SIR ROLAND! ONE OF MY CHILDHOOD HEROES! At 41 yrs now, You Sir along with Mr. Hank Parker and Mr. Bill Dance and Mr. Jimmy Houston all were the only BASS FISHING content we had! Love ya guys thanks for a great childhood memory of the excitement knowing your shows were comming on, I was not pushed to bass fishing it just always intrigued me, it chose me and i accepted the challenge! Thanks again great video!
I have 15 years on you and I feel exactly the same way. I used to love watching those guys on T.V. and couldn't wait to put another lure in the water. Good Times!
Hands down best narrator when it comes to fishing just love how candid you are . Been watching since childhood with my Old man and now im 40 and hes 75 - still enjoying as kuch as ever!
All these guys cost me money...and lots of it. Oliver Ngy (Big Bass Dreams channel) has cost me at least $4000 this spring, between big swimbaits/glidebaits and rods/reels to throw them on. It's easy to see why companies sponsor them!
Hi Roland, I have read your book on bass fishing and your book is the best detailed book that I have read on bass fishing, thank you for your enormous time and dedication to this great sport and recreational past times that we Americans enjoy so much!!!
I saw you on lake Okeechobee Saturday the 12th I was fishing the outside of tin house you blew by around 1:30 I sat my rod down and removed my hat as you passed sir
Last night I went bass fishing at around 11pm. Pitch black outside, first day after the new moon. Tips from someone who night fishes a lot, SLOW DOWN on DARK NIGHTS. It’s hard for the fish to see at night anyway, burning a buzz bait with 0% moonlight is a tough bet to take. Only got one bite that night, but… it was the biggest bass I’ve ever seen in person. I live up North (Connecticut) so a 6-8lb bass is INSANE up here. It was that big. One big jump and he spit the hook :/
Bass can see great in the dark. They prefer to hunt in the dark because they have better eyesight than other fishes. Yeah it helps to slow down a bit, but not alot.
I Absolutely Love learning from Roland Martin. I've watched so many of His videos...I feel as though I know him. Please keep doing what you're doing. Chris Mancuso p.s. I like the longer hair thing you got going on. Lol
Roland I grew up in Florida Ever since braid came out, that's what I've used People up here(Indiana) , well most I know still rockin mono...I just can't. Puts the hammer down on bass, in any cover. Thanks for being you bud
Right. 2 whole weeks. A year in and I’m still trying for 5 lbs. Mabey I could come to Florida?? Thanks for all you give us Roland I appreciate all you give me!!!
Definitely need to come to Florida! I fish mostly neighborhood ponds and I usually catch atleast one 4lber or bigger everytime I go fishing and thats about 4 days a week for 2-3 hours each of those days
Come to Florida my brother. Hit a golf course or two, they’ll kick you off after awhile but I consistently catch 4+ pounders at my local golf course. If you have a boat, hit the st Johns or any of the lakes in southern Florida, the fishing here is amazinf
@@poodymeiner3125 I won 2 straight tournaments on St. John’s in my club. Caught big bass both times, 6 lb 8 oz last year and a 7lb 15oz this year. Toho and Harris have hawgs as well. Caught my PB 13lb 2oz on lake Conway a few years ago
I live in south Florida about 45 minutes from Roland Martin's fish camp. I like using frogs and loud topwater baits at night but I always have lick with one method. Try a 12" ribbontail worm at night. I'll use a Texas rig with a small bullet weight. I fish it parallel to the bank running it like a buzz bait and the weight comes in handy when I bring the bait to an opening in the weeds and let it sink down for a few seconds before burning it back up to the surface.
Roland im 55 ive been night fishing for 20 years. Im in west palm, ive got 4 10 pounders out of the same lake fishing at night. CUght them all on 10 inch plus black worm
My biggest was a 9 lb 12oz largemouth that I caught on a black Buzz King buzz bait with a black blade, around midnight, in a large farm pond in North Florida. Have it mounted and hanging on the wall. Night fishing is my favorite for bass.
Bass fishing is the best my favourite is striped bass but bass in general are just a crazy fish too catch the way they strike is super exciting I do my own UA-cam as well except I am only 13 my goal is too engage our next generation into fishing 🎣 but your videos are better then mine your editing is just next level awesome 😊
Roland, I caught a 10.1 and 12.9 back to back fishing for snook at night in south Florida just a couple weeks ago.I was using a 9” lipped plug. You would’ve loved it!
I've always done the same thing I do during the day. Keep it simple. I would have my reservations about night fishing in Florida. My luck I'd definitely catch a gator.
I've always found a Zara spook to be a good nighttime bait. For big bass. You can hear it as you walk the dog and if you hear a splash it's time to set the hook!
Lake Garcia, my home lake for years now. I have probably a hundred night trips on this lake and the nights vary for sure. Caught a 11.5 one night out there and countless bass from 6 to 8 lbs. Awesome body of water.
Hey Roland good video as always I wondered if you could possibly reply with your thoughts on moon phase for night fishing obviously a bright moon makes it easier to see but does it make a difference for the fish
I'm not out for 10 pounds im out for bag limit eating size. Same as deer, I'm there for meat not a trophy. But that's my heritage...love the tips though super helpful
Hey there Roland! Have you ever tried night fishing with a Fred Arbogast 5/8oz JOINTED Jitterbug, black in color?? It is the greatest night fishing lure ever!! Here in Northeastern Wyoming the bass aren't able to get as big as they do in other regions, HOWEVER, I have caught countless 4-6lb large AND smallmouth bass, and 4 Largemouth weighing in over 7lbs a piece (21 1/2" or so!!) Doesn't get any better than.that!! Btw, I have found NEW MOON nights to be WAY more productive than their FULL MOON counterparts.... How 'bout you??
You love doing them and I love watching them ! Roland in Florida do you ever night fish in Jan Feb and March ?.How about water temperature? Also do you fish right into the dark or do you wait for the fish to adjust to the dark?
Doug hannon says the biggest bass are always caught in mid day during a blue sky day. Bill dance will say blue bird days knock bass off balance. Roland Martin says big bass bite at night.
Hey mr.martin. I grew up in Central Florida and we used to jigger pole fish with large pork rind. Tied to real string on a long canepole with a no more than 2ft leader of the string. Have u ever tried it.
I had a good one that was or near double digits the other night and my buddy had the net and couldn’t net it. I do it by myself most the time. I did order a larger net.
I'm a kayak Fishing guy I can't afford a boat.. I couldn't imagine fishing stick March at night those gators are huge they're dinosaurs... Matter of fact I haven't been to Stick Marsh in about a year... Last time I was there during summer i was challenge by probably 20 different Gators over 10 ft and had to troll lures behind me so they would bite them instead of going for me.. all in the pursuit of catching a double digit Bass.. just throwing it out there I think they need to start thinning out the gator population in there.
How do you keep the pesky little alligators from chasing down your top water lures? I have avoided hooking them in the daytime but there have been some close calls. At night, I am not sure I could do it. 👍
Last time I night fished I got a tangle in my line, had to use my phones flashlight to see it to get it out, dropped my phone in the water, hopped out my kayak and grabbed it with my feet, then almost flip her just trying to get back in. I did, however, catch a nice 4 lber on a chatter bait. 11/10 would do again
I like how Roland Martin has looked the same for about 20 years
I was just gonna say " Roland and jimmy found the secret. Its fishing that keeps them young".
Vampire
That's cause all he does is fish lol
Imagine catching a 10lb bass every "couple weeks or so" lol.
I wish
Right????
LoL really!! I was thinking yeah maybe once or twice a year for him, maybe once a lifetime for me if ever!
MAJOR FLEX
Lol i cant catch a 10lb fish in NJ for a lifetime

