    Spot on. I lived in Orange beach for 15 years and fished lights many times. I also had my best fishing on the yellow lights. I use braid during the day but found that cajun line was more productive at night. Those fish were spooky from all the fishing pressure. It did not take long to figure out to stay as far away from the dock as you could. Love your channel and all the useful info.

    This was a very helpful video. I tried night fishing a couple nights ago and actually got an inshore slam with a few puppy drum, some trout, a flounder and some striper following these tips.

    🙋🏻‍♂️ Guilty of several of these big mistakes. Much easier to be stealthy out of a kayak though!

    A lot of good info. I always didn't care much about all that noise like a loud close generator. It all makes sense. especially when we confuse a predator, and its instincts are no longer in a natural state. All good info !!

    This is dead on. I would also add giving a light a little time to rest after pulling a fish off of it.

    Solid info. We jug fish at night and I’ll have nights where I’m getting worn out while other guys are only getting a few bites and I think 95% of that is noise. I like to quietly drop my jugs and back off a few hundred feet while they often will run out with their outboard and hang out right on the middle. Even the slapping of the water against the hull can be super loud.

      I think your right noise plays a huge part especially at night when everything around you quiets down.

    #1 too loud
    #2 tackle, go light at night, 10lbs braid, 10 leader
    #3 1/16, 1/8 jog w/ plastics, maybe soft tail, glass minnow, mullet, impersonate cruisers, no jerking maybe. Slow retrieve, no top or jerk.
    #4 everybody does it, stop pitching at dock. Hitting docks, bad. Approach everything, quiet. Go parallel, thru light, cast along, no hits on dock.
    #5 fishing wrong light. Submerged green light, good. No super LED, not much quality fish.
    Quick sum up
    Thx dude
    🌵🧀🐠
    Also, primarily the south u.s. advice. Gar, white trout, red fish, speckled trout. Move around, don’t stay around too long.
    And, timing if you can pick time, go after midnight when docks quiet up.

    Which led light for fishing crappie at night ? I don’t have boat….so I like at night so quite, as soon as dark, the sun comes down, I start to catch crappie, but after an hour later starts to slow down catch too, but I don’t have try out after midnight yet like you said it…I’m might try out if I can catch more fish too…thanks again

  • @jacksonmcintyre6047

    I want to add something, when you’re only catching white trout, you have to realize that no matter what time of year there’s going to be something down there eating those white trout. There’s a light I go to where if I throw 3 inch paddletails all I’ll get is white trout, if I upsize to a slick lure or a big swimbait, I usually can get at least two specks in the 20+ range on the right moon phase. Cheers.

    Great video as always !! I was wondering if you fish the moon phases/major minors? I've always paid a lot of attention to the theory, but man, I do better(way better) on the so called poor days and not in a major/minor feeding period. My best results are early in the morning in the summer time. I know there are other factors to consider, but over all what do you think about the moon phase theory? Thanks man !!

    • @southernsalt
      @southernsalt  3 роки тому +1

      I haven’t paid a whole lot of attention to it but there’s some solid evidence out there that supports the data.

    Also you hinted at another mistake. Spending too much time at one light. Sometimes if I get a big striper I’ll just go to the next light right away…usually if I continue on the same light I won’t catch another..but if I give it a while and come back there’s another one there.

      @@southernsalt Thank you for your timely response. Your video was perfect! I am a transplant from elsewhere and am kinda new to fishing in general (let alone saltwater), living on the gulf coast of Mississippi and your advice was just what I needed. Last Question: I use a modified carolina rig with a bright green jig hook on the bottom. Is it fine that the jig-hook and dead shrimp bait sink to bottom?

    Midnight to 3:00 that is the best time to fish at night unless the tide tells you otherwise adjust accordingly

  • @josephmcgee8450

    What time of tide do you fish at night after midnight

    • @southernsalt
      @southernsalt  3 роки тому

      I haven’t really focused a whole lot on tides when night fishing but a falling tide will more than likely be more productive than a rising.

  • @saltysunburn2913

    Your dead on with being as quiet as possible and not spooking the fish. Blending into your prey's eviroment is key. Thats true with both hunting and fishing. The lights your talking about are called high pressure sodium. They give a nice warm glow. Here in Jacksonville Florida on the St. Johns river we have tons of those lights. Most shipyards and commercial ports have them. Im seeing alot of residential docks switching from high pressure sodium to LED because of the cost. One other tip is to think twice about bringing your kids out at night. They tend to be noisier than adults.
