Super Turrican 2 Longplay (SNES) [50 FPS]: This console-only Turrican sequel might be short, but it's great fun while it lasts! Read the video description for my review!
You're right, I never noticed! I think there's also a prototype ROM floating around with a different player sprite (although it still doesn't look like the Commodore Turrican).
The prototype rom has several differences, such as his sprite (although it's really just the final design but with the Super Turrican head slapped ontop) and big level design changes
Oh my gosh, I don't think anybody has ever noticed, but the level where the player hangs onto a ship in the sky, and in Rendering Ranger R2, on the second level in the background a ship that looks similar in Super Turrican 2 crashes.
While not the best Turrican game this still is a blast of an Action game with great examples of spritework that you would normally consider Genesis worthy
Even though it's very impressive on a technical side, pushing the SNES to it's limits, this game doesn't feel like a Turrican game. The Turrican games always had a very open level design, with emphasis on exploration. This is basically more like a Contra/Probotector clone.
I’ve played/enjoyed Turrican2 on theAmiga very much. I still have a snes, looked up this game version, holy jumping turtle wax, it’s become an expensive game!
Would you mind if I used this video for some remixes I am doing? I will give you credit in the description. I am working on Wormland and Born to be Wild 🎸
+metalcoola I've just completed a longplay and review of Super Turrican which I'll release soon - you're right, it's the better of the 2 games on the SNES ;)
The least Turrican game I've ever seen , not a bad action game just not a Turrican game. I can see why no next gen versions came out now this is far too generic and different from it origins. They threw the baby out with the bath water with this one sadly, don't try and reinvent the wheel. Nice playthrough. I rate the game 6/10 as.an action game 3/10 as a Turrican game.
Fans of Turrican don't like this version, but for me was really good Edit: by the way looks horrible in this video, in TV looks much much better the game
No Wait?! How come no interpolation was used to enhance the graphics and they're so pixelated?! Any emulator would vastly improve them. It didn't look so bad on a CRT TV!
1:01:46 This stage wants to be Axelay so bad. 1:08:34 Okay, now this game wants to be Gunstar Heroes. This game looks cool and some songs sound awesome.
It's a shame they started going with the rendered look for the cutscenes and title screen and the like because they've just aged so badly. Thankfully most of the in-game stuff looks good to very good, although some of the Mode 7 boss battles and set-pieces haven't aged so well visually imo.
@@CrashUK28 Not the ones I used. It's not a secret that you guys over in UK had to pay quite a lot for PC's even late into the 90's. A friend of mine ordered a PC from Denmark in 1992-3, and saved more than 25% and got a lot of extras (Norton utilities etc) with it. -He lived in UK.
@@CrashUK28 I've checked the PC(s) you possible are referring to, and that is the ThinkPads 700 and 700C portable computers that were priced at $4.305. Most users of the PC at the time were using stationary PC's, as real gamers do today.
PCs started to go main steam till around 1995 and prices dropped due to Chinese manufacturing lowering cost of ownership. Prices crashed to £1500 and some around £1000. Late 1997 prices drop again £500.
I love how some of the music sounds like proto-Rogue Squadron stuff. Makes sense, it's Chris Huelsbeck on both!

Amazing game, with great music.
It's strange that the pre-rendered cutscenes depict him as the Commodore style.

In fact it probably is.
@@turrican3839 Yeah, their both by Manfred Trenz, well Super Turrican 2 is produced by Julian Eggebrecht but Turrican itself was by Manfred Trenz

Hi there - feel free to use the footage and let me know when you've uploaded your video; I'd be interested to see it! :D
Thanks so much your video quality is awesome!
While not as good as Super Turrican 1, or C64/Amiga series, it is still very solid game, huge shame series died, along with Factor 5 :(
