    Just slowing down hair loss is completely unsatisfactory for most people and just not good enough. It's not really a win to still be losing your hair just less aggressively. The goal is to not lose hair and regains some that was lost.

      there is no such thing as stopping hairloss. With finasteride, you just block the most potent androgen in your body (DHT). You have plenty other androgens that are still making your hair fall out. Especially testosterone since it rises from the lack of DHT. You can only slow it down, never stop it. Females have the same hairloss too, just at such a slow rate that nobody ever notices, even in old women they only lost so little hair that it doesnt look like they have hairloss.

      If the goal is not to lose any hair then that's a cure which probably will never happen.

      @@utrippin7486 There should be other ways too to stop hairloss whether it is by DHT or other causes we all know if we loss some 100 or so hair it is not considered as hairloss and we are loosing for a very long period of time nobody says that's hairloss we got worried when we notice some thinning area where we see same visibly area with no hair which was not there before.

      @@utrippin7486 This isn’t true. DHT isn’t the most potent androgen on a quantitative scale. It’s qualitatively different in nature to other androgens. There is also no good evidence that other androgens cause hair loss. That’s why people with a genetic 5 alpha reductase enzyme show no signs of hair loss. Also it’s absolutely not true that you can only slow it down. Many people can fully prevent hair loss with treatment and even regrow hair to be better than their starting point.

    I think when we masturbate we got some escalation in the level of testosterone in our body and if the testosterone level is high then there is a good probability for the high level of DHT as it only converts through testosterone and high testosterone level can lead the high level of DHT too and some might argue with that it is a very short time span escalation in the testosterone level but what about those who are masturbating daily for 2 times for 5 or 6 years these short span of time of high testosterone level may to lead high level of testosteron, it might not attacking our hair with high power but it is attacking with law level of high testosterone and in a long period of time we would able to see small attacks in a long run have destroyed a lot

    Hello Vikram, thank you for all your videos. They are my primary and invaluable source of knowledge.
    Is this an interesting topic for you to make a video about?
    Let's gather the premises/facts:
    1) minoxidil accelerates the hair growth cycle
    2) each hair follicle has a predetermined number of cycles.
    And now comes the question.
    Does using minoxidil result in a faster "wear and tear" of hair follicles?
    Does this apply only to miniaturized follicles, or does it also apply to follicles that are resistant/less susceptible to androgenic alopecia?

    Hi, I have been taking finasteride for almost a year now 3mg per week. The only hairs that I am losing is in the shower and it is between 100-180 hairs per day, the days that I am shampooing my hair are the once that reach the 180 hairs. In my pillow and in my day I don’t notice any other hairs and I am really looking for them. I am loosing the same number of hairs now as before starting finasteride. I think the hairs that I am loosing and noticing in the showers might be a little thicker than before finasteride.
    Now I am not sure if finasteride is working for me or not and if I should increase the dosage or even try dutasteride. What I have heard and read is that Dutasteride blocks 99% of DHT while Finasteride blocks only around 80%. Furthermore the topic I red and seen specified that there are 2 types of dht and only the type 1 affects hair loss which finasteride covers it al in the 80% that blocks.
    Anyone here that knows anything I would really appreciate it,

    I've been on Fin for 2.5 years with Minoxidil and Nizoral. It's slowed down yes but they're still falling off. My dosage was 1mg three times a week for the first 1.5 years but then the side effects got really unbearable, so I reduced it to 2mg/week, but then the hair falling rate got a little faster and side effects got better. Rn I'm at 0.5mg 6 times a week, which i think deals with the side effects a little better but hairs still going

      Minoxidil alone with not stop or prevent hair loss you need to get finestride because what causes hair loss is a hormone called dht and it attacks the hair follicles killing them all minoxidil does is provide blood flow to the follicle and prolongs the androgen fase

    When I was still in nw2, I took finasteride one mg per day for 5 months the year before last, and my hair still fell out at 90-110 strands per day. So I stopped taking finasteride for 8 months. I discovered that my hair was about to turn into nw3, so I started taking 0.5 mg of dutasteride a day. Today is my fortieth day of taking Dutasteride, and my hair loss remains at 100-130 hairs per day. My hair is progressing towards nw4. My hair follicles are getting smaller and smaller. If I continue to lose more than 100 hairs a day after 5 months, I will stop using Dutasteride.

    Question. If someone has success regrowing hair on Topical Minoxidil and Finasteride, could they then remove minoxidil from thier routine and maintain that regrown hair or would Finasteride alone not be enough to maintain those gains?

    • @niltomega2978
      @niltomega2978 11 місяців тому +1

      That is not a question anyone can really answer. First one would need to know if it was Finasteride or Minoxidil that was successfully regrowing hair...or both?
      If I had to choose one to keep taking, I'd choose Finasteride.

    • @salasa3221
      @salasa3221 11 місяців тому

      Finasteride and minoxidil work independently through separate mechanisms so one cannot substitute for the other. Where finasteride limits the DHT that reaches your hair follicles and thus curbs hair loss over time, minoxidil supercharges the follicles so they stay in their anagen (growth) phrase longer. Cutting off minoxidil will result in you losing the hairs you regrew with it, likewise cutting finasteride will mean DHT continues to hurt your hair follicles until even the minoxidil regrown hairs will fall out

    I have a question that is bothering me..
    "Finasteride has long been linked to high-grade prostate cancer", what is your opinion ? This is very scary.. and I think this is very disturbing..
    That's the only thing stopping me from trying medication.
    And believe me... I am a person who has been doing everything possible for ten years, including a hair transplant (once), but for a satisfactory result I need more grafts..
    I know...if I start this drug I will keep the existing hair for a few years (and get some hair back that is not depleted by DHT)
    High-grade prostate cancer ? This is biggest question.
    What is your opinion.
    Тhank you!!!

      I believe the association is not causal, and if I recall correctly it is the case that finasteride makes it easier to diagnose this type of cancer, meaning that finasteride is associated with recorded cases of the cancer, but is not the cause of it.
