- Here's Go-Mod for Half-Life 1. It's basically the GoldSrc version of Garry's Mod but very primative.

Did you see a new HL 1 beta cd was posted online by a tester? It is quite similar to retail but it still has the comms center in Forget about freeman before it was cut. Neat.
Yeah I was reading about that earlier. Pretty interesting.
I opened the video and paused immediately. Didn't watch it yet, I'm just giddy with excitement for childhood memories of this mod. My friend and brother both played Go-Mod a ton back in middle school with me. I didn't even finish reading the title and knew what it was. Title confirmed it and my excitement surged even more.
Just typing this out to say thanks for uploading this. I don't know if you 'approve' this mod or not as something to check out yet, but the memories coming back made my day.

Back in the early 2010s there was an attempt to make Gmod on the PSP port of Quake. I worked on a map for them at the time. Worth a video!

I talked to the Remod guy, with some suggestions. Since we now have func_vehicle sources in the HLDSK it should be immediately available to be added. It's also quite possible to have vehicles stored as their own .bsp files that you can spawn into any map (this is true for any "brush entities") but he thinks it's out of his level of experience.

if the hl1 engine is called goldsource, why cant the hl2 engine be called silversource or ironsource?

I'm surprised people put this much effort into a hl1 version of gmod when you could easily just get a much better, easier to use version on steam. Kinda amazes me people still choose to go back to the classic half life stuff instead of using modern source

With all the demakes currently in progress I’m surprised this didn’t take on more fans.
I can see elements from every mod from the past being on this. Half-life Rally for vehicles for example.
you should also try quake sandbox which is basically garrys mod but for quake 3
I love Garry's Mod. I consider it to be one of, if not THE best game ever made.
Also that "HL2 Beta map" looks a lot like the Beta map you made that was inspired by cityruins

This mod or rather these mods have potential;
One of the things with gmod is that even without access to the internet, you could do a lot of thing and have fun (build a fort, fight an army, visit the dark scary room, make a giant dildo, you name it.) just in basic verion of gmod without addons. AND you could play half life 2 with gmod powers and addons.
So I think that you should be able to play HL1 in go mod(copyright aside) imagine playing HL1 with gomods physgun etc.
Here are another improvements that could be made:
-Make construct bigger just like in gmod.
-Add props that are moveable and stackable, even few would suffice, because then you would be able to build.
-Add multiplayer.
-Add a vehicle, even if it would be able to only move in one axis, you could then update it to be better later.
Now here are bigger things that I imagine would take a lot of time to implement
-Prop maker/dupe maker, this would allow player to make custom props albeit simple and blocky with custom textures and then you could turn them into dupe and share with other ppl.
-Since you can play source games on gmod, imagine if you could play "They hunger" or "Timeline" or any other goldsource mods in GoMod (This would probably take long time to do and it would only work on few mods probably) even if it worked on few mods players would have a reason to play GoMod now.
For GoMod to be counter part of gmod in goldsource, it should have some basic things that gmod does, building and "roleplaying" in gmod is important, if you could build in GoMod if would take the mod in next level.
I've played Go-Mod before. Haven't played it in years. Really great mod. Not the same as it was when I last Played

in my opiion Go-Mod is either one of the coolest Goldsource mods or one of the wierdest mods.

But like you said, the other Go-Mod games didn't get much attention, GoldSource isn't very good these days compared to Source since you said addons can't be made for it with ease(If i heard that correctly), and last time i checked, mapping in GoldSource is kind of a pain.

I've tried to play Half-Life 1's Go-Mod before but the entire game crashed on me while trying to launch it! :( So I'd just gave up on it entirely.

Both are very moddable in nature as their selling point. Sven Coop supports user created content and has weapons and gamemodes from many goldsrc games while Dusk lets you load any map from any mounted goldsrc game similarly to gmod in source.
3:38 gm_somewhere used to be one of my favourites. I used to play a lot go mod back in my childhood. I also used to play go mod with my brother for long times. It was fun at those days with all the sandbox stuff we used to do, I don't know why.

I hate that the updated version of half life made every game built off of it have that annoying camera tilt when strafing, it's even in CS1.6 now..
