If Rik had passed away at 199 years old, it would still be too soon. I miss him and Ade. I was fortunate enough to see them live once. Brilliant doesn't even come close to describing it.
Such a nice man. Had the pleasure of meeting him in Totnes...had a nice chat about The Young Ones and signed the back of my wife's shopping receipt which she has framed....
Every time I see clips like this, I miss the bloke all over again. The influence this man had on my life, members of my family's lives, some of my friends lives and most of all our language and humour, cannot be underestimated. He and Ade literally created their own form of slang that even now, decades later, is still used and still cracks people up in laughter. The other day my sister and I asked my nephew to pop to the shop and buy some milk, biscuits, coffee, and Jaffa cakes, and when he returned he didn't have them, and without even thinking I shouted 'What about the god damn Jaffa cakes ass-wipe!" and everyone just fell about laughing as my nephew looked on clueless as to what the joke was. Quite frankly and without question, the funniest man ever to have lived in my lifetime.
Series called believe nothing Rick was a total comedy genius in all he did many times had me crying in pain of laughter from a simple facial expression to words from mouth Loved and very very dearly missed
"Young ones", "comic strip presents", "kevin turvey", "the dangerous brothers", "bottom", "filthy rich & catflap", "believe nothing" and "the new statesman". This guy never missed a shot (or an opportunity to engage in abusive banter with the audience). Still miss this absolute mad man!
I think it was either 10pm or 10.30 Sundays on ITV, so it was rather stuffed away in a strange place. Rather the same one where Spitting Image & his other show New Statesman used to be. Shame that Ade didn't play his butler...
Hard to believe Rik died almost ten years ago… 9th June 2014. Greg Davies spoke on Desert Island Disks about how wonderful Rik was playing Greg’s dad in Man Down.
He did way way more than the f**kin Young Ones. Don't get me wrong, great at the time, but the like of Filthy Rich & Catflap, Bottom, Dangerous Brothers sketches, Mr Jolly Lives Next Door (that's one of a few efforts from The Comic Strip-brilliant) plus his role with Greg Davies as his father in a BBC comedy are all places you should try. His two performances as Flashheart in Blackadder are absolute musts. Do like he did, put the ruddy Young Ones behind you and enjoy how good he became...
and new statesman drop dead Fred Mavis Davis film he done so much theatre too miss you Rik Mayall absolute legend one of the funniest guys woooof @@andrewphippsphillips1455
The entire series (all one) is on youtube. It's some of Riks' best work and way ahead of its time. It somehow passed me by also, buried. Looking back, i can see why. The climate change theory is fantastic.
Gone too soon. Rik Mayall was a legend.
Absolute legend
An utter Gentleman with endless talent will for ever be missed.Love you, Rik.Such a funny guy...
A legend lost

Rick Mayall, simply a legend. ❤

*No idea how lucky you are. You got to see the legend live. Not many fans can say that.*
Such a nice man.
Had the pleasure of meeting him in Totnes...had a nice chat about The Young Ones and signed the back of my wife's shopping receipt which she has framed....
Still devastating knowing he's no longer with us.
That's so awesome
Rik is truly a God of Comedy . Miss his outrageous comedy !

I didnt even know about this show!
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, said BASTARDS quite like Rik!!!
Nobody. 😂😂
There's nobody on earth can shout Bastards! With the same comedy value!
RIP, Rick Mayall - your sketches and shows with Adrian Edmondson had me in stitches. You were a class act and are missed.
You don't know what you got till its gone! R.I.P Rick Mayall :(
This was the first personality that I genuinely shed a tear over when he died....an ace fellow!!
I'd forgotten how much a fancied Emily Bruni ❤
With you there, those smouldering dark eyes & lovely plummy well-educated rounded tones of her accent are rather gorgeous
Indeed, WOOF!
You are not alone 😃
Without these clips I wouldn’t even have known this existed. How did I miss it?!
Fabulous. Sadly missed.
Always naturally, brilliantly himself - outrageously, hilariously awesome; and above all, unique. Greatly missed of course.
I would struggle to say anything sensible if I was that close to the stunningly beautiful Emily Bruni ❤❤❤❤
Loved Rick mayell since I was 11 years old in 82 when the young ones was on TV legend.👌

You can watch him all day. Brilliant comedy.

You can just say that you love Rik. No need for this pedestal placing which discredits others.
No one sold bloopers better than Rik, always the entertainer. RIP you wonderful man and my hero.
Brilliant!. Obvious those in this loved him too!. RIP Rik.

Its impossible to not adore Rik.
Still love Rik. Thank you for uploading
You are soooo missed Rick......
Comedic genius, RIP Rik
Sad day when this wonderful comedic genius died, everything he did was just so good in my opinion.
Could make any blooper a thousand times funnier than the joke he was supposed to say
As Rik said throw away your tv
Went to see a episode recorded in Twickenham, so funny so loved Rik 😢
He had natural talent, and who cannot smile at his role as an MP. An artist sadly missed.
Rik was so funny ,he will be missed 😢
How the hell did I not know this series existed?
Agreed.
I think it was either 10pm or 10.30 Sundays on ITV, so it was rather stuffed away in a strange place. Rather the same one where Spitting Image & his other show New Statesman used to be. Shame that Ade didn't play his butler...
cause it was funny and is never repeated..
Me too!... Still in shock.
