- Found these on a video. The Comic Strip Presents "Bad News" and "More Bad News"
This is for anybody that ever tried to organise and play in a band.
Obviously originally on Channel 4, and that's where the copyright strike comes in.
This isn't meant to be anything other than a way to see these programmes from the 83 and 88 which are probably on the C4 player now anyway...
Vim Fuego, né Alan Metcalfe (Ade Edmondson) - Lead vocals and lead electric guitar
Den Dennis (Nigel Planer) - Rhythm electric guitar and backing vocals
Colin Grigson (Rik Mayall) - Electric bass guitar and backing vocals
Spider Webb (Peter Richardson) - Drum kit and backing vocals[1]
They were doing it for the comedy but dang, I loved their music
“Masturbike” & “Drink til I Die” 😂
When Nigel planer came out with that last line, about exploiting Vins death for a lot of money, my dad (RIP dad), a very well spoken, well educated, classical music lover, who had sat through the whole film with a look of confusion, suddenly burst out laughing and had tears coming out the sides of his eyes. No one could get a word out of him for about 90 minutes, he was laughing so hard. A lovely, lovely memory ❤️
❤
Classic cannot be toped😂😂
The Greatest Heavy Metal Movie ever!!
hi Glenn!
@SpectreSoundStudios I can darn well see why! Fuck you Glenn! 😂
@@ThunderBassistJay glad you liked it!
@@SpectreSoundStudios Good to finally meet you on the interwebz. I've been a long time sub, loving your content all the way. Being a hobby bassist, who started playing the 4-string at 50, I can feel your attitude towards bassists. 😎
@@ThunderBassistJay Watch the movie. They made the smart move in the studio with the bass :)
Simply THE best Comic Strip episodes ever. Funnier than Spinal Tap by a country mile. Just complete, immersive genius and I am not sure the entire cast were ever better. My brothers and I could recite every line and no matter how many times I watch Rik - sorry, Colin - each line seems brand new. Gold plated brilliance.
Matt Hoskin Totally :-)
Please, you can't be serious. Spinal Tap is better written, better acted, and a thousand times more quotable and rewatchable. Next to Spinal Tap, this looks like a film school project, and since the actors clearly overact, Bad News feels more like a sketch than a documentary.
I guess that van was supposed to look crappy , but man , I'd kill for it . It's perfect .
That Burning looting raping shooting song is a pretty good riff...
We miss you Rik Mayal! Love ya brother!
ACrackInTheWall2006 Always ... RIP
you cannot beat British comedy man. The Young Ones rocked too
omg I forgot *HOW* brilliant this was.
This is one of the greatest comedy pinnacles of human achievement. I don't know if that made sense, but I really really like this.
completely.........
From Iron Maiden to Scorpions to Quiet Riot etc they nailed the metal/hard rock era of the mid eighties.
"We'd be as rich as the Stones if we sold as many records as them."
7:45 "Life on the road is a lot more interesting than working in a factory. I mean, you do a lot more driving about, for a start. You-- you always feels as though you're going somewhere. Ya know?"
Thank you for combining parts 1 & 2 together into one colossal HEAVY METAL MESS !! BAD NEWS ROOOOOOCKS !!
Gosh, this brings back memories! Dang, I miss those days - classic metal, classic British comedy, classic Dr Who, classic 2000AD...best ever everything!
This film inspired me and some friends to take a 1000 euro van and drove to spain from scandinavia. Epic....
"Where's me other bloody sausage??"
This actually predated "This is Spinal Tap" by a year. Both were in production at around the same time, but since this was aired on BBC and the Spinal Tap film was in theatrical release, Bad News was out first.
Nix Nightbird The difference is that Bad News is actually funny.
Jon Calderon we get it, you don’t have a sense of humor.
i always tell Everyone this. I actually watched it first too!!!!!!!!!! xoxoxo
@Ren *their

Absolutely brilliant. I still have the VHS tape and a vcr that still works!!!! Me and my family quote the movie all the time!!!
Used to cover Warriors of Gengis Kahn in my old band, which went down remarkably well .

