  • So I started thinking, and that's where I usually get into trouble. So anyway I began to wonder if Miss Thelma felt like starting. Yes, my buddy Bill has named her Thelma. So I got her into the garage to see if there was any spark left in the old girl. Well, what transpired over the next few days left me pleasantly surprised.

I have seen a decent 56 Fury go for as little as $6k US. With that being said, a similar car to mine, except for being a 2 door, went for $20k US at a dealer. Thanks for watching!

If anyone out here has a decent air compressor try an air bag jack.they have em in 2 flavors (6600 and 11,000 lb) they really work.I have both. They collapse low for low clearance cars as well. A good addition to anyones shop or garage. I no longer use my hydraulic jacks anymore. A real game changer for sure.

Had a 2 door 56 savoy in high school in 1967,68 light blue 60000 miles on it paid $400. It ran great, put brakes and good tires rode good to.

Yeah that would have been cool. I really think that the 2 doors are great looking cars. Light blue was a really popular color for sure.

reset your floats and open up gas line to see it pumping /then hook it back on carb / then turn on gas pump// and let it shut down under pressure this will check for leaks on floats in carb. if pump is pumping and no leaks from float bowl you good to start .

That side garage door came in handy. I have seen a couple of other recent videos on the Savoys

It sure does, when it's warm enough it adds some room to work.

Remember, these cars have a parking brake behind the transmission. You can still stop the car using that until you get the service brakes working again. There should be a parking brake lever to the left of the steering wheel just under the dash (or in some cases protruding from the left side of the dash panel).

Stand by to stand by Joe. She has a new parking brake band as well as a new tailshaft seal. Coming up in a future video.
      Thanks

    *POLY!*
It's fun bringing one back from the dead, isn't it? Yeah, WCFB's make the later on AFB's and AVS's look
overly simple by comparison - but if a fella gets good at rebuilding WCFB's, he can handle about any carb.
They're just - strange....good ones for young folks to learn on, though.
(I agree on the "more door", Chuck. If I'm going to invest a bunch of time and money in one, it's going to
be a 2-door - for better or worse, that's just the way it is).
*Props for showing your trial and error warts getting it running, by the way - most channels edit that out. *
Busy chaining down Louise in Chuck's garage so she can't leave,

Boy I’ll say, there’s a lot going on in there, and it was great to hear that motor run. The carb was remarkably clean and just needed some resealing for the most part.
      Thanks

Could you possibly do a run down on how to replace the parking brake band? Or steer me in the right direction? Thanks

Sure you can go to MyMopar.com and download the service manual. It will help you with the small stuff that you might run into when doing the job.
Take lots of pictures and you'll be fine. Just do a Google search to find the band, if it's still produced and it probably is.

Someone must have stepped on it at one time or another. They kind of look like they point down a bit but this one seems to be bent. I pulled it off and spent time trying to bend the brackets, but it didn't change much.
