Nice to see you Jon. Man. The Carolina Chapter of the VC has created some incredible friendships. I would have been honored to hang out with all of you. I am actually trying to put together something to send to Bill. One of the nicest gents on the planet. I would also like to get down to Noble Records and talk some Mighty Blimp bootlegs with the ever cool Dillon. He has an insane collection. He has a few that I would love to add to my collection. Jon you are a VC gem~ Rob/Boston
Rob, we would love to have you down to North Carolina. I think it’s pretty great how many of us have come out of the woodwork and started channels. I’m sure Dillon has a lot to do with that. There are even more folks (like Kris) that weren’t able to join us. Always a pleasure when I hear from you, Rob. Hope all is well your way. ✌🏻
Good digging Jon. I like the way that so many of your finds (or rather 'not finds') videos are extended travelogues with much socialising. Here in the UK we just trudge on our own, in the rain, to a single shop. And if we don't find anything, we just sigh resignedly, go home and drink tea.
My only finds videos for the most part are when I travel out of town or when I meet up with people. I make plenty of trips to record stores by my lonesome. I just don’t think people are interested in seeing every record I buy. I’m not interested in making those types of videos. I used to when I started this channel, but got tired of it pretty quickly. Would prefer to do more topic-based videos. I know you UK lot get together from time to time! You’re a tight-knit VC in the UK! 😄 Thanks, James! ✌🏻
I enjoy all your "not a vinyl finds video" vinyl finds videos. I second that observation about Rounder, they didn't really put out weak records back when they were an independent label. South Coast of Texas is prime Guy Clark. I've been picking up some of his later day records that originally came out only on CD, got Workbench Songs recently. Take care friend.
Good to hear on the Guy Clark. I’ve actually never heard it. I do have a twofer CD set of Texas Cookin’ and the self-titled. But I’d swap that for vinyl copies. Thanks, Elliott! Hope all is well my friend. ✌🏻
Record stores must love when visitors come to town that you and Dave know. Kokomoyo, however that is spelled is great, I have all his stuff. I can’t even explain why I like it except that I just do! I really need to get some bluegrass again, it is kind of a rarity up my way though. Good luck on using no more records
Kikagaku Moyo was yet another Sam influence from years back. Been slowly acquiring their discography, but I haven’t spun these recent pickups yet. When it comes to bluegrass, I’m looking mostly for the power players of the 1970s. Mostly on Rounder or Flying Fish. Cheers, Steve! ✌🏻
I’m waaaaay late but I’d like to get some junior wells records. I listen to the blues far more than I talk about it. Your video intros have such taste. Still don’t ever find Alice Coltrane in the wild - you seem to find her reissues and OGs! Also, I always look at Byrds records to see if I can get a better copy. Some great finds.
I only had one Junior Wells album until a couple of weeks ago. Now, I have three. Kind of wild. I don’t have a ton of blues. I’d still upgrade two of my other Byrds albums if the right copies came along. Bravos are blowing my mind right now. Most home runs before the AS Break in MLB history. Cheers, Rev! ✌🏻
I need more zengrass. Do you smoke it or roll around on it? I don't think it sunk in about the artwork when you mentioned the Wallowitch. I like that the artwork was already familiar from your looking through art books. "More of a music fan than a record collector". Duly noted! And also a good point to distinguish; I've been more of the latter than the former when buying vinyl, trying to get to the former. Damn, Bill dangling that tasty bait with Steve Reich 🤤 i love that even after raiding noble you didn't leave Bill hanging. Stepping up. That's interesting about kikagayu, felt like they've only been here a short time. "and then when you think of D'Angelo, I think of Guy Clark"😂 nah, not jealous about NY at all! So i will not see a 'not a vinyl finds video' here again? I will not believe that until I don't see it. But there's no winners here, can you see? Just buy some more records one day, Jon. You happen to be very good at it. And talking about them on video. Great at that too.
I gave Bill the Steve Reich. I found another copy and gave him the one I found at the Toy Factory. 😎 Who doesn’t think of Guy Clark when they think of D’Angelo? You always catch the best parts, Dean. That’s why we get along so well. I hope you and Di are doing well out there! ✌🏻
Jon, I haven't finished the video yet, but amazingly I have a John Wallowitch record and it's even on the Serenus label though not one graced with an Andy Warhol cover. Nice work! - Chris
Never even seen the Serenus Label before. There’s another Wallowitch that came out right after this one called This Is the Other Side of John Wallowitch. Similar Warhol photo booth collage on the cover. Was hoping you’d see this and be able to tell me more about this album.
Jon, you did a good job describing the music. Serenus was a mostly classical label that did not like to put dates on their records later on. Mine is called "Appearing at Dreamland Memory Ballroom" and includes a few Wallowitch compositions. I definitely would have strongly considered buying this album, if I found it, even considering the cabaret style music.
@@christopherkibler511 At least it’s all instrumental. His playing is very unique. Kind of raw. It has a lo-fi quality to it. I’ll probably sell it. I had someone inquire about it on Instagram but they haven’t sent me payment yet. Thanks, Chris!

Their version on You're No Good is actually really good ! 🎸 ..I remember MTV wouldn't play the Pretty Woman video. People hooking up in the big apple 🍎 ! I have never seen that video and now I want to receive monetary compensation for the one minute of it that I did watch. MTV might have refused to play it just because of how bad the video is. Yeah, an NYC meetup. Dom (Seekingathread) has an open invitation for people to join him at the WFMU Record Fair. It’s beyond my level of nerddom. 🤓
Ooh, Moondog - nice. I missed Bill this time around. Smart stopping buying records - the beanie baby market is starting to get hot again, so now is the time. You have friends and family - way to rub it in.
Always great seeing Bill. Next time he’s in town, we’ll try and arrange it so we can both come by the farm. Music DVDs are the new thing. Trading all my records in for Criterion Collection Blu-rays.
Excuses Jon. Ive got a spot ready dor you just let me know. But sweet Hassell gift from Dave and love the deeper soul picks like the Betty Wright. Your promise to stop buying records is just about as convincing as my 2023 thing.
If you said October of 2024? I’m there. No excuses over here. Just no way I could pull it off this year. A lot planned in the coming months. Dave is going stir crazy with his vinyl abstinence. He’s going to be bouncing off the walls by the time he meets up with you guys in NYC. 😂
Jon, yes more vinyl finds. I am fine with you just telling about the meet up. I don’t edit so I never have pics or videos. Cool place in Kannapolis. I’m not buying any more records either. It’s time to take a stand. Lol Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman

I am so glad SOMEONE (besides Dean) caught on to the finer nuances of this video. 😎✌🏻
