I was doing a recording session once and the ex bad player came along to listen to how things were going During playback he said "who's that playing bass" 😁
Hahaha. 70’s and 80’s home engineering. I love it. Although things are easier today, they’re not nearly as fun and certainly don’t force a young mind to “figure it out.” We were awesome.
I used to work as an AA patrol and I got called out to a motor home non start in thurlstone (Devon) once. It turned out to be Peter richardsons, used it for location shoots. Top bloke, had a good chat about comic strip presents 😄 a great day at work
Really makes you think of the alternative universe where Peter Richardson played Mike the cool guy on The Young Ones as originally intended. Christopher Ryan played Mike great, but one can only wonder how different it would have been with Peter.
I May misremember but I do seem to recall Tommy Vance walking out at Donnington Rock Festival with a American Football helmet on to protect him when he introduced Bad News, he new the bottles would come, but they actually had the bottle to do it.
It’s always good news to happen upon a splash of Bad News. Both films are in my top ten for sure, as legendary as spinal tap. always felt more relatable as it’s firmly in the UK
Brilliant absolutely brilliant , acting, script, the nutter drummer, rik mayall the poncey exhibitionist, planer the dumb likeable, useless member and vim, the leader....fantastic
When they're playing the song just before Vim complains about playing a G, the camera work is pretty neat, how did they get around the room like that without it looking like footsteps
It's a little known recording trick not many cameramen (or women!) learn nowadays, but back then they would practice balancing the camera on their heads, because of the terribly long days a cameraman (or woman!) would face they tended to consume a lot of caffeine which would make their hands shake, balancing the camera on your head counteracts the shakes much more efficiently due to the neck being central to the body mass of a cameraman (or woman!).
Spent my teenage years watching this (50 now) over and over again with mates on VHS. Haven't seen this in a along time but can still remember the lines.. Collin, Vin, Den and Spider you were my teenage years.". Imagin if youuuu cannn"." Did'nt John Lennon write that" no its just a coincidence
They should have made a full series of Bad News, it could have been as big as the Young ones, just hilarious 👍🏻😂
It was an actual band ... check it out
@robertcasey966 Really? No way man this was the comic strip.
@@mzakingthey actually toured the UK, I saw them.
That "we need a proper bassplayer" line always makes chuckle 😂.
Right. I’m off.
At least I'm not a banker
What was needed was "why can't we find a left handed bass player who can actually play a left handed bass".
I was doing a recording session once and the ex bad player came along to listen to how things were going
During playback he said "who's that playing bass" 😁
Brilliant watched the comic strip back in the day and have all the complete dvds, love how they take the piss out of heavy metal 😂😅😅😅😅😄😄😄😄😄 Rip Rik.
The truth ... i am watching it since 30 years and it gets truer every time i am seeing it 😂 !!! BAD NEWS for president
I taped this off the telly on to VHS, and then on to cassette tape from the TV speaker so I could listen to it on the way to school. Loved it!
Your ancestors would be so proud
The things we had to do… kids today have zero clue.

The one thing that always gets me about this scene is how fucking cool the tune sounds when they start
I'm a warrior ❤
WOGK is a pretty good track...
@@jasoncee666 Of Ghengis Khan?
@@TradCatMan nah just a cold hole known as Tasmania 🤣🤣🤣
@@serverlan763 Warriors and Drink Till I Die are proper pumpin rock tracks. Obviously, having Brian May there helps a bit.

In my gigging days, when asked to do my mike check I'd say 'Hello Spider!' 😀
Me and my mates used to practice Warriors of Genghis Khan in my Dad's garage.. those were the days..
The blood won't wash away!
Ja, Volle!
In drop D tuning?
It's a very political song
@@benzone3711 more poetical political
I swear that both Bad News and More Bad News are even funnier than Spinal Tap ... and that's saying something. Just how did they keep a straight face?
Still Crazy was another good one that I thought was better than Spinal Tap, and Bill Nighy did all his own vocals.
I agree, more bad news is absolutely hilarious
It's so accurate when it comes to local bands, I've met every one of these in different bands lol
The album is hilarious too
I saw them at Donnington & a few years later at the Edinburgh Playhouse on the More Bad News tour. great fun
I bloody LOVE Bad News! Could watch this and Bad News Tour on a loop forever! :-)
Mayall, Edmondson and Planer are comic masters.
Richardson is no slouch either.
and the other fella..
The Comic Strip Presents is rather unique and legendary
@@d2vmusic Hi Spider

Bye then hee hee 😂
Dude the bassist... The bassist when the song kicks off is the funniest thing ever.. great post
Man, I love More Bad News with all my heart, the chemistry these guys had was sensational
Really makes you think of the alternative universe where Peter Richardson played Mike the cool guy on The Young Ones as originally intended. Christopher Ryan played Mike great, but one can only wonder how different it would have been with Peter.
It’s a classic line-up! 😂👍
I remember watching this for the first time and rolling with laughter, watching this takes me back to then. BN1 an 2 were brilliant full stop.
LOL!! TIMELESS!!!! SPINAL TAP AND THESE GUYS ARE STILL BETTER THAN THE MUSICAL PLANTS CREATED BY THE MAINSTREAM INDUSTRY TODAY!!!
The first time i saw this, i laughed so much that i ended up puking.
Bloody hell vim it’s a Marshall
Timeless.
Bad news and more bad news are definitely comic strips best ,mr jolly lives next door is a classic aswell.
NICHOLAS BLOODY PARSONS!!!

