    I gave up my iPhone for Sony Xperia and I do not regret it. The iPhone is good, but I hated the overprocessing of the pictures, even RAW photos were processed. I get better and more natural Photos from Xperia. The Menu was not a big deal because I am good familiar with Sony Menu from Sony cameras.

      I gave up on an Xperia phones years ago, after having several models the software bugs and stability issues just became too frustrating. Sony must have known this as they popped up a notification telling me to manually reset the phone every week! I moved to Samsung and then to iPhone and got fed up with all the over processing. I now carry a Fuji X-100F in my bag which produces far better images than any of these phones, I mainly just use the phone for video and the occasional snap now.

    • @Sabundy
      @Sabundy 6 місяців тому

      @@MrSamoDudeYou do realise that Xperia phones now are very different from Xperia phones from "years ago" when you used them? Since then the Xperia division (which used to be a wholly seperate division within Sony) has been fully integrated with audio, Alpha cameras, Bravia TVs etc.....put under new management/leadership. And the entire Xperia line was rebooted. If your experience of Xperia phones was from years ago then your information is woefully out of date and no longer relevant to the conversation.

    • @MrSamoDude
      @MrSamoDude 6 місяців тому

      @@Sabundy Nope, it’s still perfectly relevant. The end result is still the same, once bitten twice shy, I wouldn’t buy a Sony phone again due to my poor past experience, and a dedicated camera with a bigger sensor will still produce remarkable better images than any small phone sensor. Whether the end user would notice that difference is debatable though, especially if they’re only ever viewed on a small phone screen. For everyday snaps the manufacturers color science and processing tend to have more impact, and the reviews and samples make it clear that Sony’s is far from the best even on the latest models.

    I had such high hopes when I saw you guys were reviewing this phone. I was expecting to see you work the photographer angle a lot harder.
    I am VERY interested in seeing how well the DNGs from the 1 V respond to torture in Lightroom. How much headroom is there in highlights and shadows, including if you expose for the phone's strengths? How well do the colours respond to curves manipulation? Do any of the colours clip? etc etc etc
    This device, with all the manual controls it offers, is clearly meant for this kind of enthusiast/pro workflows.

    Interesting video! I found myself looking more at the footage from the camera that was filming most of the video instead of the iPhone or Sony. On a personal level I think it is like trying split atoms comparing those two photos. People who get the Sony I believe know what they want, period. AS far as the iPhone I believe many people eyes are trained for that so they like that picture. Personally I take both phones since both are wonderful but when I return to my senses probably the iPhone since the phone is good and I am in their ecosystem (like a happy jail where they keep taking my money since I keep giving it to them).

    Nice video. Do you have a gallery of computational photography shots taken with this Xperia versus Apple or better yet google pixel you could post?
    In your “future Sony cameras“ recent video, you talked about Sony, potentially adding that feature to their cameras, but I wonder how it’s really working.
    MKBHD seemed to say that he did not like the computational photography on Sony as much. Importantly, when he does the super big phone camera comparison every year, the Sonys always seem to do pretty badly despite their “pro” features. Whether it’s natural or not, people seem to like the processing that Google does much more than Sony.
    I wonder if that will change this year? I understand I can do more on the backend, but if the point of a phone is sharing immediately, I don’t necessarily want to go into a Lightroom and mess with it.

    Hi all, if anyone knows how to trouble shoot. I need help!
    So, I have a XQ-DQ44 (Japanese Version) Sony Xperia 1 V. I flashed the US Modems and it got my phone to able to work with data and text in the states. I couldn't find a fix for voice calling/ VoLTE so I decided to flash the whole 62 (US) version on my 44.
    After flashing the 62, my phone doesn't recognize sim cards nor does mobile radio turn on.
    I tried to use Sony Companion to fix things, but it says:
    "Temporary device incompatibility detected."
    I'm trying to get back to stock 44 rom (from Xperifirm), but when I flash it I get the message:
    "Your device is corrupted and can't be trusted."
    So I have to flash back to the 62 to turn the device back on. Is there a fix to get back to stock rom? What can I do?
    *I did find a workaround to get VoLTE to work, but I need to get back to native stock rom. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I am however a bit torn since I really like to shoot photos up close of flowers, beautiful design, etc., of parks and architecture, and lon my next vacations I will take the railway down through Europe and shoot a lot from inside a moving train during the morning, day and evening.
    So I have two questions I hope you would please answer:
    1. Would you recommend the Sony Xperia 1 V for the purposes mentioned above? I am not sure it is a good fit after seeing the difference in close-up shot of the flower using the main camera. I would also really like a tool I can master all the details of gradually over the next 5 years.
    2. Can you please tell me where I can find out more about shooting still photos from a moving train? I have not been able to find anything on the subject, whether it be videos, Blogposts, books or courses.

      If you are shooting from a train the Sony has unparalleled image stabilization - they rule the market. You also have 4K 120 frames per second from ALL lenses. This doesn't exist anywhere else on the market. For Macro you don't expect flawless results from a phone but if you do do it then your priority is Colour, Manual Modes, and Light. All are superior on the Sony. Natural colours is the most important thing in Macro and Natural Light. Sony new sensor cannot be competed with for light gather and shooting in dark scenes with no noise

      IPhone is for consumers who want automatic everything. If you want to use a phone in place of a standalone camera then Sony is the only option. The phone also is the only one on the market with variable zoom- where the lenses actually move to change focal lengths. They didn't talk about this at all. Every other phone has fixed length and then uses digital zoom to fill the gaps between the fixed focal lengths. It's amazing to see. Check other videos

    One thought that I have had for a while now is that Sony's phone cameras are more balanced to the oriental market, and mainly Japan. I have noticed that Japan in particular tends to like color accuracy. I think that tends to also be the case throughout Hong Kong and S. Korea, but it is probably strongest in Japan. Oddly, the Samsung look seems to me about as highly processed as Apple, but differently. The Sony look can be very subtle. I remember an ad for a Japanese product that pointed out that Japan was a major center for graded pearls. Was that a Fujifilm ad? I'm not sure. But yeah, subtlety, accuracy -- I tend to see these in Japanese photography. When I look at the Sony phones (like my Xperia 10 iii), these are what I find. I wonder what I would see if I looked at other Japanese phones? There are phones in Japan that we do not see in North America. I wonder if they are closer to Sony's in some ways?

No doubt the iPhone is no slouch though but I am not a fan of all their photo processing, namely the over sharpening that happens on my 12 Pro Max. Causes a lot of photos to look ghastly.
