Like one of your other viewers, I placed clear fishing line between the halves and hung the dragon from a popsicle stick suspended across the top. Works like a charm and would eliminate some of your steps.
He’s cute, I like the mica colors you used. You could try using UV resin to attached his bottom to a popsicle stick, that would hold him suspended on the rim. The stick will just pop off with a little pull. Also using a deep pour resin would eliminate the witness line. Most deep pours take 3 days to cure which allows time for the bubbles to release. Great job thinking outside the box!
I suspended mine with fishing string attached to his bottom and wrapped the string around a popsicle stick then pored half full, cut everything off and finished the pour. Worked great!!
I never thought of spraying alcohol for bubbles. Now I am a newbie but thank you like maybe a month into this hobby. It does have a very steap learning curve but is a lot of fun. Im going to try that my next project, because my biggest battles are the air bubbles that line the mold. 😊😊
Jdiction is my resin of choice. I used to use a resin that had all the micro bubbles in it and I could never get it clear no matter what i did. Jdiction is 1:1 and it degasses so incredibly quickly and easily. perfect crystal clarity.
@@resinnut9335 great! it has no VOC's is yellow resistant cures fast and clear. honestly it was a game changer for my resin business. I was always getting micro bubbles and i hated everything i made. i did some research and havent looked back. i get mine from amazon and I also love their UV resin!
To help with micro bubbles, place your resin & hardener in nice warm water before mixing together. The heat lowers the viscosity & thins both liquids, so when combined & stirred you get less bubbles & it’s totally safe to do 😉
Yes, I agree. I always start with warm resin too! That particular resin that I was using is prone to bubbles. I'm having fun trying some different brands. Thank you this is good information that I should bring up next time I have bubble issues
My first one flipped when curing its bottom was on the top but was straight . I'm going to try your method fill it some but when adding the dragon put UV on it to keep in place
I use a vacuum chamber to remove bubbles and then I used a clear wire like fishing line hooked around him to hold him in the right position. It was a little slippery at first getting thr line to stay on him but it only took about 5 minutes to get him right. I had already poured half the resin in the egg. I tied the line to a skewer and had it on a stand above the egg and poured the rest of the resin down the line. I didn't get enough resin in initially so I did have to pour a little more the next day but that was my fault. Yours looks good and very adorable! I think the baby is too dang cute!
Thanks, Anna! I'm glad you found a way that would work for you, too! I feel like I would just give up trying it the old way again. What a disaster that was. lol. :) Thank you for your description of your process, too. It may also help someone else. ♡
That mold was a nightmare for me as well. Many, many attempts and fails. I finally used fishing line and found the center, glued the fishing line on the baby and adhered it to the egg so that it wouldn't sink down. It stayed suspended and didn't tilt forward. You do great work.
The fishing line is a great idea, too! I thought about trying something similar, but then it was so easy to just lay it sideways. I'm always looking for the easiest way to get "decent" results. Doesn't have to be perfect.. but at the least.. decent! haha. ❤️
@@resinnut9335 I tried doing it in layers as well and really didn't like the line that showed. Deep pour resin and fishing line is what I ended up with. 😁
I have this mold but have been scared to death to try it yet. Thank you for doing yours for us. I'm definitely going to try now. Yours looks adorable! Thanks again! Love your work!
I had the same issue. Glued his bottom with UV resin to a paint bottle that fit the egg opening and once cured popped off the bottle and filled for the base. Worked great after several failed attempts. 😊
hi I'm new to looking at resin, so sorry for the stupid question, how was that whole video MUCH EASIER, you have the patience of a saint, for now I think I'll just keep watching. thanks for sharing .
Hi Denise! Your question is not stupid at all ❤️. The reason it's way easier is because the way the mold is made to be used makes it really difficult. The mold is made to stand up on one end. Some people (me included) struggled with getting the dragon to sit in there correctly, upside down, so that it wpuld cure in place without tying or using an adhesive to "hang the dragon" inside the egg so that it would cure correctly in place. Did that make any sense at all? lol. Welcome to Resin, and there is a whole new world and type of adventure ahead! :)
Place one of those invisible threads in the bottom of the baby's rear end before you glue the 2 pieces together. Suspend the baby from the string with two crossed popsicle sticks from the top of the egg. The baby will hang perfectly and you can't see the thread in the resin. Not my idea, but it's what I am going to do when I make the project.
