    I Love the In and Out the Shed Business 👍🏻 You never Fail to Make me Smile with every Overhaul that’s completed. Awesome Transformation to this Classic Black 5. Thanks for Posting ✨🙏🏻👍🏻

    There's always a great sense of achievement when a loco returns to working order. Another great repair, Bill, and a great looking loco. Thanks for shaaring.

    Good to see another locomotive running well again. I have quite a few tender driven locomotives and I'm happy 😀 with them. Regards Paul 🚂.

    This is a very good summary of your 'normal Ringfield service', Bill. I really have no excuse, now, for not tackling my sluggish Black 5: an eBay purchase with missing valve gear (now replaced), it's never run right. The tender always tries to overtake the loco! Must try giving the loco axles a scoosh...!

    Hi Bill.
    The 'scooch-meister' strikes again. Excellent job, well done! 👍
    P.S. Can we have our 'Calcutta Cup' back please. 👹

      Scope for some merch, methinks: "Just a wee scoosh..." or "Give it a scoosh..." maybe?

      I think either of those phrases printed on a T shirt could be open to misinterpretation. 😆

    Sounds very similar, actually quieter than mine, to my Black 5. Surgery required!

    Hi Bill, The Black 5 is one of my favourite loco's. I wanted one long before Triang/Hornby made one. To the point where, like many, I butchered a Triang Princess to make one. Nice to see another one saved. Was just thinking that a Wrenn 4mt 2-6-4 tank would look nice on your layout for suburban use. I know you have the Hornby one, but the Wrenn engine is IMHO a much nicer engine. But then again I am biased as it is my favourite loco. All the best, and thanks for another great video.

    Well done Bill you made my day putting the engine in and out of the shed,it really made the video :) I have one of those Black 5s i bloody love it,like most it comes with the date it was made stamped on the service sheet.I would much rather have this old engine than some of the rubbish Hornby knocks out these days Haha! Stay safe and happy :) Oh yeah i forgot to ask where do you buy that contact cleaner from ?

      I found a bricks-and-mortar supplier on eBay, I think, otherwise the High--Street-destroying-behemoth will certainly have it too.

    Another brilliant video. One thing I wanted to ask when doing a cd motor conversion and you use diodes to reduce the voltage to the motor how do you wire them up and do you use the Zena type?

    • @oobill
      @oobill  2 роки тому +1

      They just interupt the wire between the pick up and the motor.

    • @PeterJewell2
      @PeterJewell2 2 роки тому

      @GarethParkin -- 'zener' not 'zena', although most search engines will recognise what you mean. Worth knowing, for the ones that don't!

    Interesting that they fit proper handrails down the boiler but the moulded coal in the tender is still total pants.

    Bill, how do the motors get so dirty, do they pick up muck from the track. Apart from cleaning the rails , on a regular basis I vacuum the track to remove any dust build up.

      Oil, dust, static and time. A deadly combination

    Do you use the wd40 contact cleaner to clean your track or do you use ipa

    I hope that you didn't send it back to him like that Bill.... The valve gear on the left hand side of the locomotive is incorrectly assembled... The combination lever should be in front of the crosshead not to the rear of it. It's correctly assembled on the right hand side of the locomotive for comparison. Best Regards, Jules.
