This was a brilliant fun project, we were amazed about the acceleration of the electric monowheel. Have you checked our original monowheel? bit.ly/3xNePQA Thanks for watching and take a look at our Make It Extreme T-shirts bit.ly/3zwmumM
It's a super cool project, but you’ll regret not wearing respirators while spraying later. The damage to your lungs will be irreversible. Take care. Cheers.
Needs back EMF sensing to improve stability so it can apply torque when it dives. When you back off the motor and your weight shifts forward, the motor will generate voltage (instead of consume it), this can be sensed and motor torque applied to counter it.
One GIANT mistake in this project. You failed to wear a respirator when spraying aerosolized paint. I made the very same mistake when working with paint and chemicals over 20 years in the aircraft industry and lost my sense of smell as a result. Word to the wise: DO NOT SPRAY PAINT OR WORK AROUND/WITH VOLATILE CHEMICALS WITHOUT WEARING A PROPER RESPIRATOR! Please take heed from my mistake. Best wishes to all!
I cannot even imagine how big this channel would be if you guys would explain what and why you are doing as you worked through each project. Even if each build were a couple episodes long. I can't be the only person that feels like there's someone behind the scenes drawing projects up then handing a set of plans off to the builders. Then they just bang through each item.
Wellllllll maybe they just have done stuff like this so long that they’ve built up the shop/knowledge that they only need an idea and then cook from there… but yes please explain the technical parts anyway!
I am pretty sure there is a big market for this in the near future! With some gyro tweaks, alternative pedal version, additional kits and parts for customisation, this could be superior vehicle for road trips and daily life. Love it!
These things need a gyroscope to keep the rider from going upside down upon acceleration. Also, don't forget to wear your mask when spraying paint or powder coat..!! KOOL PROJECT...!!!
😁 Holy crap you're really the greatest - thanks for 149 great projects. Please continue making such greatr stuff - I can't wait to see the comming 149 things you do on this channel!
Pretty cool! I consider this more of a prototype/proof of concept. I know it would defeat the purpose of being an Omni-Wheel, but having a smaller wheel in the back to act like a "Wheelie Bar" would keep the Omni Wheel from rotating backwards and prove to be a more stable ride for the operator.
I remember seeing a concept vehicle that was essentially 2 of these mono wheels attached to one another, so that they were beside each other. The tops were tilted inward (bottoms were flared outward). The seat/driver was in between the 2 giant wheels.
A Gyroscope would be amazing! Although this is already so cool, a self-balancing mechanism would improve the monowheels stability and allow you to do cool tricks with it. The forward force while braking at high speeds could also flip you over. I recommend a Gyroscope to fix this issue.
I love the monowheel. Maybe you could make a "floating" internal frame for the handbar, battery and seat while the motor keeps in the "fixed" frame. I think that if you do that your body will stay in the same place when you accelerate or brake. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's something I can't keep out of my mind.
Absolutely amazing. There is some room for improvement: by programming the controller and having some sensors, the back and forth wobbling could probably eliminated.
As someone who doesn’t know much about engineering vehicles, I’m wondering if the lack of a tube in the large exterior tire would increase the rate that the exterior rim wears down?
Kerry McLean would be proud of ya! [He's the inventor/builder of the McLean Monocycle] I've seen so many styles of these over the decades, and they just keep getting cooler.. Kerry went w/ Huge combustion engines, so had to incorporate a tail rudder/wing combo for added stabilization.. NOW, we can just jam 'self balancing' PCBs to the mix, and that would nix the for/aft tilt [just think of a Huge EUC (E Unicycle) ] I saw that people beat me to the South Park joke.. But gotta' do it anyway: Your Seat looks a whole lot more comfortable! 🤣
now you just need to make a pedal powered one! seriously though, amazing build, and the idea of a pedal one just seems like an interesting thing to make, with all of it's own challenges
How many times did you stand back looking and laughing at what you created this time I'd say the monotrack was cooler but this is still a wicked build and well executed - get some skid plates on your feet and get the sparks flying 😂
Definitely epic, but I immediately flashed on what you did wrong. I have imagined a v.2.0, with awesome strictly mechanical improvements simply in geometry. Still this is excellent.
The only issue I see is the bobbing it does. from the looks of it. Its from your own balance of rocking and all the throttling. When it speeds up. I can imagine that wouldn't be too hard to fix with something attached at its center part that doesn't rotate that when it pivots back too far a small balancer wheel will be leaned into. So that I can still keep its momentum and stop it from rolling back too far. I'm not a genius like this guy so I can't tell you you in detail on what I mean. It would look like almost a training wheel in the back in a way. But a singular wheel lined up and very small. That will only touch you down when it rotates too far back. Obviously something will feel like it would mess with his design but I feel a professionals could fix that
What a fun and great looking machine. I've always wanted to try one. I bet they take a bit of a learning curve. You guys make it look easy though. I bet heavy braking is scary and dodgy. :) That scooter at the end was clearly abandoned and in need of recycling or repurposing. ;)
This reminds me of two things: 1- General grievous mono wheel vehicle with legs (Star Wara episode 3) 2- One of the antagonist of Hot Wheels Battle Force 5, who used one big wheel as a vehicle.
I’m like why haven’t we made one of these for the consumer and then we he had an inside view with the wheel in his face, I was like oh, it’s kinda obstructed a lot of your view. And then it looks like it has a lot of problems that still need worked out. I’m sure others have tried this with some success.
😂❤😂 Adorei!!! Que legal!!! Parabéns se eu morasse perto e tivesse dinheiro suficiente encomendava uma parada dessas pra mim. 😂 Imagina só eu aqui no Brasil na cidade de Curitiba dando rolê com essa máquina. É muito irado!
According to history, this design is from the 70s. But I think it's even earlier. In any case, the work is good, and it's useful to remember a lot. And I would also install mirrors on both sides, and a camera with a screen so that the wheel doesn't interfere with the front view. 💯💢😀

Needs gyroscopic steering. You could do some pretty impossible tricks with a high speed gyroscope.
Watch the video about the single rail train concept from the past and see how they overcame the balance issue using opposing gyros.

the 1930s one had a steering wheel to tilt the motor and wheel separately so that you could steer. looked far more stable
And here I thought people said that a Monowheel was not possible, with this Gyroscopic steering you could ride a Monowheel and look like Grievous
General Grievous wants his ride back lmao
Love this build
Glad I’m not the only one who saw that. 😂
Agent J and K as well

You need new shoes after every ride.
Facts. Unless you’re extremely skilled at the balance.
Fr the seat might need to be higher or something but idk
Could make shoes or a shoe soles attachment that can take punishment from the ride
Nonsense! You just need some boots with spurs. With, uh, tiny built-in disc brakes. ...what? Doesn't everyone own a pair of those...?
