new, abysmal and legendary, popular and obscure. It's the average games that could pass without reviews, because most people will know and play them (like Halo and Tekken).
Half-Life really nailed the whole immersion thing with it's fantastic atmosphere & setting. Few games really pull this essential element of great gaming off, Deus Ex: Human Revolution being one of the best to date.

I'm sorry, I had to leave your review for a second because in the related videos there was someone calling Half Life 2 a bad game. I mean seriously, but great review.
I know many people don't like call of duty but if you could review cod 1 then that would be great because after cod 1&2 the series went down the shitter

This game is pretty good and i say it's MUCH better than Call Of Duty. I've only had this game for 7 days and almost completed it already. And i see that when you reached the area with the toxic waste cans in the river of waste stuff or whatever it was, you did the same thing i did. "Ride the wave"

Difficulty settings don't do to much? Something tells me you haven't played Hard Mode yet, because Hard Mode to me is the greatest challenge in Half Life; it's grueling and intense, and you have to constantly reserve your resources. And Easy mode makes the game ridiculously easy, as the name implies. Normal Mode is just, normal. There are easy parts, there are hard parts, the best way to play.

Today I played and finished this game for the first time ever. I didn't like the core gameplay at all: slippery and clunky movement, the realistic weapons (except d'eagle) are extremely inaccurate and weak.
I did notice how similar the later levels of System Shock 2 (1999) are to HL's!
Can't wait for Black Mesa: Source.