Your Dragon is definitely cute 😍. As you were working out, the best way to secure him, inside the egg, I was thinking a small dab of UV resin, placed on his head, then use the UV Torch/lamp to harden it. This may prevent the issue in regards to the join lines and you could pour in one go. With the egg standing upright. Otherwise I think it turned out great ♥️💐
Artist tip: A small piece of wire placed between the dragon halves coming out of the bottom can be used to suspend the baby . Especially if you're putting a base in the bottom of the egg. It won't be seen. Much simpler process.
I made 2 and that just gave me a idea lol. I think it turned out pretty good my second one I put it close to where the head and tail barely touched the head more to the top of the egg it turned out good but my color was to dark lol
I know this is 3 months after this video came out, BUT.... have you tried nesting the mold in rice? Works wonderful for tricolor molds that you want the color in different directions.
Thank you, Gramma! You know, I've heard of people using the rice, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll definitely do that next time with the egg mold... and with the different colors too. Thank you for your suggestion and comment. ♡
What do you do with your left over resin between each step? I was curious to see if you had some interesting molds on standby. I love the way you did this little dragon. My granddaughter is going to love it! Yes, I’m ordering this one too! Thanks for all the inspiration! I’m on a Resin Nut video binge tonight! I know what resin I don’t want to use!! Lol I ordered the turtle mold you made. I can’t wait until it gets here!
You're right! Haha. Yep, I always have molds on standby and ideas ready to try. Although, I do try to keep them out of sight to keep my working area less cluttered. :) You went on a binge?? I hope that you had fun and found some new things to try! Thank you for your support and interest! ❤️. Let me know if there is anything that you'd like to see!
Actually, I’m pretty new to your channel! I subscribed but just got hooked! I will definitely let you know what I’d like to see, it just may be of interest to others! LOL
I recently started using a heat mat for my working surface. Bubbles can be a pain in the butt so I use this plastic tooth pic to help push some away from the silicone mold and up to the surface. I'll come back every 10 minutes to get rid of bubbles using a bbq lighter. But I guess the baby dragon egg will be a new experiences. I'm going to try and suspend the baby and maybe fill the egg up just past its head and wait for it to cure. I can get rid of whatever I'm using to suspend it after that. I'll probably do a couple more layers just to play it safe lol. Cool tip for the alcohol spray though, I've only used that for an effect with alcohol inks and silicone. Helped the silicone to make cells pop out onto the surface better.
Hi Opal, I've been using my heat mat for warming my part B resin. I don't use it for under my work because I find they aren't completely level. :) Let me know how your egg turns out! :)
Those bubbles must be so infuriating for you. I have this mould and have made the dragon but have yet to put him in his 🥚. I might try apex resins deep pour as it can go up to 30cms in one pour. However I will start it like yours as it came out so awesomely 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'm sorry this was boring for you. 😢 It was one of my first 10 - 15 videos, and I'm always working to improve the quality. Thank you for trying to watch at least part of it and for your constructive criticism. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks Lisa! I'm all for eliminating steps! haha Thank you!! 😊
Yeah, same here too. Use a pressure pot to get rid of the bubbles….
I did mine the same way.
I anchored mine with fishing line and a toothpick to keep it from going to the bottom...it worked great
Great tip!
Plz may I ask where ur using the tooth pic x.ty.

Thank you Funo! I'll give the UV resin and deep poor a try. Thank you for the suggestion. :)
I've done so many of these using suspending techniques. this way looks like it might work a lot better so thank you for this :)
You're welcome, Mini! It was a total game changer for me! I hope it helps :)
I saw an Australian woman who did it perfectly by suspending the baby in the egg with invisible thread. Worked great. I will do this.
@@passerineblue yep that's the easy way to do it - works well :)
I suspended mine with fishing string attached to his bottom and wrapped the string around a popsicle stick then pored half full, cut everything off and finished the pour. Worked great!!

Can I ask plz if you used more resin or did u maybe let it sit for 30 mins and pour the rest.Did u use deep pour resin too.Thank you.

Haha! Thank you! Yeah I'm not much of a dragon expert, but I agree for a baby, he's cute! :)

I place a piece of cotton between the two halves of the dragon and wind it round a lolly stick. Foil base would hide thread tail.
Thank you, Tony! I'm trying to picture that...It sounds like a really interesting way to do it. Thank you! :)