Rolands enthusiasm and passion for fishing is awesome. I always learn something by tuning in. Thanks Roland!
He's answering the questions I haven't asked out loud yet lol
Gotta love Roland's demeanor just like a kid going to the gravel pit to fish me being 60 years young feel the same passion for catching bass!

Roland and the late great Doug Hannon started me on night fishing for big bass years ago
2 legends with a wealth of knowledge
Great video Roland. I took meticulous notes and your costing me money "again."
😎🎣

I grew up watching your show on Saturdays. Glad to see you're still around.
I catch all my double digits at night here in central Florida 👍 it's exciting and makes you much better at hook sets fishing hollow body frogs .
Where you at Freedom? Anywhere close to orlando?
I love using popper frogs in open water on a calm night! That 5+ lb bass blow up is so addicting!!
I saw you on lake Okeechobee Saturday the 12th I was fishing the outside of tin house you blew by around 1:30 I sat my rod down and removed my hat as you passed sir
Gotta salute the chief of bass fishing

Awesome thanks for the coaching session!
I’ve fished lake fork many times at night and then hildebrandt spinner baits will have the bats swooping down on your rod tip
Wow, so they can hear the vibration of the rod tip? Pretty cool.
Hey mr.martin. I grew up in Central Florida and we used to jigger pole fish with large pork rind. Tied to real string on a long canepole with a no more than 2ft leader of the string. Have u ever tried it.
Love it Roland!!!! You’re the man! 🤙🎣
Roland, Wheeler Lake is in Alabama, just to remind you....lol.
I had a good one that was or near double digits the other night and my buddy had the net and couldn’t net it. I do it by myself most the time. I did order a larger net.
Great video, great info, and great ideas.
This is all good for everywhere but Arizona lower lakes. Even Jimmy Houston has said fishing in Arizona is hard to do.
He's a great American fisherman he can fish anywhere!!🐐

Great info sir! Treat yourself to a Daiwa
Many years ago my friend's brand new diawa lasted for a grand total of 1 nice redfish
Thanks Roland!
Will you cover not getting lost?
Awe catching a 10lber is just a monthly thing for me. Jeez wish I could say that I can catch 1 every year or 2.
