Fishing a massive desert lake

My father and I return to the great one, the biggest lake I've every fished.
This time we have kayaks so the game is totally different. With dreams of 20lb striper, we struggle to get even a nibble and eventually fall back on the basic desperation fishing set ups, but they worked, I ended the day with 3 fish, all different kinds of bass and despite getting blue balled 3/5ths of the way through it was a good time.

You should try Mitry lake in Yuma or Lake Havasu, some monster bass out there.