My favourite Bad News song is the one at 9:26 ( "Who's fooling who"). I've always wondered if it was released in some format. I -want- need the full version!

What kind of name is Vim Fuego, anyway?!
Gold!
Adrian and Jennifer, Rock on
Radness...
As a Canadian i'd never heard of the Comic Strip stuff until stumbling across it on UA-cam. Saw the Young Ones in uni, but that was pretty much my only exposure to Mayall, Edmundson and Nigel Planer; Comic Strip really Amazingly versatile comedy; from five minutes to film length. i'd say the first two famous five piss-takes and Eddie monsoon & Mr. Jolly Lives next door are the all-time greatest. And the French New Wave one. There's also one starring Keith Allen - a horror spoof - that was so terrifying I had to fast-forward a bit. Did Peter Richardson and Keith Allen do much else worth checking out?
They do The Bullshitters
Where are the actual recordings of the music from the first special? It seems like the only songs to make it onto the lp were recorded later around 1986? I love these super boneheaded boogie NWOBHM pisstake sounds haha
Comedy Gold man
HEY! HEY! BAD NEWS!! The Best, Worst Heavy Metal In The WORLD!!!! Long Live Colin Grigson!!
Colin Birnie RIP
@@andrewdods2236 NOT YET MATE!!!

Incarnation of Jimi Hendrix......

There's someone at the door, no we've got a toilet.....haaaaa
Neil from young ones
& Rick & Vyvyan. Instead ox Mike there is Peter Richardson as an actor. Together with Peter Ritchens he wrote most of The Comicstrip Presents & was the director!❤
This like metalocalypse years before henad but with no gore
SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"It says sausages"!
1:21 me in 20 years
To join the band all you have to do is drink half a bottle of vodka and keep it down, tried 6 times for he got in LMAO!
Oh I see….having a send up ? Taking the piss?
you didn't let the dog in for free did you?
Bad News at Ten.
Oh sorry, I was watching spider on the bike.
I love this, but what is Den saying at 3:19 - 3:21 ?? Something about hair ? XD
Hey Guggi. Better late than never... "Did they get it this time? Or have they got another hair in the gate or what?" : "A 'hair in the gate' will remain in front of the film and create a dark line that sticks into the edge of the film frame as the camera is filming a shot. A hair can ruin the shot and is almost impossible to fix in post production without using modern digital removal techniques"
Nick -Knack Totally! Thanks for answering 😄
Funnier than spinal tap!!!!
@tommybomb7080 and released long before Spinal Tap!❤
They go to 11
The women’s underwear in his kitchen 😆
WE"RE NOT JUST ANOTHER STUPID HEAVY METAL BAND!

So fucking funny
I'm here on Circle of Tone's recommendation. Check out his channel, great stuff: ua-cam.com/users/tockusa
Who’s here because of Judas Priest…….only kidding me neither
Afi and the flatliners brought me here.
lol
I have heard worse songs actually
I think their songs are excellent. Much like Spinal Tap's. Funny how that works.
*op Yes like the entire Judas Priest back catalogue.
Heavy metals cow gives me heavy metal milk!
I have the cassette tape! Ha-ha!
Any comedy show that relies on toilet jokes for laughs isn't a comedy show. This is just trash!
You don't know about the story/ history about this, do you? It's one of the most famous out of bandlife pisstaking movies of all times, small budget, half a year before Spinal Tap was on. It's not just great, it's sthg for eternity to look into the 80s!❤😅
I'm here to give you more information any time you want! There's a whole new/80s kind of comedy behind it & yes, toilet humour is part of it, but in a very particular way, it's always been an essential part of British humour, don't blame me, I'm not British, I'm even German, but I love the lot of them!❤❤😂
@@sundaypeople5791 No offense but I couldn't really care less about using your "information" to make my opinions. I've watched both and they are trash.
@@Smelly_Indian obviously you're chronically constipated, probably for a long time now.....
