Tbh, the only rivals I really liked were Blue and Hau. Blue is a cocky piece of shit (which is what a rival is supposed to be, they rile you to make you stronger) and Hau is a welcome break from all the edgy rivals we had to deal with before. The thing that makes me like Hau more than Brendan is that even though he is very friendly, he still has enough determination to fight on, to even challenge you when you are champion. Brendan just kinda... gives up.

Love this theme. The contrast between the intensity of this theme and their easygoing nature outside of battle makes me feel like the battle really brings out our hidden emotions.
Just hearing this brings back memories! How I had so much trouble with the battle on route 110 as a kid, because all I was training was (at the time) a Grovyle and Berloom; being new to Pokemon also didn't help much in that battle ether. I think it took me at least 10 or so tries before I was able to beat the rival on route 110 for the first time. I also seem to remember wanting to catch another grass type, but not knowing the Pokemon types, I went by the trading cards, so I caught myself a Grimer thinking it was a grass type like what it's trading card says. That's how I found out poison was a type.
I oddly enough prefer May's design for the original RSE, but prefer Brendan's ORAS design a tad more. Either way they both look really different in the remakes.
I love how most of the battle themes in Hoenn follow the same rhythm pattern for the first 9 seconds or so but the pitches of notes make each song distinct and sets the tone for the type of battle you’re in. Simply the best

For one of the first friendly rivals, their theme was really intimidating and I love it Also that route 111 fight…if it wasn’t Grovyle Lead Blade for Marshtomps, it was Mud Shot for us Combuskens (at least for me cause I was stupid trying to beat my chicken with everything)
Im impressed with Pokemon Emerald. Easily a 8 or 9 game. Too impressed with the high quality sound. Is a GBA game but the music its so good that can even be a music for a today game. Sorry for my english.
Well I grew up with oras as my first Pokemon game when I was 8. Brendan and Wally were eh rivals but otherwise the music, story and characters are outstanding ! 9/10
@@tabithaehrlich5882 Although I never liked mandatory trades in pokemon, I think it is the only negative point that this game has, but other than that it is not only (in my opinion) the best GBA game (along with Phoenix wright) and one of the best RPG, but also one of my favorite games of all time. Almost a masterpiece. Although I prefer pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of the sky since the story is better and has no mandatory trades but this also deserves its fame.
May/Brendan feels like the girl/boy who has a huge crush on you but don't know how to express it. So they do it by the only way they know how = Pokemon Battle.

Im impressed with Pokemon Emerald. Easily a 8 or 9 game. Too impressed with the high quality sound. Is a GBA game but the music its so good that can even be a music for a today game. Sorry for my english.
Well I grew up with oras as my first Pokemon game when I was 8. Brendan and Wally were eh rivals but otherwise the music, story and characters are outstanding ! 9/10

Although I never liked mandatory trades in pokemon, I think it is the only negative point that this game has, but other than that it is not only (in my opinion) the best GBA game (along with Phoenix wright) and one of the best RPG, but also one of my favorite games of all time. Almost a masterpiece. Although I prefer pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of the sky since the story is better and has no mandatory trades but this also deserves its fame.
May/Brendan feels like the girl/boy who has a huge crush on you but don't know how to express it.
So they do it by the only way they know how = Pokemon Battle.
