    The twisting forces applied to the trailer hitch are insane, especially when turning left, I would be surprised to see it lasting more than a few km, not to mention the effect on the car dynamics. The good news is that the design can be easily corrected by adding a second wheel while still keeping the ability to lower the bike, you just need a U "swing arm" instead of an L one.

    it was worth making a mechanical fixation of the wheel in the transport position, you should not keep the hydraulic cylinder under a constant load, it would be more logical to do it: pumped up the pressure and raised the trailer, locked it in the transport position and relieved the pressure ...
    стоило сделать механическую фиксацию колеса в транспортном положении, не стоит держать гидроцилиндр под постоянной нагрузкой, логичней сделать: накачал давление и поднял прицеп, зафиксаровал его в транспортном положении и стравил давление...

    • @RudyRydz69

      not saying that its shity suspension for it. If he lock wheel position it will jump like rubber ball, and that way it will be working on that cylinder.

      согласен. более того, если прицеп подбросит на колдоёбине или лежаке (учитывая отсутствие демпферов), положение колеса может измениться. я тоже думал что механизм фиксации будет последним, но нет... а идея классная!

    As much as I think this is a very cool build, I find myself thinking that using an air spring/shock would have been a much better choice. Hydraulic fluid is technically incompressible, so your trailer technically has no suspension. Now imagine hitting a bump at highway speed. That trailer is going to bounce all over the place. It seems to me it would be quite easy to swap the hydraulic pump with an air pump, which seems likely to work even if you keep the same cylinder.

    • @oscartattoo3910

      The hydraulic isnt meant to be a shock, its just a lift like on a dumptruck. I have a little trailer that has no shocks and it bounces around a bit. In fact the sidewall on the tire is the only "give" in the system but its fine for light loads. I agree a shock would be nice but then he needs A arms and that really complicates things a bit.

    It definitely needs a second horizontal pivot point added. When the vehicle turns in the video, you can see the crazy amount of side load on the rear wheel, trying to literally shear the axle and/or hitch off the trailer. Also, if the pump ever leaks, the trailer will drag on the ground, so it needs a locking pin for when its at ride height, not just something to hold the pump lever.

    A beautiful piece of work to be sure, but very complicated and apparently tailored to carry a specific bike.

    Nice! A small accumulator in the line to the lift cylinder would improve the suspension action over bumps. Any reason you didn't buy a loose U-joint from the local farm supply or junk yard for the hitch?

    • @HungryStickMan
      @HungryStickMan 3 роки тому

      Exactly! Was thinking U Joint also. Amazing lateral torque resistance while allowing the trailer to pivot up/down and left/right

    Great video and build, thanks for sharing. But please tell me why it does not tip over or the "tipping-over-forces" don't break the "anti-tipping-over" part? Especially when turning faster than 10mph.

      Stable enough for use on the island. Where on Malta can you drive faster than 80kmph?

    • @lutheduck
      @lutheduck 3 роки тому +3

      @@ulrichm i have no idea where they live... i thougth it was greece... anyway - even 50 is huge speed for unbalanced trailer of ~300kg - it can roll and drag a car with it. This is less but it is with higher center of gravity...

    I’m a new subscriber, and you’ve probably already answered this question a thousand times before. Where do you get your design ideas? Is it your creation? Or do you find prints and build from there. Your stuff is so unique and I love it! Excellent content! Keep up the good work!

    I like the concept for a lite trail bike , but how stable is the single wheel if using it for heavier bikes. I would duplicate the swing arm on the other side and turn the wheels out to make wider the trails foot print for heavy bikes. but still a good design and build, well done.

    It would need tie down points and some lights to even get close to road legal here in Australia though.
