So glad your back. Have so missed your videos. So glad your ok and gonna watch this video with a good scotch… wishing you all the very best. Marc 👍 You still work the magic
Glad to have you back Bill. I really get a lot of enjoyment from your restoration / repair videos. I enjoy fixing things, and appreciate the older models better then the new stuff. I learn a lot of tips & ideas from you. We all need to take breaks from time to time. Happy New year to you
Nice to see you back your videos are always quality. The black livery on this B12 is the wartime colour scheme of the LNER. The beautiful garter blue and apple green colours on their pre war locos were all stopped and LNER was shortened to NE due to wartime rationing and in an effort to make the locos less visible to German aircraft. These B12s were Great Eastern engines but 25 were transferred to Scotland in the 30s to work on the former Great North of Scotland lines and were based at Kittybrewster.
I was hoping you would come back. Got a bit worried when all your videos disappeared, but I never gave up. I’d swing by just to check and lo and behold, here you are! Looking forward to more repairs. Welcome back!
B12s are great. No Block for pistons at the front like the Princess. The block can rub every time the pistons enter it which inhibits. I like the B12s because ithey are so simple. Just an X)4 motor and nothing much can go wrong. Thanks, (From Milngavie)
Hi Bill nice to have you back I have used your videos like a Haynes workshop manual and have now got 32 engines working out of 33 1 needs quartering and I havent built up the courage to do that . So thank you for that
I had that one with the sound box. Preferred the look (and couplings) of the Mainline brake van. I picked up that little grey Hornby one damaged for a couple of quid but turned it into a Caledonian one to go with the blue 040.
Hi Bill,, it really is great to see you back mate. Since i seen you last i started working on some of my engines i have here & are mainly hornby and lima & them ringfield motors that hornby put in there tender driven locos and i have you to thank for the awesome videos you put on youtube for us all to watch and enjoy. Thanks again and cheers from john in Australia.
Anytime you need a break, you don't need our permission :-) But you can tell people were worried which, just goes to show how appreciated you are. Take care Sir, have a Happy New Year and best wishes to you and yours.
Dear Bill, I have my original Princess Victoria from Childhood. I have another five I bought in varied condition. I have swapped over parts and bogie wheels. Now I have my own that goes superbly and another that also goes superbly. One Chassais pinks and I think that was due to factory wheel setup. However the others I have done everything, but they lack sufficient pulling power. I think magnetisation is the key. I do not have the expertese to do this or the equipment. Can you do a tutorial on magnetising and also a link to buy the equipment. I know it is important to do it correctly. Also I have an old loco fitted with a modern motor and cradle. I think you know about this too. PS My Wife does not allow my clocks so It was good to see you winding yours. Thank you. Gavin in Milngavie.
Welcome back and Happy New Year. Will be good to see the type 7 motor conversion. Your layout is one of my favourites, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
great to c u back that b12 certainly sounds better i tend to like the older models new ones now ridiculas price i got an old lima crab runs great for its age eagerly awaiting the next video yours is by far the best repair channel
Glad to see you back Bill and to hear that you're OK. Nice addition to your collection and fits perfectly in your new/old shed. Have a happy new year and all the best for 2022. Monique from Brisbane.
It was a fantastic surprise to see a new video from you in my recommendations! I’d unsubscribed from you because I was clearing my subscriptions to dormant UA-camrs, and when I saw all your videos had gone, I was actually quite sad… Very happy to see you have returned and hope whatever you were dealing with has now been sorted!
Very nice! A simple bit of maintenance and it is transformed. Love the screwdriver idea. So good to hear you say 'skoosh' again 😊 I found myself saying it the other day when spraying some degreaser. Cheers.
B12 runs quieter than some modern locos, just goes to show what a good service can do. Nice addition to your fleet, looks mint. Happy New Year and nice to see you back on YT again. All the best. Brian @ The Angels
Great to see you back at it . You say at the beginning the model is in reasonable condition , for its age I thought it was near perfect , also before and after running was transformed and much quieter ,Great work .
Welcome back Bill. Great to see another fantastic video. It's amazing how a good clean and light lubrication can transform a loco and make it run quieter and smoother.
I have found a useful pair of tweezers that are used for lock pins, as they have a cupped end handy for holding carbon brushes and small screws reducing the chance of pinging them yonder due to the way they are shaped
Nice one Bill! Good to see ye, sir. Never mind the why, just good to see ye back online! I hope you've had a Merry Christmas and here's to All The Best Wishes For The New Year! Cheers Bill!
Great to see you back Bill and to know you're okay. I've found your videos a great reference for tips on how to maintain and repair my own locos so I'm glad you're back on UA-cam. P.S. I enjoyed the intro - a nice touch after your break!
Hi Bill welcome back! Really missed your repairs etc. I’ve seen so many that I now use the word “ scoosh “ when applying WD 40 cleaner!! (It’s good stuff!) I used to have a Hornby triang B12 back in the late 60s that had synchro smoke! wishing you a Happy Hogmanay and even Hootenanny! 👍🥃🥃
Hi Bill, Glad to see you back. Hope you have had a great Christmas. This B12 has magnadhesion on so it did not need a lot of wieght as it was supposed to run on steel track. I always thought the wartime black livery was the nicest one they did till the blue SDJR one came out. many thanks to you also for the J50 video. All my j50's now pick up on all 6 wheels plus a modicome of upgrading.
Thank you! I am really pleased you are back. I repair all my own locos and always find you videos stimulating.
So glad your back. Have so missed your videos. So glad your ok and gonna watch this video with a good scotch… wishing you all the very best. Marc 👍 You still work the magic

Shows what attention to cleaning and maintenance does for the running of a loco...have a Happy & Healthy New Year...
