If I can’t unplug the pto harness in the passenger kick panel on my 2022 because it’s being used for other items, can I use this version of the BD high idle instead?
Thanks for all you help ARod. I got mine temporarily installed with wire nuts. I idle for 6-10 hours a day and used to run extra miles on the highway daily to clean filters. Now it’s maybe once a week.
You know what I always REALLY liked about Ford vehicles? Their obd connectors are always right out in the open and easy to plug into. They don't hide it and make you crawl all the way under the dash to find and plug into them.
I'm jealous, I'm still waiting for mine to ship , ordered the beginning of December , they emailed me a few days ago & hopefully it will ship in 2 to 3 more weeks
Got it installed by the king on my 19 duty last trip out! LOVE THIS MOD! Keeps ya out of that dreaded prolonged low rpm idle which is terrible for a diesel engine. Nice add on and peace of mind warming her up for short hop trips or just when ya need the heater or a/c when parked doing paperwork etc.
@@nysucks4508 yeah they don’t give you the ability to paddle up the idle gifs the cruise control like on a semi tractor…but anything i can do to stay out of low RPM idle I’ll take it!
Those are old school connectors. You should look up heat shrink and solder splice connectors. Insert the wires, put a heat gun to it, and done! Soldered and heat shrunk. Way more reliable than crimps.
@@chris9389 mostly for warming up the motor faster in colder temperatures but if you’re ever going to be idling for an extended period of time, you would raise the idle up its better for the motor.
Maybe the bracket should come with a dogleg to use both bolts for the OBD location. I guess a plate could be added with a rivet in the far left hole of the bracket.
Nice intstall. Mine should be in the mailbox soon! What wire strippers are those you are using. I need a pair.. clicked on your Amazon link mire than once and keeps sending me to Amazon home page.
Good video. If I set my emergency brake when I remote start will run at the RPM I have the pot set at????? What RPM do you recommend for warm up??? Thanks from west Tennessee
Have the BD high idle on my '15 duty. Ram trucks have it from the factory and it's operated from the cruise control switches. Too bad Ford didn't follow their lead on that. Ford is still the superior truck though!
Great video and quick question; is there any reason to worry about E brake function if you've never used it prior to installing this? The cable itself looks coated but just wondering. Thanks
Hey Aaron, other than a PTO or to raise the idle for the a/c, what’s the reason for the high idle? I have a 2016 F350 dually with the awesome 6.7 PowerStroke.
Because the Chics dig it!!! Joking aside, people use the high idle feature for several reasons: warming up the engine faster in the colder months, or they have a high load, from a winch for example, with a single alternator and a low idle doesn't produce enough power.
My 2012 GMC Duramax has what they call “Elevated Idle”. In cold temperatures and certain parameters are met the engine will idle much faster than normal to warm up faster. Is this the same thing or something different?
Not all of it but did download the manual and see how works - you can hook it to an up fitter switch and have a fixed rpm speed per the manual. I will be ordering one. @@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
My 09 F450 6.4 would increase idle speed if I just flashed it up and walked away, after about 5 minutes you could hear the rpm increase to about 1500 or so, no add ons (that I know about ) I was told its factory programed to do this, don't know if that's true or not.
Yes they will high idle from the factory. My 7.3 did until I did upgrades and put the hydra on which has a high idle tune. If you modified your diesel, you would then need a high idle tune or this switch.
all WANT the SPINS??? Get this!

Awesome video! Thanks!
Great upgrade! I use it all the time. 👍🏼
Very OEM looking. I'm enjoying mine TY for the professional install!!
Super cool, you make these videos fun! The install was clean! 👍
Wow this is a must-have for the 6.7!! Thanks for sharing!
If you have a 2017+ we have a video for them too, mounts in the same spot

The crimp he used is at Ford Dealerships and is actually a "certified weld," so considered equal to solder w/ heat shrink.
I make life time connections
Aaron Nice and clean install as always 🙂🙂❤
Love this kit! I installed one about a month ago. 👍🏻 BD Diesel and A Rod.
So can you leave the dial at a set rpm and just push the brake whenever you want the high idle?
Why did you decide to install this? Warming the motor up also?
@@KoesterZ The E brake, yes.

All u need is the brake light to come on. It doesnt need to be smashed to the floor
Great job bro,
Gotta question, Would you use this fast idle set at say 1000 rpm. parking brake applied and use remote start.
Mines at 1250
They are back ordered on the alumina duties been waiting over a month they say soon I hope
Do you have to buy this setup for high idle? In my old 6.0 I was able to connect a high idle wire to a upfitter switch and was done

Fast warm up for winter
Now just what would I be using this for.
That pretty cool.
Have you installed one and bypassed the ebrake switch? Did you use a relay?
Is it even possible to enable the XLT/work truck high idle through cruise on the higher spec trucks?
Home alone reference lol
What is the resistance of the pot?
Stupid question.. But why would I need to high idle the truck? PTO?
I am wondering the same thing.

Can be for PTO, some trucks have compressors or generators run off the PTO. Most would use it for warming up the engine.
Its better for the exhaust system during extended idle
Will this work if you have a sotf already? Should right?
Awsome 👍
And it is made in Abbotsford British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
how does this affect the up fitter switches? do you lose some?
this is what I want to know as well
It has nothing to do with the upfitter switches did you guys watch the video

Plug and play for your year. He has a video on it too, connects behind the kick panel on the passenger side.
What do you do if you have no power going to those wires
Figure out why
Do you know what fuses control those wires?
Motorcraftservice.com
A 6.7L just doesn't need 12v sent to a trigger wire for a high idle? How does a 6.4L do something a newer truck doesn't?
You can high idle off the up-fitter switched with a resistor, different values equate to different rpm’s. This allows it to be adjusted.
You can't program the ECM and use the cruise control to turn it on and adjust the RPMssss
Just dodge
Really what’s the point?