Take out Nicholas parsons 😂
It's an unfunny copy of Spinal Tap.
Watched this over and over as a teen metal head, fave Comic Strip film. Brilliant.
“Where’s the toilet”…. Classic Neil

Peter Richardson is the true genius... always subtle but incredibly cool as hell!!!!🤘🤘🤘
I said something similar but went all around the world explaining it 😂...you said it in a nutshell 🤣🤣👍👍
Who’s that playing bass? WHO IS IT!? Classic Rik Mayall
Those were the days, when leopard skin leggings were worn by rockstars and not just fat birds off council estates.
Lol
The gag about the bass player not being on the record.... That happens way more than most bands will admit!
ask jason newstead
40yrs ago a mate had endless anecdotes about drummers that would keep us in hysterics for hours..memories of the Presquile!!!
Its hilarious that this was being made the same time they filmed Spinal Tap....but this is way underrated. I love this.
Hey lads, There's a crate of beer here !! love it
Well there's a tour Bad News, Spinal Tap,and Steel Panther.
And The Rutles!
I never heard of this, but I remember "The Young Ones"
That’s what I was thinking!
You haven't heard of their Comic Strip series?
Love it. I got the comic strip stuff on dvd back in the day. Some classic stuff. Remember the one about the gay footballer?
Aw, you've gotta feel for Colin.
"Who has been here?……………Bananarama…"
theyre all brilliant but Peter Richardson is so underated in these comic strip presents !!
I May misremember but I do seem to recall Tommy Vance walking out at Donnington Rock Festival with a American Football helmet on to protect him when he introduced Bad News, he new the bottles would come, but they actually had the bottle to do it.
Might of been Nebworth
It was Donnington. And it's in the film !

This is brilliant! I can't believe I've never seen this before.
"Colin, stop crying." "I'm not crying... "
Everything Den says and does has me in pieces....
Served Nigel in a retail job a hundred or so years back. Lovely bloke.
"Fuck off, Bad News". Donington was never the same after these guys.

I would choose a Vox AC30 amp over a Marshall stack every time.
You’re not a cliche 1980s heavy metal guitarist character, so it’s moot.
@@thefonzkissBut a Vox AC31 would be appropriate.😂
mezzabarba trinity for me
But a Marshall can go to 11
I had a Bad News 7" Stratch and Sniff record. Its smelt of bus tour odour. I loved it!
"Look I'm refusing to argue with you!"
This is something else. Quality.
Masterpiece! Much better than Spinal Tap.
saw these guys play at donnington monsters of rock festival.
Were they any good?
The tongue flick at 4:09 😂😂😂😂

Befire Spinal Tap....there was the mighty BAD NEWS!! ❤❤❤
Class! Pure class!
Oh my God! I forgot about the band in the last few decades! Those were the times.
Basically Rick and Viv with long hair
I actually liked their music. Warriors of Genghis Khan was a classic lol. The two documentaries were hilarious.
Rick and Pete are just like the Darkness! It's uncanny!
I'm not sure what this is but I'm dying laughing
I wish it was longer ....
I had a girlfriend who used to say those very words!

2 quid for a bloody sausage?
It says sausages up there
hahaha, nail on the head, all my arguments (guitar/vocals) were with the bass player LOL
they actually pre dated spinal tap by a few months...
Better than spinal tap because it’s British! 😅
I watched the out take of them setting up ready to perform at Heavy Metal festival. Very funny.
nigel planer was the funniest in Bad News
Only just noticed that Colin's bass is right handed bass played left handed.
Classic. Says all you need to know about heavy metal.
Bye than
we need more, more bad news
Vim doesn't have a stack, he has a combo. As the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix, he should know that.
Ohhhhhh, this is VERY funny..Yes, it's funnier, and Spinal Tap is a hoot!!
It sucks we never got this in the States.
The tuning 'drone', those were the days.
It's all alcopops and samplers these days.
Colin Grigson was my favourite band member.
They took the idea from Spinal Tap, everyone knows that - but they bothered to write more gags in Bad News... To my mind it's funnier.
Literally the same as our bass player back in '84!
Heard ade on radio 2 today, then this pops up 😂
...Bananarama... World's greatest band! Whoa! Not Bananarama, but Bad News, of course!
The fight over the Marshall and Vox is 100% fact. The classic debate of is a Marshall better than a Vox or is a Vox better than a Marshall !!!
I have the cash in on Christmas album on CD
..Now, we'll never know who's plain' bass!
what's wrong vim??
bad news brilliant love this.
Is this a documentary on The Cult?
